Seans Notes 20/12/2007 Team Management 2008 - The recently elected executive committee has acted quickly in installing the new senior team management. Manager and coach for the 2008 campaign will be Lawrence Strain; the Omagh resident has had a successful career both as a player and manager with his native Drumquinn, and in recent years had been a key figure in the Omagh St Enda's management set-up. Assisting Lawrence will be Stephen Hagan no stranger to coaching and management in the club. Making a very welcome return to team activities is Niall Mc Guirk, our 2002 championship winning captain enjoyed his first taste of management with the Under 21 squad last year. We are delighted he is part of the triumvirate although some of our supporters still harboured hope that they hadn't seen the last of the big Tappa man wearing the No 8 or No 9 club jersey. We wish this trio all the best as they plot the fortunes of our adult squad in the forthcoming league and championship campaign. Hopefully they will get the response demanded, and the players will show commitment and dedication and with a little bit of luck we can contest for honours in what is sure to be a very competitive and keenly contested intermediate division. Executive Committee - The following were returned to position on the club executive committee at our AGM held on 7th December. Danny Clerkin (Chairman) Sean Mc Elvaney (Secretary) Mary Mc Connon (Treasurer) Gerry Lynch (Vice Chairman) Ciaran Mc Entee (Registrar) Stephen Mc Elvaney (Player's Representative) Committee members Enda Murphy, Nigel Lynch, David Treanor, Brian O Neill, Kevin Mc Morrow, Colm Mc Mahon, Paul Kelly, Cormac Connolly. The chairman over the coming weeks will no doubt reassign portfolios as he endeavours to spread the ever increasing work load across the various sub committees, but we'll keep you informed of the in and out of any reshuffle. Party Night - A great crowd attended last Friday night Christmas party celebration, the numbers were swelled as patrons turned out in strength to wish Frank and Joan Mc Cabe the very best as they take a well earned rest from our Social Centre. Modest pair that they are, they felt uncomfortable being the centre of attention, and were at a loss as to why they should be singled out for a club presentation. But everyone knows well that the club owes Frank and Joan a debt of gratitude that can never be adequately quantified or repaid, and the presentation they received was only a small gesture and a public acknowledgement of our indebtedness. We thank them for their loyalty and commitment and wish them the very best for the future. Totto - The number drawn last week 1,5,2,4,6,3,7, was not correctly forecast. The multi draw €40 winner was Niamh, Lisa, Niall, & Killian Murphy Nahill. Sinead Deery Ballybay, Michael Mc Mahon Donegal, EJ, Neil, Petter, Lisnaskea, Eugene Fay Lisboduff, and Michael Smith Newbliss claimed the €20 prizes. Next week's Jackpot is €1,300 . Club Merchandise - Replica club jerseys the ideal Christmas gift are available from club treasurer Mary Mc Connon any evening after 7.00pm. Tele No.047-57331. Christmas Draw - Lines are currently on sale for very valuable prizes in our social centre Christmas Draw which will take place next week-end, First prise is a camcorder and the full prise fund is in excess of €1,000 lines are €2 each or three for €5 make sure your in to win one of these luxurious prizes. Juvenile Sponsorship - A special word of thanks to Noel Melvin and the First Active Society for the generous sponsorship presented to the youth committee by Noel recently. The substantial donation is very much appreciated by the youth committee and will go towards funding underage coaching and development structures. See associated photo elsewhere. Speedy recovery - Everyone in the club wishes Derek Mc Mahon a speedy return to full fitness, Derek received a nasty ankle injury that is liable to keep him out of action for several months, we certainly hope he will have recovered sufficiently to show of his talent to new team manager and play and active role in the teams fortunes later this summer. Seans Notes 13/12/2007 Annual General Meeting - A large attendance at our Annual General Meeting heard club secretary Sean Mc Elvaney deliver a comprehensive report on all aspects of club activities in 2007. He dwelt at length on the precarious situation the senior team found themselves in, facing relegation and the combined effort of management and players to successful stave off the dreaded drop. On the discipline front he said the club in no way condoned indicipline either on or of the field and encouraged players mentors and supporters to show respect. When cited the club had accepted their responsibility and sanctions accompanying any transgressions. Discipline was he said a two way street and he express disappointment at the length of time it took to process one players case, with no explanation as yet received or forth coming for the delay. He looked forward in hope in 2008 on the playing field, and voiced similar optimism on the development front. Nigel Lynch singled out the Under 14 squad, the only team to adorn the club mantelpiece with silverware in his inaugural youth secretary report. He outlined the continuing effort in underage coaching and development and he thanked Hughie Mc Elvaney of Elco Oil Ltd. for his financial support in this area. Concluding he appealed for more adults to become involved in the supervision and coaching elements of under age activities. Club chairman Danny Clerkin in his address complimented the senior panel and management for their effort when relegation stared them in the face. He admitted that the squad had lost some influential players over the last few seasons but he believed the present crop were well able to stand up now, and make a name for themselves in 2008. On development he said the inclement weather had played havoc with development plans, he acknowledged the advice and expertise provide on this front by Ciaran Timoney. On finance he express dismay that outstanding National Lottery funding had still not been received. He described as shameful and absurd that a voluntary organisation such as ours should have to pay taxes of any sort, referring in particular to increased Local Authority charges. He congratulated Paraic Duffy on his appointment as Ard Stiurthoir, and one of our own Ailish Mc Entee on her election to the position of County Secretary he wished them both well in their new posts. Concluding he said " the club executive will endeavour to lead the way as the Sean Mc Dermotts GAC facilitates a place to meet, to deliberate, to plan, to play, to make new friends and to maintain friendships, to cheer and shout for our teams and most of all to support and be there for each other as a thriving and supportive community". Because of space limitations this is only a very brief résumé, details of executive committee personnel next week, full content of reports and chairman address can be view by clicking here. Party Night - We celebrate our Christmas party night on Friday night next 14th December, this is an opportunity for members and supporters of the club to come along and enjoy themselves. The club is availing of this opportune occasion to make a presentation to Frank and Joan Mc Cabe. Frank and Joan have decided to call time on their bar tending duties after more than a decade of outstanding service and reliability to the club. No doubt many of the patrons served with a welcome and a smile will be there on Friday night to acknowledge this pairs unique charm and friendliness. Presentation apart, we will be getting into the festive swing with music, dancing, and refreshments served, a night not to be missed! County Secretary - It was an occasion of pride for the Seans club and especially so for the club members present at county convention last Thursday night when Ailish Mc Entee was elected to the position of county secretary. Ailish has been involved with the Sean's since childhood, has served on our executive committee holding down the position of An runaí for almost a decade. She has been involved in administration at county level too for many years now. When the opportunity arose, initially reluctant, she was encouraged to contest the vacant county secretary's position. Unashamedly fair, Ailish can be assured she will have her clubs continuos support in this onerous position, we all wish her well in it. Totto - The number drawn last week 6,2,1,5,4,3,7 was not correctly forecast. The multi draw €40 winner was Dana Mc Mahon Donegal, the €20 prizes were claimed by Edward Murphy Ballagh, Thomas Duffy Ballybay, Susan Lynch Newbliss, Lee Mc Quillan Lisnalong, and Mary Mc Phillips Scotshouse. Next week's Jackpot is €1,200 Club Merchandise - Replica club jerseys the ideal Christmas gift are available from club treasurer Mary Mc Connon any evening after 7.00pm. Tele No.047-57331. To avoid further delay all attending are requested to come early to allow proceeding get under way promptly at nine. With a long agenda on the night and numerous reports to digest this is the administrative highlight of the year, as both the club and youth secretaries present their reports on activities both on and off the field. No doubt the treasurer's report will come in for some scrutiny as members decipher the income and expense figures. It will be left to the chairman to outline plans for the future and there is sure to be a battle to gain a seat round the executive table for 2008. If your are a member of Sean Mc Diarmada GAC then the complex on Friday night at nine o' clock is the place to be. Totto - After the success of AliceMc Carville Tappa scooping our Totto jackpot of €1,500 just two week ago, Paul Mc Guinness Cornasoo came within a whisker of walking away with €1000 last week, unfortunately for Paul he had the last two number drawn reversed and his potential bankroll was reduced to €200. Well done to both lucky winners and a word of appreciation to all who continue to support this weekly social members draw. Such is the regularity with which our jackpot is going it appears there never was a better time to purchase an envelope or one of the multi draw options on offer, especially if you are looking for a little wind fall before Christmas. The €40 beneficiary of our generosity last week was Eamon Prunty Cabra. The €20 winners were Paddy Mc Guinness Cornasoo, John Mc Donald Lisnaskea, Frank Mc Cabe Snr Tattenclave, and the card playing combinations of PJ Murphy / Patsy Mc Carron and Mickey Mc Mahon/ Pete Keenan The number drawn were 1,6,7,3,2,5,4.Next week's jackpot is €1,100. The Under 13 panel come together on Thursday evenings for an hour long session at 7.00pm The search has begun for coaches willing to participate with our under age teams next year. If you have the time to commit a couple of hours a week in this very important area then Enda Murphy or Nigel Lynch would be delighted to hear from you. With growing number especially in the lower age group more parental involvement would be most welcome. Seans Notes 29/11/07 New look Social centre - The unveiling of our new look social centre after the last couple of weeks of redecoration takes place on Saturday night next 1st December. Everyone is invited along to joint the celebrations. A special word of thanks to all who helped complete this metamorphosis, and with Christmas just around the corner what better way of getting into the festive mood than by savouring the party atmosphere on Saturday night. See you all there. Totto - The numbers drawn 1,7,6,4,3,2,5,last week were correctly forecast, by AliceMc Carville Tappa who nets herself €1,500 for her effort. The paid up multi draw prize of €40 went to Noel Clerkin & Patsy Mc Carron cardplayers. The €20 winners were Ann Croakin Killykeragh, Lisa Dowd Cootehill, Francie Murphy Carnbane, Linda & Sarah Mc Grory Monaghan, Francie Murphy & Pete Keenan cardplayers. Next weeks jackpot is €1,000. Club Merchandise - Don't forget club treasurer Mary Mc Connon will be delight to kit out any of your loved ones in the club colours. She had a range club merchandise ranging from fleeces, jackets to replica jerseys from 5-6 years right up to adult sizes. Ideal Christmas gifts, these items are moving nicely, but to avoid disappointment make your enquiries soon AGM - Club members are reminded that our Annual General Meeting takes place on Friday 7th December. As mentioned last week the starting time has been deferred until 9.00pm and not 8.30 as originally notified. All members should note this time change. Procedure has to be adhered to and a quorum reached before the meeting can get under way. Its important then to avoid further delay that everyone attending is punctual. Congratulations - The club extends our heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Paraic Duffy on his appointment as the new Director General. A most able administrator, our club like most in the county have benefited immensely from, and have cause to be grateful to his leadership here in Monaghan. It's his fair-mindedness, the soundness of advice, friendship, and most of all his integrity that has made him such a respected figure throughout the association, he certainly has the good wishes of all in the Seans as he assumes this onerous role. Switch off and Shut up - With the arrival of the long dark nights and the greater demand on energy can I remind organisations and individuals who use the club's facilities to be mindful of the need to be energy efficient. Avoid wastage, switch on only heating and lighting that is required and insure when the session or activity is over that everything is turned off. The same applies to securing the playing pitches, and the complex building, make sure gates are closed and doors locked when activities are concluded. Everyone's co-operation is sought in regard to this issue. Seans Notes 22/11/07 Development - Craftsmen and machinery were back on site last week, as work recommences on the terracing of the hill side embankment, given favourable weather conditions much of this work should be completed in a relatively short period of time. Plans for the roadside development are also well advanced, but club member will be given first hand information on this the next proposed phase at our AGM which is scheduled for early December. Work on refurbishing the social centre is also moving at pace and this week should see all interior decoration completed with official unveiling set for Saturday 1st December; everyone invited. Bon Voyage - The Club wishes youth committee member Brenda Mc Morrows the very best as she embarks on her travels this week, we hope she has a safe enjoyable and memorable time. Brenda has done trojan work with the youth of our community over the last few years and they turned out in force to acknowledge that commitment at her surprise farewell party on Friday night last. A deserved send off; well done to the youthful organisers. Speedy Recovery - Get well wishes are sent to executive committee member Paul Kelly who is currently recovering in hospital. We hope his stay there will be short and that he will soon be out and about again and fit to rejoin the Friday night club. He is greatly missed and his absence keenly felt by all the members of this social debating fraternity who send him a special hurry up and get well message. Congratulations - We extend heartiest congratulations to Michael Mc Guinness and Áine Codd, who tied the matrimonial knot on Saturday last, and wish them health, wealth, and happiness and of course continued sporting success in their future married life together. Well earned Break - No; not the players, but a couple who have served the club with distinction and a loyalty that had to be seen to be believed. For a dozen years and more Frank and Joan Mc Cabe have tended bar in our social centre. They have very recently decided to take a well-earned break from this activity. To say the club owes them a debt of gratitude is an understatement. Integrity, reliability, and jovial hospitality were their trade mark qualities, the goodwill they have accrued and generated for the club over the last decade could never be adequately quantified or measured. An indication of the high regard both are held in was aptly demonstrated by the huge volume of queries from our bingo patrons elicited by the couples obvious absence, as one lady was heard to lament "Monday night isn't the same without Frank". We'll give them a little time to unwind, relax and grow into their new retirement mode; later on they may consider making a return to Monday night if only to occasionally renew old acquaintances. In the mean time watch this column for details of Frank and Joan presentation night…club acknowledgement of their stirling service. Totto - The numbers drawn 1,7,6,4,3,2,5,last week were not correctly forecast, the paid up multi draw prize of €40 went to Emmett Connolly Carnbane. The €20 winners were Dana Mc Mahon Donegal, Locan Quinn Castleblaney, Beagan Girls Roslea, Danny Clerkin & PJ Murphy, Mags & Shives Main St Roslea. Next weeks jackpot is €1,500. Christmas Gifts - With the festive season just round the corner it's time to consider those Christmas gifts, why not treat the younger members of the family boys and girls to a club replica jersey. These are available from club treasurer Mary Mc Connon at 047-57331 any evening after 7.00pm. Launched last week was the DVD… The Heritage Trail of Kilmore and Drumsnatt, excellent viewing of the many and varied heritage sites throughout our parish, an ideal gift for anyone from the area whether at home or abroad and available in all the local shops. AGM - Club members are reminded that the AGM takes place on Friday 7th December, there is a slight change to the starting time, proceeding will now commence at 9.00pm and not 8.30 as originally outlined in the secretary's notification. All members should note this time change. Scor na nÓg - Our club representatives Aoife, James, Stephen and Emmett kept the club flag flying in this competition excellently hosted by the Killeevan club in the Acorn Centre Newbliss on Friday night last. Although they failed to progress they are to be congratulated, their gallant efforts it was very much appreciated. Seans Notes 15/11/07 Senior Team - Our senior team completed their intermediate league fixture programme on Sunday last at TMH. With little at stake the outcome was not totally unexpected, but it was our boy’s inability to match the urgency of the visitors especially in the opening half that was particularly frustrating. Despite drawing first blood with a Damien Larkin free in the first minute, it was Truagh who took over thanks to their midfield dominance. They tagged on scores with ease and regularity. By the time Shane O Neill had added our second point in the twenty-third minute we were already seven points adrift. Before the half time whistle sounded they had added three further points the last from the penalty spot, Gary Mc Entee responded with a point to leave it Seans 0 – 3 Truagh 0 –12. No doubt a stern half time pep talk had some effect and our boys were much more competitive and out scored the visitors in the second period to leave the final scoreline Seans 1 – 6 Truagh 0 –15, the goal a real belter coming from James Treanor in the twenty sixth minute. Injured - The big talking point from Sunday’s game was the loss of Damien Larkin with what appeared to be a serious knee injury. With the game only minutes old Damien pulled up writhing in pain, he was stretcher off and transferred to hospital. Discharged later on Sunday evening they full extend of the injury is not yet know, but every Seans supporter is hoping that it will not be as serious as it first appeared and that our talisman will have recovered for the start of the new season. Annual General Meeting - Reminder to all club members to complete and return their nomination forms to Club Secretary Sean Mc Elvaney by Friday 16th November (that this Friday). Pencil into your diary too the date of the AGM which is Friday 7th December. Totto - The numbers 4,2,5,3,6,7,1 drawn last week were not correctly forecast. The €40 winner was Cristina Coyle Mullinavanog, and the €20 prizes were claimed by Noleen Coyle Rooskey, Elizabeth Prunty Cabra, Anne Marie Mc Mahon Gortmore, Bridie Murphy Blackrawe, Sonia Mc Gorman Aghabog.Next week's Jackpot is €1400. End of season Players get together - The senior playing panel and the management team enjoy an end of season get together on Sunday last. The defeat to Truagh soon forgotten as the players joined to celebrate the end of another season and a couple of months rest. Unwinding with a bit of music, some light refreshment, and a full and exquisite banquet table prepared by Seanine Larkin, the lads tucking in with a little more gusto and desire than they had shown a few hours earlier … a meal fit for kings. A sincere thank you to Seanine for the excellent cuisine to Fiona Mc Mahon for the invaluable assistance both ladies involvement insuring this occasion was both enjoyable and successful. Lads… don’t hibernate take a bit of exercise, it will leave it easier when recall is sounded towards the end of January. Scor na nÓg - Club representatives are wished all the best in the first semi-final of the Scor na nÓg competition, which take place in Newbliss on Friday night 16th Nov. All support would be much appreciated Sympathy - The club extend sincerest sympathy to Club President Seamus Timoney on the death of his sister Mary Friel, Killybegs. Seans Notes 8/11/07 Senior Team - On Sunday next at 2.30 p.m. our senior squad complete their intermediate league programme when they entertain Truagh the team sitting at the top of the league table at TMH. Having already taken all available league point from their last two outing against Monaghan Harps and Tyholland and pushed themselves clear of the relegation zone in the process our boys will be hoping for another victory to round off their season. When the sides met at St Mellans earlier in the year Truagh handed out a real footballing lesson to a less than full strength visiting outfit. With pride hurting from that encounter and anxious to end the season on a high hopefully our boys will choose this occasion to produce one of their best performance of the year and give our big band of loyal supporters something to cheer about. Annual General Meeting - The club’s AGM is schedule for Friday 7th December, club secretary Sean Mc Elvaney is currently sending out the relevant notification. Hopefully a good percentage of our two hundred plus membership will take the time to read his correspondence and return their nominations forms by the appropriate date, and an even bigger number will be present on the first Friday night in December as the various reports are presented of the years activities is reviewed. Totto - The numbers 1,4,6,7,2,5,3 drawn last week were not correctly forecast. The €40 winner was Sean Mc Elvaney Cooldaragh, and the €20 prizes were claimed by Grainne O Connell Newbliss, P.J. Hughes Armagh, Olivia & Gerry Cabra, Dessie Mc Connon Monaghan, Bernadette Kilpatrick Carn.Next week's Jackpot is €1300. End of season Players get together - After their final game of the year on Sunday, the players have their end of season get together in the complex. This is an occasion where the club provides some light refreshments for the players, wives, girlfriends, and the management team, a small gesture of appreciation for their effort over the year. Hoping to see everyone there refreshments will be served around 5 o clock it will of course be all the more palatable if they have managed to get a result against Truagh. Activities time table - Badminton for adult and over 15’s resumes in the main hall on Tuesday evenings from 8.30 to 10.30. Wednesday the under 8 and 10 are centre stage they also have an outdoor session on Saturday morning at 10.00 On Thursday evening indoor bowls is the anchor activity from 8.30 – 10.30, this is preceded by the Under 13 hour long session commencing at 7o clock . Seans Notes 1/11/07| Senior Team - On Sunday afternoon our senior team's quest for intermediate survival was finally realised when they held out for a one point victory over Tyholland on a scoreline of Seans 1 - 7 Tyholland 0 - 9.Our boys showed their intent, racing into a 1 - 2 lead after only eight minutes of play, the goal coming in the third minute after the usually attentive home defence was stretched and Nigel Lynch raised the green flag from close range, from play James Treanor followed up with a brace of points. Paul Askin got Tyholland of the mark with an eleventh minute free and Derek Mc Mahon had a similar score for Seans two minutes later. Stephen Mc Elvaney's tagged on two points from play, in between Mc Elvaney's scores Gary Mc Entee in the twenty first minute had the opportunity to put the game out of reach, but our big travelling support watch in disbelief as his hurried shot failed to find the target with the goalkeeper nowhere to be seen a victim of the slippery under foot conditions. A pointed free by Raymond Ronaghan and another from play from the same player plus one from midfielder Mc Ardle had Tyholland back in the match as the teams headed for the dressing room, the score board reading Tyholland 0 - 4 Seans 1 - 5. Early Seans pressure yielded only three wides in as many minutes, and when Paul Askin landed two free in the third and sixth minute to close the gap to two points and goalkeeper Mark Keogh had to be at his alert and agile best to prevent that gap been eliminated altogether, I doubt if many of our supporters felt at this stage that the interval lead could be defended. The introduction of Damien Larkin gave our lads a much need boast and he announced his arrival with a well struck free in the eight minute. Five minutes later the Tyholland goalkeeper was out like a flash to deny an almost certain goal with a breathtaking and courageous save. Paddy Kieran (sen) renewed hope with a fisted point after being well set up by an intelligently delayed pass by his youthful namesake. More agony for our supporters as they watched again in disbelief a low shot from James Treanor skimmed the outside of the upright. In the twentieth minute Gary Mc Quaid hit a good long range point from play and from the resultant kickout goalkeeper Keogh had to be alert again to kept our boys noses in front with another superb save. Raymond Ronaghan landed a thirty five metre free in the twenty third minute, our supporters breathed sighs of relief as two efforts from the usually reliable Ronaghan a little further out were inches out side the target. Paul Askin completed the scoring with a convert free in the twenty eight minute, and our boys deservedly held on despite Tyhollands valiant effort to wrestle a share of the spoils in those long slow closing minutes. The team was Mark Keogh, Damien Connolly, Emylin Clerkin, Noel Rice, Barry Mc Guinness Patrick Kieran (Sen) Michael Mc Guinness, Christopher Connolly, Gary Mc Entee,Derek Mc Mahon, Patrick Kieran, Nigel Lynch,Shane O' Neill, Stephen Mc Elvaney, James Treanor, Subs used Damien Larkin for Nigel Lynch, David Treanor for Shane O' Neill. With promotion already secured and an eye on the Ulster club championship Tyholland rang the changes from the side that had competed in Clones, from our view point this left them even more formidable the new comers obviously out to impress the manager. Credit then to our lads for matching the intensity of their high flying opponents in all areas of the field, few I hope will quibble if I give the accolade of star man on this occasion to our goalkeeper Mark Keogh. The final game of their season is at home to another highflying outfit Truagh in a couple of weeks time. Totto - The numbers drawn 5,4,6,3,2,1,7last week were not correctly forecast the paid up multi draw prize of €40 went to Seamus Mulligan, Threemilehouse. The €20 bank holiday weekend winners were G. Sherlock Glaslough St. Monaghan, Beggan Girls Roslea, Paul Kelly & Sinead Deery, John Murphy Blackrawe, Mary Mc Rory Woodview, John Mc Donald Lisnaskea, A. Ellis c/o PJ Murphy, Brian Murphy Cornasoo, Margaret Connolly Carnbane, and Enda Mc Cague Cormeen. Next week's Jackpot is €1200 Seans Notes 25/10/07 Senior Team - On Saturday afternoon last at TMH our senior squad eased their relegation troubles somewhat with a spirited victory over Monaghan Harps on a scoreline of Seans 1-12 Monaghan Harps 0 - 9. The under strength Harps side never really produced the football that has propelled them to the top of the league and our boys for once took full advantage of the visiting opponents frailties. Although not completely out of the drop zone yet, but with only two games remaining they have after Saturdays crucial two league points now a three point cushion over their nearest relegation contender. On this occasion there was an urgency and a unity of purpose that has not been evident often enough in this campaign, but credit where it is due Saturday was a good performance and an even better result. Not; strange as it may seem because we beat our old rival the Harps but because we are two points closer to intermediate football salvation. Shane O Neill and Derek Mc Mahon were star performers and the latter's fortuitous goal putting the game beyond doubt just when the visitors were starting to gain a foothold around the middle of the field and exert pressure. All the team play their part but they will be again up against it when they travel to Tyholland on Sunday next to renew rivalry with the newly promoted championship winners. Such is the complexities of the intermediate league, if results go in our favour we can still unlikely as it seems qualify for a semi- final spot but we can also still be relegated. We'd settle for safety! Juvenile Roundup - The under 13 panel's Thursday night session continues as usual from 7 to-8 o'clock all members should attend. The under 8 /10 session continues on Saturday mornings at 10 o'clock. Remember indoor and outdoor gear is a requirement for all participants for all sessions convened at this time of year. Get well - We wish a speedy recovery to Martin Kieran who sustained a serious ankle injury in last Saturday’s game. Martin was one of our most consistent defensive performer this year and while this injury has undoubtedly ruled him out of taking any further part in this years campaign we hope his stay in hospital will be short and that he will have recover fully to take up duty for the start of the next year. Totto - The numbers 7,3,2,6,5,4,1 drawn last week were not correctly forecast but Aisling Treanor Mulladuff Smithboro came very close managing the first five and netting herself €200 for her effort The paid up multi draw prize of €40 went to Eileen Lynch Cabra. The €20 winners were Martin & Eileen Mc Mahon Killydonnelly, Fergal Mc Guigan Mullinahinch, Sean Mc Mahon Cabra, Dana Mc Mahon Donegal and Chloe Mc Quillan Chois Abhainn Next week jackpot is €1,100 Replica Jerseys - Available from Mary Mc Connon at 047-57331 any evening after 7.00pm Firóige Information night - A final reminder that this information night is on tonight Thursday in the complex starting time is 7.30pm. Firóige’s county development officer of will be attending and will have answers to all your questions make sure you are there to ask them. Sympathy - Sincerest sympathy is extended to the Steenson family on the death of Robert Steenson Annaglough, and to the Mulligan and Mc Phillips families on the death of Tommy Mc Carville Newbliss. Go ndeana Dia trócaire ar a n-anamacha. Seans Notes 18/10/07 Senior Team - On Sunday last our senior squad slipped further into relegation trouble when they were caught at the death; a goal in the sixth minute of legitimate injury time, gave Emyvale the slenderest of winning margins and more importantly the precious two league points. It was a cruel twist as it was the first time our boys were headed. It was always worrying our lads lack of composure in front of goal when presented with good scoring chances but it was the inability to take advantage of their numerical superiority to put this game out of reach of the home side that was the real cause of this reversal. On Saturday next they have another tough encounter against the table toppers Monaghan Harps when they visit TMH for a 3 o' clock throw in. Juvenile Roundup - The weekly get together for our Under 13 panel commences tonight Thursday 18th October, at 7.0 clock all members are asked to attend this one hour session. The €20 winners were Edward Murphy Ballagh, Fergal Mc Guigan Mullinahinch, Christina Coyle Rooskey, Eva Martin Newbliss, and Tony Mc Guinness Aughnamallagh Next week jackpot is €1,000 Replica Jerseys - Available from Mary Mc Connon at 047-57331 any evening after 7.00pm Firóige Information night - Parent and anyone interested are reminded to pencil into their diaries the date for the information meeting on Firóige: Thursday 25th October in the complex starting time is 7.30pm. Anyone in these age categories is welcome and encouraged to attend to attend. Seans Notes 11/10/07 Senior Team - On Sunday next action for our senior squad recommences after the idleness of the last few weeks when they travel to Emyvale for a 12.30 throw in. Results from their most recent league outings were particularly disappointing especially as the inability to add to our tally of league points has plummeted us into the relegation zone. Emyvale are in a similar lowly league position and like ourselves will be anxious to prolong their intermediate status. The result of Sunday's match is seen by both clubs no doubt as a must win game if that dream is to be realised. Credit to our lads, for they have work hard on the training pitch over this recent period of inactivity, hopefully that effort will be well rewarded with a much needed victory on Sunday. I know many of our supporters are disgruntled by the team’s Jackal and Hyde performances over the course of the league campaign, but for the few games that remains let's continue to give them all the support we can as they bid to stop the slide. Juvenile Roundup - Our under 13 side were ousted from the knock out stages of the division 2 competition in the semi-final by Killanny on Saturday morning last on a scoreline of Killanny 5 - 11 Seans 2 -5. Nothing on this occasion went right for our youngsters and the Killanny lads were razor sharp and quick to punish any mistakes. Conor Kearns, Dwayne Mc Caffrey, Colin Mc Elvaney James Mc Aleer Enda Connolly and Niall Kearns tried there best to stem the red tide but with too many of our lads playing second fiddle the writing was always on the wall. That said, they deserve credit for reaching this stage of what was a very keenly contested division, a word of thanks to the whole panel for their attendance at training, to Tony and Cormac for over seeing these sessions and to Aisling for looking after their first aid needs. For the record the 2007 under 13 panel were, Sean & Conor Freeman, James & Mathew Mc Guirk, Conor & Niall Kearns, Colin & Aisling Mc Elvaney, Shane Farrell, James Mc Carron Kevin Mc Mahon, James Mc Aleer, Conor Mc Elroy, James Connolly, Daniel Mc Carron, Dwayne Mc Caffrey, Rian Mc Guinness, Pierce Murphy, Carl Moffet, Cian Treanor, Enda Connolly, Aidan Ward, Rian Mc Entee, Dillon Keenan, Niall Murphy, Patrick Mc Cabe, Dara Bell, Paul Bannon, Dillon Mc Nally. We hope to see all of the above squad at the weekly session which will continue on Thursday evenings over the winter at 7.00pm commencing on Thursday 18th October, indoor and outdoor gear required. Totto - The numbers drawn 3,2,7,1,5,4,6, last week were not correctly forecast, the paid up multi draw prize of €40 went to the Stuart Family Drumguill. The €20 winners were Bernie Tackney Killtubrid, Aisling Mc Guigan Mullinahinch, P.J. & Kate Togan, Eva Martin Newbliss, Mary Clarke Gortmore Next weeks jackpot is €1,500. Firóige Information night. An information meeting on Firóige will be held in the complex on Thursday 25th October commencing at 7.30pm. This is an open invitation to come along to this informal get together, where the county development officer will provide all relevant information. No doubt the level of response and interest to this invitation will determine if there is sufficient support for the formation of a Firóige club. Why not come along and at least find out what’s it all about, our teenagers deserved that don’t they? Badminton - Badminton has resumed on Tuesday evenings for fifteen year olds and over; adults are also very welcome. Co-ordinators of this activity are to be congratulated but what will please them most is to see large numbers participating in this healthy and enjoyable sport over the coming winter months. The planned time slot is from 8.30 to 10.30pm. Seans Notes 4/10/2007 Juvenile Roundup - Our under 13 side justified qualification for the knock out stages of the Division 2 competition when they held on for a one point win against a very determined Cremartin outfit on Friday night last on a scoreline of Cremartin 3 - 13 Seans 5 - 8. Dwayne Mc Caffrey was man of the match performing heroically in our defence, as the home side matched our lads in every area and never let up in their effort to claim the two points. Our boys know well; they will all have to produce a much improved performance on Saturday next against a fancied and talented Killanny side if they are to stake a claim to a final place. It was all square when these sides met at TMH a few weeks ago, but with home advantage and that coveted final place at stake Killanny are going to be a very tough nut to crack on this occasion. Throw in time for this semi final in Killany is 11.30 am, bus leaves the complex at10 o'clock via St Michael's school Corcaghan at 10.10. Parental and family support would be very welcome next Saturday morning. Coaching continues this evening Thurs. at 6.30pm all panellists are requested to attend. Totto - The numbers drawn 7,6,4,5,2,1,3 last week were not correctly forecast, the paid up multi draw prize of €40 went to the Jim Mc Guirk Tappa. The €20 winners were Mary Clarke Gortmore, Annie Mc Skane Clontibret, Betty Farnan Corvalley Bradox, Mary Mc Connon Killnaclay, Ann Brennan Clontibret, Next weeks jackpot is €1,400 Just to remind supporters of our weekly social members draw that there are numerous draw options available to suit every pocket, that will insure inclusion in every prize draw. Replica Jerseys - Available from Mary Mc Connon at 047-57331 any evening after 7.00pm Bowls - Indoor bowls every Thursday night in the main hall commencing at 8.30 p.m.new participants’always welcome, Coaching courses - Don't forget those coaching courses in Cloghan during October. Get well - The club send get well wishes and a speedy return to full health to Ciaran Mulligan, Ciaran under went major surgery last week on a serious back complaint that had plagued him since his youth. During his playing days he had to adopted a strict personal fitness regime to curtail the effects of this injury and regularly played through the pain barrier to line out for the club. No doubt the single mindedness and determination he displayed then will again come to the fore and will help keep his rehabilitation and recovery time to a minimum. We look forward to seeing him resume his usual activities in the very near future. Also ready to resume their activities on the playing field are under 13’s Dillon Keenan and Enda Connolly both have recovered from nasty injuries received recently, school and club are delighted to have them back. Seans Notes 27/9/2007 Juvenile Roundup - Our under 13 side have qualified for the semi final of the Division 2 competition on Saturday 6th October against Killanny. These game has an earlier than usual Saturday starting time of 11.30 in Killanny. Before that though they complete their programme of league games when they travel to Cremartin tomorrow night (Fri) for a 6.30 throw in. Bus leaves the complex at 5.40 sharp via St Michael school carpark at 5.50, all panellist are asked to be these collection points. Totto - The numbers drawn 7,2,5,4,1,6,3, last week were not correctly forecast, the paid up multi draw prize of €40 went to the Gerard Duffy Kiltubrid. The €20 winners were Kathleen Mc Elvaney Cabra, Pauline Kieran Cabra, Emma Louise Gormley Monaghan, Patsy Prunty Cabra, and Bridie Leonard Aghabog, Next weeks jackpot is €1,300 Replica Jerseys - Available from Mary Mc Connon at 047-57331 any evening after 7.00pm Bowls - Everyone in the club wish Frank Mc Connon and Paraic Greenan a speedy return to full health, both men are ardent supporters of the club and active members of the bowling fraternity. They in particular are looking forward to seeing them out and about again and back at the mat in the not too distant future. Coaching courses - A number of coaching course are scheduled for Cloghan during October, these are targeted at coaches in the underage levels. This is an ideal opportunity for parents (male/female) to become involved in our own Elco oils under age coaching activity. The courses begin each evening at 7.30 and are of two hours duration approx. On Wednesday 3rd Oct coaching "Fundamentals" for 6-8 years olds starts the ball rolling. On Thursday 11th it’s the turn of 10 -12 year olds "Learn to Train", then a week later on 18th what should be coached to 14-16 year olds in "Train to Train" will be the topic dealt with. Anyone interested in attending any or all of these courses should forward their name to Enda Murphy 087-7840460 as soon as possible. Within the club there are consistently high numbers of children attending our Elco Oil coaching programme and greater coach and parent participation is always welcome and needed. There will never be a better time to arm your self with the information available at these courses and then become an active participant in our own clubs under age coaching programme. Cumman Na mBunscoil - St Michael's and St Mary's schools recorded victories in games in their respective sections of the C na mB competition played at Pairc Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada, on Tuesday morning last. St Mary's proved too strong for visitors Rockcorry while St Michaels sporting their new jerseys accounted for Latnamard. Next week (Tuesday) St Marys are at home against Corduff, while St Michaels make the short journey to Gransha for their next outing. Support at these games would be very welcome. Seans Notes 20/9/2007 Senior teams - No games for the senior squad until 14th October when they travel to Emyvale, until then is a case of everyone one on the panel making the effort to attend the regular coaching sessions. To secure another couple of league wins it's definitely requires all hands on the pumps. Juvenile Roundup - Our under 13 side travelled to Cremartin needing a win to qualify for the knock out stages in this their last league fixture of the competition, unfortunately the game didn't materialise and will have to be rescheduled. Both side showed their competitiveness in a keenly contested friendly, our lad finding it equally as tough to get to grips with some of the very talented girls on this Cremartin side as well as with some of the decision of the travelling referee, needless to say he was "politely" told what he was on the bus journey home. These lads are from games next Saturday but all are reminded not to miss the twice-weekly coaching sessions. Totto - The numbers drawn 4,2,7,5,1,3,6, last week were not correctly forecast, the paid up multi draw prize of €40 went to the Stuart family Drunguill. The €20 winners were Jimmy Mc Connon Gortmore, Gerry Lynch & Pete Keenan Card players, Lorraine Hirtes Carnbane, C. Cullan Cabra, and Louise & Maggie Reilly Rockcorry. Next weeks jackpot is €1,200 Replica Jerseys - Mary Mc Connon at 047-57331 any evening after 7.00pm has still a few of these coveted Jerseys available but stocks are dwindling fast, to avoid disappointment don't leave it to late to contact Mary. Bowls - The Bowling club made a welcome return to playing activities on Thursday night last. Frank Mc Cabe tells me there were a few new faces on view but he and the rest of the regulars involved in this enjoyable Thursday night activity would like to see the numbers swell even more. The invitation is open for both ladies and gentlemen; why not try your hand at it, starting time is 8.30pm and all comers will be made welcome Seans Notes 13/9/2007 Senior teams - The senior team although under strength put up a better performance against Cremartin on Sunday last, but still ended up on the wrong side of the result going down by a single point in the end. Poor distribution around the middle of the field was the principle cause of this demise, coupled with too many indiscretions in defence, which were summarily punished by an in form Cremartin free taker. League games are fast running out, all championships will be getting priority over the next few weeks so the result of the next outing against Emyvale on14th October will have a major bearing on our status in 2008. Even at this late stage a concerted effort by all the players can still secure enough league points to push them out of trouble and away from the relegation zone. Juvenile Roundup - Our under 13 side secured a very valuable league point when they shared the spoils with visitors Killanny on Saturday evening last at TMH. A cheeky goal strike from a 13 metre free by Kevin Mc Mahon was the fillip our boys need to hold out against a very well balanced Killanny outfit. Next Saturday they travel to Cremartin for their final league game, a win here would almost certainly guarantee them a place in the knock out stages of this competition. All panellist are asked to be at the assembly points … Complex 3.00 … St Michael's N.S 3.10 There was great excitement at Pairc Sheain Mhic Dhiarmada on Sunday after noon last when our youngest brigade of footballers paraded on to the field. Boys and girls in the under 8 exhibition game thrilled the big crowd of parents and family members who turned out to cheer them on, and the lads in the U10 match served up a delightful game of entertaining football; definitely a few county players in the making! Elco Oils supremo Hugh Mc Elvaney who has sponsored this; the clubs internal coaching and games programme since its inception some twenty year ago was again on hand to present the fifty strong '07 programme participants with O' Neill's " first touch" footballs. The arrival of shorter evenings and return to school means coaching activity will have to be scaled back to Saturday mornings at 10 o'clock but for the next week or so coaching sessions will continue on Monday and Thursday evenings at 6.30pm. All participants are encouraged to practice at home but watch out for those windows. Regular participant unable to attend last Sunday should talk to coaches Enda and Nigel about getting their hands on their very own football. Totto - The numbers 7,4,5,1,3,2,6 drawn last weekend were not correctly forecast. The €40 prizewinners were Noel Clerkin/Patsy Mc Carron card players. The €20 winners were Nan Rudden Castleblaney, Nicola Mc Guigan Scotstown, Patrick Mc Entee Lower Drumguill, Sean Connolly Tullygillen, John & Elizabeth Prunty Cabra. Jackpot next week €1,100 Replica Jerseys - These much sought after club jerseys are going like hot cakes, anyone wanting to get there hand on one should contact Mary Mc Connon as soon as possible at 047-57331 any evening after 6.00pm. Children jerseys cost €37.50 with adult ones costing €5 more. Congratulations - To Mr & Mrs Stevo; Stephen Mc Elvaney and Emma O Donaghue who tied the matrimonial knot recently, the club community wish them every happiness as they embark on married life. To Laura Bagan; the musical ability of her family is well known but at the weekend it was Laura’s accordian playing expertise that secured her 1st place and a coveted All Ireland title. Another man celebrating All Ireland success also at the weekend was Micháel Mc Guinness as he watched Wexford and Aine Codd no doubt in particular lift the All Ireland Comogie title. Congratulations to all. Development - The fine weather of last week coupled with the expertise of the Mc Guirk brothers Jim and Patrick saw the hillside retaining wall all one hundred and sixty metres materialise almost overnight. A couple of weeks curing and hopefully the weather will still be as kind for the nest piece in the jigsaw more concrete pouring… and the terraced spectator steps should appear. Seans Notes 6/9/2007 Senior teams - Our senior squad bowed out of the Intermediate championship at Ballybay on Saturday evening last going under to a sharper and keener Corduff outfit. It was score for score in the opening twenty minutes, but the decisive score of the game came in the closing stages of this half, our defence caught napping when they failed to clear a ricocheted of the upright and could only watch haplessly as the ball was firmly planted in the net. Try as they did in the second half they never really threatened to overhaul their opponents. The way results have gone in the last few outings it's time now for all on the panel to put their shoulder to the wheel and try to salvage something from the season, intermediate survival a minimum requisite. This push has to begin next Sunday at 12.30 when Cremartin are visitors to TMH, but with five games left in the league its important that everyone on the panel attends the regular coaching/training sessions. We all know our playing panel has been decimated by injuries and retirements in a very short space of time but there is no point bemoaning this fact. We now need all the players to accept collective responsibility, show leadership and play their way out of this trough, if they try, and try they must, our supporters will continue to keep faith and believe better days are ahead. Juvenile Roundup - Our under 13 side suffered a heavy defeat at the hand of Donaghmoyne on Friday evening last, although considerably understrength it wasn't one of these lads better performances. To add to their woes Enda Connolly suffered a serious arm injury necessitating a visit to the hospital, we wish Enda a speedy return to under 13 activity. A word of appreciation and thanks to Aisling and Monica for the first aid and medical care administered on this occasion. On Saturday next at 4 o' clock this squad have home advantage in their penultimate league game in this competition against Killanny, nothing short of a win will do if they are to make it to the knock out stages. Hopefully all the niggling injuries will have cleared up and everyone will have recovered and a full panel will be available for selection, all panel members should be in the dressing rooms by 3.30. Totto - Congratulation to Elizabeth and John Prunty Cabra who correctly forecast the sequence of numbers drawn last weekend. They netted themselves the jackpot prize of €1,400 for their effort. The lucky numbers were 6,1,3,2,5,7,4. The €40 prizewinner was Malachy Clerkin Threemilehouse; The €20 winners were Brian Mc Phillips Sleiveroe.Kevin Mc Morrow Drumsheeney, Ilana Prunty Cabra, Teresa Mullarky Knockatallon, Molly Kenny Threemilehouse Replica Jerseys - Anyone wishing to purchase a club replica jersey can do so by contacting Mary Mc Connon on 057-57331 any evening after 7.00pm. These jerseys come in the full range of children sizes from 5-6 years upwards and in regular adult sizes too. They will also be available to purchase at the Elco Oils presentation and games demonstration at Club Headquarters on Sunday next. Elco Oils - The long awaited underage Elco Oils exhibition games deferred from our Annual Sports Day back in August will now take place on Sunday next at 2.00pm. It is planned to commence the Under 8 match immediately after the Intermediate game with Cremartin concludes. With the Under 10 game due to get underway around 3.45pm. Hugh Mc Elvaney Elco Oils MD who has sponsored this project since its inception twenty year ago will make the presentation to this year's participants. The coaches will be there, Hughie will be there, but it most important that all our young participants are also there to parade their talent and pick up their awards. Seans Notes 30/8/2007 Coaching Sessions - As arranged with coaches Senior teams - After the elation of successfully progressing to the next round of the Championship and a tilt with Corduff in Ballybay on Saturday evening next. Our Senior team choose last week to produced two of their poorest performances in the league this summer, what galls most is of course dropping the points, but in derby games, in back to back performances, and against the same opposition! On Wednesday night last at TMH they squandered not one but two four point leads as Rockcorry finished with their goalkeeper up front and he was instrumental in setting up the decisive scores that insured the two point went the visitors way. On Saturday another lack lustre performance saw Rockcorry again bag the points to leapfrog over us in the league table and propel themselves into contention for a play off place and leave us looking very much over our shoulders at the regulation zone. The mentors and supporters will be hoping that this rut the team find themselves in will be short lived and they can deliver a much improved performance in Ballybay on Saturday night next at 5.15 with pride and passion in our beloved saffron and white much more in evidence. Juvenile Roundup - Our Minor squad bowed out of the championship on Tuesday evening last when they were comprehensively beaten by Truagh.Well done to the panel for their commitment and dedication to a well earned longer than usual playing season. The under 13 squad notched up another two league points when they accounted for the Aghabog Killeevan combination Emmett Sarsfields at TMH on Friday evening last. On Friday (tomorrow) they travel to Donaghmoyne for what is sure to be a very stern test against one of the strongest team in the division if the Under 12 results were anything to go by. Throw in is at 7 O' clock, bus leaves the complex at 5.45 via St Michael's school car par at 6.00, and should return to these assembly points around 9 - 9.15 approx. Coaching for the under 8/10's continues on Saturday morning at 10.00 everyone eligible are asked to attend. Plans are in place to hold the Elco Oils demonstration games and presentations on Sunday 9th September at 2.00pm approx. immediately after the Seans V Cremartin Intermediate league game at 12.30 Totto - There was no winner of the jackpot prize on offer last week; the numbers 7,1,5,4,3,6,2, drawn were not correctly forecast. The €40 prizewinner was Oliver Mc Guigan Mullinahinch, The €20 winners were Stephen Crotty Monaghan, Marie Mc Entee Drumguill, Patrick Mc Carron / Michael Mc Mahon Card Players, Lorna Duffy Cabra, Eileen & Sonia Newbliss, Jackpot next week is €1,400. Replica Jerseys - Club Treasurer Mary Mc Connon has taken delivery of a consignment of Club replica jerseys. From sports specialists O' Neill the jerseys come in an array of children's sizes from 5-6 right up to small medium or large in adult size. Anyone interested in getting their hand on one of these must have item should contact Mary on 057-57331 any evening after 7.00pm. Foróige Club Formation - This item appeared in the club newsletter back in April, an it's opportune to again remind adults of its content and request those with a few hours "free"to get involved an insure the project gets off the ground. Contact Enda Murphy or any committee member to have your name included…. The youth committee is examining the possibility of registering a new Foróige club under the Sean Mac Diarmada banner. This is in response to requests made by teenagers in the community. The committee are well disposed, in fact are very much in favour, as they see such a development complimenting our existing sporting activities with this age group especially during the autumn and winter months when games and outdoor pursuits tend to wan. Whether this new club get of the ground or not will very much depend on the availability and commitment of capable and competent supervisors and club leaders. The current crop of club volunteers and coaches cannot be expected to take on this additional workload, but many no doubt will feel duty bound to help out. What we will be doing is casting the net beyond our club community into the wider arena in the search for volunteers. Are you interested? Can you make time? Commit to one night a month? If the answer is yes, then get in touch with Enda Murphy at 087-7840460. Interested volunteers should note; to comply with child protection policy and legislation all names submitted will be forwarded to the relevant authorities for scrutiny and approval, but don't let this piece put you off its standard procedure for everyone's protection and benefit. Will kept you posted on developments and hopefully see you on "active service duty" around September. Seans Notes 23/8/2007 Coaching Sessions - As arranged with coaches. Senior teams - Our senior squad progressed to the next round of the intermediate championship on Saturday last at Clontibret when they overcame Emyvale on a scoreline of Seans 0 -15 Emyvale 0 - 9. (See match report) This victory was fashioned thanks to the unerring accuracy of Damien Larkin, landing a personal tally of eleven points over the hour. But this was no one man show, Mark Mc Entee at midfield insured Emyvale were always on the back foot and were made to struggle against the incessant Seans pressure as well as the strong breeze in the opening half. Michael Mc Guinness was a very steadying influence from his pivotal defensive position at centre half back, while Martin Kieran in the full back line was often the man in the breech when Emyvale did find a way through. Goalkeeper Darren Mc Ardle certainly save the blushes of his teammates with one tremendous save and his long deliveries and clever clearances added to the confidence and stability of the defence. Up front James Treanor was always a threat and he managed to loose his Emyvale shadow on a couple of occasions to land crucial points especially in the second half. For sheer work rate wee Patrick Kieran led by example; always willing to run at Emyvale, back in defence to help out his over worked colleagues, fielding superbly to set up the elusive Larkin, and chipping in with a couple of points from play his performance epitomised the workmanlike effort of the whole team on this occasion. A performance that will have given our supporters renewed hope and expectations as we move into a hectic period of important games. This week the squad has home (Wednesday see results elsewhere) and away (Sunday 12.30pm) games against Rockcorry in the Harte Peat Intermediate league, and on Saturday 1st September they play Corduff in round three of the intermediate championship a double header at the Ballybay. Our "B" team bowed out of the O'Duffy Cup reserve championship race on Wednesday evening last, beaten by Clontibret. Although only two points separated the sides at the finish it was a lack lustre first half performance that was our lads undoing. Had they played with the same degree of urgency as in the second half things might have been different, and although ending up on the wrong side of the result the squad have to be compliment for progressing to this stage of the competition. As mentioned previously in this column even though competitive football for the B and C squads is finished for this term, its important that al panellist continue to attend the weekly adult training sessions. Juvenile Roundup - By virtue of their defeat at the hand of Cremartin 2 -7 to 0 - 6 our minor squad traveled to St Mellan's Park Truagh on Wednesday evening last for a make or break Boyle and Curran championship game with the locals, it's a case of must win for both teams if the are to keep their championship involvement alive, check result column for outcome. Our Under 13 squad rebounded after their opening defeat by Latton to score a comfortable victory over Clones on Saturday morning last, although the scoreline is somewhat flattering this was a much improved performance. Sean Freeman was sound and secure in goal and he got good cover from Enda Connolly and Conor Kearns in the full back line. Half backs Dillon Keenan Conor Mc Elroy and Pierce Murphy were the launching pads for many of our attacks. Midfielders Colin Mc Elvaney and James Mc Aleer insured the forward division got a good supply of quality ball. Up front Niall Kearans James Connolly and Kevin Mc Mahon were the chief scorers and they got good support from Conor Freeman Carl Moffet Daragh Bell, Cain Treanor and Shane Farrell. Next week's game against neighbours Emmett Sarsfields has been changed from Saturday to Friday evening at 7 o clock at TMH, parental and family support is encouraged and most welcome. Our under 10 squad had a very enjoyable day out at the Gaeil Triúcha blitz on Saturday last and although they didn't make it to the knock out stages they had three exciting games. All youngsters who travelled getting in on the action, which was what this exercise was about. Coaching continues on Saturday mornings at 10 o clock. Totto - There was no winner of the jackpot prize on offer last week; the numbers 5,1,2,7,4,3,6 drawn were not correctly forecast. The €40 prizewinner was Hanna & Eve Murphy C/o P.J. Togan, and €20 winners were Marie Mc Nee 77 Bree Castleblaney, Brendan Ward Gortnana, Jenny Lennon Latton, Seamus Mc Caffrey Threemilehouse, and Frank Burke Scotshouse Jackpot next week is €1,300. Sympathy - Sincerest sympathy is extended to Sarah and the Mc Grory family circle on the death of Padge Mc Grory St Patricks Tce Monaghan, and also to Michael Burns on the death of his father Jack. Go ndeana Dia trocaire ar a ainmeacha. Seans Notes 16/08/2007 Coaching Sessions - As arranged with coaches. Senior teams - Our senior squad make the journey to Clontibret on Saturday evening next for their Mc Guigan Builders Intermediate Championship clash with Emyvale. Throw in time is 7.00pm. This " back door" encounter is a must win for both teams as each try and preserve their interest in this year's championship. Much will depend on our lad's success in curbing the aerial prowess of Brendan Mc Kenna around the middle of the field and securing enough possession for our forward division. Our boys did over came Emyvale in a star game when the side met in the league earlier in the year but that result will have little bearing on the outcome of Saturdays match, much more will depend on how well they are focus for the task in hand. Much to the annoyance of their supporters they have tended to blow hot and cold in their league campaign but over the last few weeks they have been preparing well under the watchful eye of Tom Mc Geehan and everyone involved will be hoping that they are on fire for this the most important fixture they have to date. Despite the frustrations, our big band of supporters will be out in force to cheer them on in Clontibret, we wish them well in their quest for a place in the next round. On Wednesday 22nd August they entertain Rockcorry at TMH in the Harte Peat Intermediate League throw in for this one is 7 o' clock please note the early starting time. Check results column to see if out B side made it to the last four of the O'Duffy Cup reserve championship. To do that they would have had to cause a bit of an upset by eliminating one of the stronger team in the competition, Clontibret, in their quarter final clash earlier this week, but where these boys are concerned anything is possible. Juvenile Roundup - Training for the minor squad continues as usual. Next week on Tuesday night they take on either Scotstown or Truagh in the Boyle & Curran Minor Championship, who they play will have been determined by the outcome of their rescheduled game with Cremartin on Tuesday night last. The winners play Scotstown, the loser play Truagh, neither and easy option. Check fixture column for opposition, venue and starting time Our Under 13 side got of to the worst possible start on Saturday last in their campaign in the thirteen a side Division 2 competition. Played during a downpour, visitors Latton made light of the weather and underfoot conditions to handout a footballing lesson and a real drubbing to our lads. They will be hoping to redeem themselves with a much improved performance on Saturday next when they travel to Clones for a 4.00 pm throw in. Bus for this game leaves the complex at 3.o' clock and coaching for the squad continues this evening Thursday at 6.30pm Totto - There was no winner of the jackpot prize on offer last week; the numbers 5,7,1,6,3,2,4 drawn were not correctly forecast. The €40 prizewinner was Aaron Treanor Clara, and €20 winners were Frank Mc Connon Sleiveroe Corcaghan, Eileen Beagan Clones, Cormac Connolly Carnbane, Fabiola Martin Newbliss, and Jimmy Treanor Carrickroe Jackpot next week is €1,200. Croke Park Performance. All Monaghan followers experienced first hand the harsh realities of sport and the heartbreak that is often Gaelic Football on Sunday last in Croke Park. The team playing their usual high intensity passionate brand of football that has ignited this years championship, excited the supporters, and brought Monaghan from rank outsiders to serious contenders were thwarted in the most cruel of ways. The team, panel, and management committee are obviously devastated by this defeat and the manner it came about, their gallant effort deserved a better outcome. For the effort, the personal sacrifices of the players, the dedication to cause by all, and the tremendous amount of pleasure, enjoyment and pride you have given us the supporters in 2007 let me say; THANK YOU. Safety alert - Work is schedule to commence this week on the construction of a retaining wall on the embankment side of the playing pitch. For the duration of this work (two weeks approx.) all club and visiting supporters are asked not to congregate on that side of the field and to keep out and away from potential hazards in this area. In the interest of everyone's safety please adhere to this request. Seans Notes 09/08/2007 Coaching Sessions - As arranged with coaches. Senior teams - Our reserve B side play Clontibret in their O Duffy Cup quarter final championship clash in Clontibret on Wednesday evening next at.7.00pm, all members of the panel are asked to note the earlier than usual evening starting time for this game. The exodus from Monaghan to Croke Park on Sunday next means all games have been deferred, there will be no time for our senior squad to shake of the cobwebs of the recent holiday break when the take on Emyvale in the Intermediate Championship on Saturday 18th August. This game part of a double bill at Clontibet has a 7.00pm throw in Hopefully there will be full attendance at training sessions between now and then in preparation for their test, which is sure to be a stern one. Juvenile Roundup - Training for the minor squad continues as usual, their championship clash with Cremartin goes ahead on Tuesday 14th August in Cremartin at 7.00pm extra time will be played in the event of a draw. The winners are scheduled to play Scotstown while the loser play Truagh these game are down for decision on 21st August. The Under 13 squad commence their campaign on Saturday next when they have home advantage for the visit of Latton to TMH for a 4 o' clock throw in. This outfit have their regular coaching session on Tuesday evenings at 6.30pm all youngsters eligible to participate in this age group are invited to come along Our Elco oils participants had two very enjoyable games in the under 8 and 10 age groups with Eire Óg youngster's last week, there was great enthusiasm and a high skill level displayed by all involved which no doubt please the many parents who turned up to lend their encouragement. Due to the adverse weather conditions on Sunday the annual exhibition games and presentations to the Elco oils coaching and games participants had to be deferred until a later date. Watch this column for the rescheduled details. Coaching continues this evening Thursday at 6.30pm and at the regular time of 10am on Saturday mornings. A reminder to some of the "older" lads who may think they have out grown this programme if you are ten this year born in 1997 you are still eligible to participate and the coaches want to see you there Totto - There was no winner of the jackpot prize on offer last week, as the numbers 7,5,2,4,6,3,1 drawn were not correctly forecast. The €40 prizewinner was Eileen & Martin Mc Mahon Killydonnelly and €20 winners were Frank Mc Phillips Corcaghan, Eibhlin Stuart Drumguill, Aaron Treanor Clara Emyvale, Sean & Imelda Murphy Nahill, O Smyth Newbliss, The Grant's Threemilehouse, John Mc Guinness C/o 6 Cabra Sinead Prunty Threemilehouse, Frank Thornton Cabra John Mc Elvaney Threemilehouse, Jackpot next week is €1,100. Ticket to Croke Park - Anyone who has order tickets for Monaghan's big game with Kerry on Sunday are asked to collect their allocation from secretary Sean Mc Elvaney tomorrow Friday Sean will be holding court in the complex from 9.o clock onwards and our social centre will be open just in case a queue develops, as my understanding is there is a big contingent of club followers making this journey. We of course wish the county team and everyone involved all the best in this clash with the Kingdom and are looking forward with an air of confidence to another outing to headquarters in two weeks time. Sports & Festival Weekend - Unfortunately the weather was most unkind over the weekend resulting in the sports day being cancelled. None the less there was plenty of activity. On Friday night Paul Kelly and his scholarly team mates Eamonn Mc Quillan Nigel Lynch and Kieran Murphy shaded things in a very keenly contested table quiz just four point separating the first half dozen teams home. The under 16 section was won by Brian Mc Quaid Adrian Prunty Shane Larkin and Shane Hagan. The Mc Caffrey family from Annabrack were the winners in a very big field of cars taking part in the treasure hunt, Seamus and his crew had to forego a time check before being declared the winners. It was like Ballybritt on Sunday night, the bookies for the most part the winners, few punters claiming any great windfalls with the exception of the big lad from Donegal, who owned and had an undisclosed packet on the winner in the Auction stakes. With all the rain the river was in flood mode for the duck races, fish were caught, bagged and carried with pride by new young owners. There is absolutely no truth in the rumour that a few participants in the novelty football match have taken to the bed after their exertions. Brian O' Neill gave his opposite number the youthful Fergal Mc Quillan a torrid time, Fergal's superior fitness telling in the end. O Neill hit a scorcher of a goal and although always in the thick of the action he still had time to call the shots, well verbally at least! Secretary Sean Mc Elvaney showed his predatory nature in front of goal bagging a goal and a couple of points despite being ear marked for a man marking job by Enda Murphy. Other to catch the eye were Colm Mc Mahon Shane Grant, Tony Mc Guinness, Stephen and Paul Hagan, Benny and Cyril Kieran, and the star of the under 14 squad Shane Larkin who teamed up for the first time in a competitive Seans game with his two older brothers Adrian (good to see him back in harness) and Damien. This was a sporting game despite the best efforts of the referee, not only does he need to read up on the interpretation of the playing rules but a fitness programme and a visit to a good optician would not go astray either. Other winners over the week end were Damien Larkin who won the two ticket to the Kerry V Monaghan game, A special word of appreciation to Kathleen Greenwood, and the Shopping Centre sales team of Dara Freeman, Padraic Mc Guirk, Conor Mc Elvaney, Rory Lyden, Shane Larkin, Adrian Prunty David Mc Entee, Seamus Conaty, Leanne Connolly Dervla Clerkin, and Shane Hagan. Stephen Kelly Killnaclay was the winner of the digital camera. Thanks - To all who organised or assisted with the various events over the weekend and to everyone who supported them your support is very much appreciated. Seans Notes 02/08/2007 Coaching Sessions - As arranged with coaches. Senior teams - No activity on the adult footballing scene for the next two weeks, immediately after the holiday break though our reserve B side play Clontibret in their deferred O Duffy Cup quarter final championship clash at Clontibret, see fixture guide for date and time. Our under 21 squad completed their programme of games in the Division 2 competition when they travelled to Magheracloone earlier this week, having already suffered defeats at the hands of Clones and Inniskeen in their opening games unfortunately they will have no further interest in the competition after Monday night's excursion. In the Fr Hackett Cup intermediate league Truagh are the next expected visitors to TMH Juvenile Roundup - Training for the minor squad continues as usual, and all members are asked to attend. After the holiday break they have a tough assignment when they renew rivalry with Cremartin in the championship and will be hoping for a better outcome than their two previous league meetings but regardless of the result they are guarantee at least one more game in this competition. Coaching for our under 13 squad continues on Sunday evening's at 5.30 and on Tuesday's at 6.30, with games scheduled to commence on Saturday 11th August it's important that everyone eligible attend these sessions. This is a big week for the clubs under 8/10 participants next Sunday at the August Bank Holiday Festival they display their skills and ability in two exhibitions games. Everyone lining out for these games will receive a momento in recognition of their participation in the clubs 2007 Elco OilsU8/10 coaching programme. It important that all these future stars are present on Sunday around 4pm. They should also note they have a game in both age groups this evening (Thurs) in Smithboro at 7.00pm bus departs the complex at 6.15 sharp. Thanks to Joe and the Eire Óg club for the invitation. Sympathy - The whole club community was shocked last week to learn of the sudden death of baby Aaron Hagan. To his grieving parents Stephen and Louise little brothers Josh and Damon and the wider family circle we offer our sincerest and heart felt sympathy, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Totto - Peter Cunningham Taplagh Castleblaney scooped the jackpot prize of €4300 when he correctly forecast he sequence of numbers 5,6,7,4,1,3,2 drawn last weekend. Congratulations to Peter. The €40 prizewinner was Michael Mc Elvaney Mullinavanóg, and €20 went to Ailish & Larry Threemilehouse, M Breakey Threemilehouse, Billy Phair Newtownbutler, Mark Mc Elroy Annamartin, and Seamus Mc Cabe Killydonnolly. Jackpot next week is €1,000. Ticket to Croke Park - Anyone requiring tickets for Monaghan's All-Ireland quarter final game with Kerry on Sunday 12th August must have their application with our club Secretary Sean Mc Elvaney on or before Saturday night (4th) at 11.00pm. Sean can be contacted after 6.00pm on 047-57966 or 087-9291612 by text or email at secretary@sean mcdermotts.net. Supporters please note family tickets are also available for this game, applications received after the Saturday night's deadline cannot be processed. Specified ticket numbers once ordered are the responsibility of the requestor, its unfair to expect Sean to dispose of surplus tickets or the club to cover their cost so please be accurate when submitting requests. Sports & Festival Weekend - The annual August bank holiday Sports and Festival week-end kicks off on Friday night with a table quiz in the club's Social Centre The question setter no doubt can be relied upon to have his usual mind boggling picture and music rounds included, a local charity will benefit from the proceeds. The question master will be at the mike around 9.30pm don't be late. The first car departs the complex at 6.00pm on Saturday evening in their quest for clues in the treasure hunt, this exercise is for all the family and usually lasts no more than a couple of hours depending on your ability to decipher the verse and find the clue. Sports day Sunday has all the usually activities sideshows galore, athletic, Elco oils U8/10 Gaelic football, finishing off with a race night for the adults in the lounge commencing later in the evening. The ducks on the river are not to be missed on Monday and with on site betting available there is an added opportunity to make a few bob. Spot prizes a plenty are on offer at the £ingo session at 9.00 in the main hall. Definitely a weekend to be out and about in TMH. Seans Notes 26/7/07 Results & Fixture - Check official Results and Fixture Column Coaching Sessions - As arranged with coaches. Senior teams - Our intermediate squad gain two more valuable league points on Sunday evening last when the outscored visitors Aghabog by 3 – 9 to 1 – 8. A brace of goals one each from Damien Larkin and Patrick Kieran (Jnr) in the opening ten minutes was the launching pad for this victory. This was a much closer game than the final scoreline suggests, the visitors closing the gap to two points at the interval thanks mainly to the accuracy of veteran Declan Smith who notched up 1 - 4 of his team’s total, It took a James Treanor goal in the closing minutes to but the result beyond doubt As well as the goal scorers we had good performers in Emylin Clerkin, Michael Mc Guinness, Fintan Mc Kenna, Gary Mc Entee, Christopher Connolly, and Patrick Kieran (sen). Training continues as usual with the next outing after the holiday break. The B squad had an O’ Duffy Cup quarterfinal championship fixture with Clontibret on Wednesday evening last (see result elsewhere) how that ended will very much determine if they have any more football to look forward to this season. Our Under 21 squad were comprehensively beaten by Clones on Thursday night last, our lads never matched the cohesion or intensity of the visitors on this occasion. They will be hoping for better things this week when travelling to Donaghmoyne to take on Inniskeen and on Monday 30th when they make the long journey to Magheracloone for a joust with the Mitchell’s boys. Juvenile Roundup - For all of fifty-five minute our minor squad in the semi-final of the Div. 2-league competition had hot favourites Cremartin on the ropes. A line ball which should have went our lads way was overturned by the man in the middle and awarded to the home side, Cremartin took full advantage of the gift ramming the ball to the net to give them the lead for the first time in the match, this score knocked the heart out of our lads who had been working tirelessly to defend their two goal opening salvo from the first half. Chief among those defender were Paraic Mc Guirk who was as solid as the proverbial rock especially in the second half, he got good support from John Kearns, Seamus Conaty, Christopher Hughes, Darren Keely, David Mc Entee and place kicker Wayne Connolly. This week they do it all over again same time, venue, and opposition in the minor championship, they will be hoping if they get their noses in front this time round to hold out for the sixty minutes. Win or loose they are guaranteed another outing in this competition. Most of our Under 13 squad after the exertions of their U14 Mc Hugh Cup success must be taking a holiday judging by the attendance at their opening session on Sunday evening last. We hope to see the full panel at next Sunday’s 5.30 session with the competition due to commence on Sat 11th August it’s important that everyone eligible attend There will also be a Tuesday evening get together at 6,30pm Festival Week-end - Just to remind everyone the annual festival will soon be upon us, there is a full programme of events in the pipeline from Fri 3rd to Mon 6th August an occasion not to be missed. Totto - No one correctly forecast the sequence of numbers 4,7,3,5,2,1,6 drawn last weekend. The €40 prize went to Oliver MC Guigan Mullinahinch, and the €20 prizes were won by Eamonn Prunty Cabra, Mary Mc Phillips Scotshouse, Patsy Mc Carron/Mickey Mc Mahon, Francie Murphy Carnbane, and Mary Rutledge O’ Duffy Tce Ballybay. Jackpot next week is €4,300. Good Luck - No doubt a big contingent of club followers will be in Omagh to see Monaghan get over the Donegal hurdle and book a quarterfinal place for themselves. We wish Seamus and everyone involved with the squad the very best of luck on Saturday. Throw in time is 7 o’ clock Seans Notes 19/7/07 Results & Fixture Check official Results and Fixture Column Coaching Sessions - As arranged with coaches. Senior teams - Our first team play Aghabog at TMH on Sunday evening next at 7.00pm,victory in this one would help move us away from the relegation zone, but that is easier said than done against our near neighbours who will also be in determined mood to maintain there intermediate status and avoid the dreaded drop. No one is in any doubt, only a wholehearted team performance will be good enough if two more league points are to be added to our tally on Sunday evening. The B squad although going under to Scotstown in the final game in their section of the O Duffy Cup reserve championship on a score line of Scotstown 2 - 6 Seans 0 - 9 booked a place in the knock out stage… the quarter final of this competition. These games are scheduled for Wed. 25th July. See fixture guide for opponents, venue, and time Our C panel's footballing season came to and end at Toome on Saturday night when the exited the Crawley Cup competition, beaten by the locals by four points. Inability to convert gilt edged chances in front of goal, costing them dearly in the end. Although the C competition is over it important that the members of this panel continue to attend the regular weekly senior training sessions and keep pressure on the lads on the A and B teams. The Under 21 game with Magheracloone fell victim to the torrential rain experienced in south Monaghan last week, and the game with Clones has been deferred until tonight (Thurs) at 7.45pm all panellists please note and attend on time Juvenile Roundup - Our minor squad needed extra time before they overcame St Enda's in their minor championship clash last week, for almost all of the opening hour the amalgamated Curin/ Eire Óg outfit were playing the better football and looked to be heading comfortably and deservedly into the next round. With only minutes remaining centre half back and team captain Seamus Conaty was our team's saviour when he forced the game to extra with a scorcher of a goal. In extra time our boys played much better and St Enda's forced to play without the influential Mark Mc Bride in this period never really got going Brian Mc Quaid, Wayne Connolly Stephen Hurson and Paraic Mc Guirk were particularly effective. The reward for this success is a meeting with Cremartin at the Cremartin venue on Tuesday 24th July. They had another date with Cremartin, this time in the Division 2 league semi-final on Tuesday night last, having already tasted defeat at the hand of the Shamrocks in their earlier league clash they will be hoping to balance things up against the competition favourites. A performance like last week's championship effort will not do if they are to realise that ambition, hopefully they came improve on that performance and make it to the Division 2 decider See result elsewhere The Under 16 squad have a championship outing against Corduff tomorrow night Friday 20th July at the Corduff venue. They had a thrilling encounter when these sides met in the league but our boy will be hoping for a different outcome this time round. Check fixture column for starting time and also bus departure time with coaches. Coaching for the Under 13 squad commences on Sunday evening at 5.30pm all eligible for this panel are requested to attend this session. Totto - No one correctly forecast the sequence of numbers 3,7,4,6,1,2,5 drawn last weekend. The €40 prize went to Bridie Murphy Blackrawe and the €20 prizes were won by Eileen O' Neill, Cabra, Ailish & Larry Threemilehouse, Orla Dowd Cootehill, Ciaran Murphy Togan, Kay & PJ Togan. Jackpot next week is €4,2000. Well Done - Although they didn't lift the Anglo Celt cup they certainly did the county proud by their exploits in Clones last Sunday. Well done to everyone involved with our county team, that performance was a real shot in the arm to every Monaghan supporter. We look forward with confidence to the clash with Donegal in a couple of weeks time and an extended summer of inter county championship football. Seans Notes 12/7/2007 Results & Fixture - Check official Results and Fixture Column Coaching Sessions - As arranged with coaches. Senior teams - No action for our intermediate squad until Sunday 22nd when they have neighbours Aghabog as visitors to TMH for a 7pm evening throw in. The Under 21 panel travel to Magheracloone on Friday (tomorrow) night for their game deferred from Monday night last, check fixture guide for throw in time, all members please be present. The C panel surprised many of their supporters on Wednesday evening last when they held visitors Toome to a draw after extra time in their Crawley Cup Reserve Championship clash on a scoreline of Seans 1 – 8 Toome 0-11. The replay of this fixture is set for the Toome venue on Saturday evening next at 7.00pm. Who ever progresses from this preliminary round tie will have home advantage against Fergal O’ Hanlons in the first round on Wednesday evening 18th July at 7.30pm. Our boys are well capable of progressing but they will have to be much more clinical in front of goal if they are to dispose of this Toome side and set up a meeting with O’ Hanlons. Our B squad completed their round robin series of game in the O’Duffy Cup reserve championship against Scotstown last night (Wed) having already accounted for Donaghmoyne and Monaghan Harp in this section they look set to progress to the quarter final of this competition regardless of the result against the reserve league winners, these knock game are set for decision on Wednesday 25th July Juvenile Roundup - A good week on the under age front; on Tuesday evening our minor squad booked a place against table toppers Cremartin in the semifinal of the Division 2 league competition when they defeated Truagh on a scoreline of Seans 3 – 6 Truagh 2 –3. A brace of goals from Darragh Freeman and one from David Mc Entee were the foundation planks for this victory, and powerful performances from John Kearns Paraic Mc Guirk and team captain Seamus Conaty insured this squad progressed. This trio got plenty of assistance from goalkeeper Niall Prunty, Donal Mc Entee Rory Lyden and Brian Mc Quaid in defence. The wholehearted work rate of midfielder Wayne Connolly and Christopher Hughes and in the forward line as well as the goal scorers Danny Mc Nally, Darren Keely Murt Cleere and Conal Mc Crudden. Before that visit to Cremartin on Tuesday 17th July they have a date with St Enda’s in the opening round of the minor championship see result elsewhere. On Saturday last the Under 14 squad lifted the club’s first silverware at under age level for some time when they held on in a tense and closely contested Mc Hugh Cup final. Opponents Clones pushed them right to the final whistle with our boys just doing enough to hang on and lift the trophy on a scoreline of Seans 1 – 8 Clones 1 – 6.We had many star performers a very good team display, individually working extremely hard to insure collective success, but few will quibble I hope if I single out Stephen Mc Carron, his second have performance deservesr special mention …man of the match. I think. The full squad was Enda Mc Quillan, Stephen Mc Carron, Conor Mc Elroy, Conor Kearns, Adrian Prunty, Dwayne Mc Caffrey, Shane Larkin (1- 1), Jamie Mc Elvaney (0 -3), Mathew Mc Cabe, James Mc Aleer, James Connolly (0 - 4), Shane Hagan (Capt), Colin Mc Elvaney, Pearse Murphy, Sean Freeman, Conor Freeman, Kaine Treanor, Conor Mc Cormick. See associated match report and team photo. Well done to the panel and everyone involved with coaching and looking after them. Summer camps - Final reminder the VHI sponsored Cúl camp begins on Monday next at TMH, all national school going children are invited and encouraged to attend, but don’t forget your rain gear. Totto - No one correctly forecast the sequence of numbers 7,2,4,5,1,6,3, drawn last weekend. The €40 prize went to Paraic Coyle Rooskey, and the €20 prizes were won by Seamus & Martina Murphy Corcaghan, Larry & Ailish Threemilehouse, Phylis Mc Guigan Mullinahinch, Martina Ellis Belturbet, and Mark Mohan Kilmore East Jackpot next week is €4,100. Good Luck - We wish the county panel and the management team good luck and success in their quest for the Ulster crown on Sunday next and remind club members who intend being in Clones on Sunday not to leave it to the last minute to collect pre booked tickets As per notices displayed locally club Secretary Sean Mc Elvaney was distributing the allocation of ordered ticket last night Wednesday in the complex. Have you got yours? If not then contact Gerry Lynch immediately. Seans Notes 5/7/2007 Results & Fixture Check official Results and Fixture Column Coaching Sessions - As arranged with coaches. Senior teams - Our senior team pilfered two league points at Drumhowan on Sunday last thanks to a late winner from man of the match Gary Mc Entee. The home side were quickly into their stride and the six points advantage they enjoyed at the interval1 - 7 to 0 - 4 was no more than they deserved, our boys meagre tally of four points reflecting accurately their first half performance. They played with a lot more purpose and sparkle in the second half Mc Entee and Christopher Connolly getting through a tremendous amount of work in the middle of the field. Forwards Damien Larkin, Patrick Kieran (wee), James Treanor, Nigel Mc Quillan Stephen Mc Elvaney and Kieran Murphy were much more elusive and for the first time in the game began to create plenty of good scoring chances, something they had failed to do in the opening half. In defence Emylin Clerkin, Noel Rice, Martin Kieran, Fintan Mc Kenna, Nigel Lynch and Michael Mc Guinness were also a better cohesive and effective barrier. Patrick Kieran early in the half was on the end of two of those created chances and he raised green flags in a three minute purple patch which saw the half time deficit not only erased but our lad pushed into a two point lead. Both teams fought for supremacy in this scrappy affair and squandered chances in the closing minutes as the result seemed to be heading for stalemate, before Gary Mc Entee popped up with his shooting boots on to give great relief to our supporter and two very valuable league point to his team on a final scoreline of Drumhowan 1- 12 Seans 2 - 10. While this performance was nothing to get excited about it was the result that mattered, inching us further away from the dreaded regulation zone. With no games scheduled until after the Ulster Final, hopefully all members of the squad will take the opportunity and make the necessary effort to attend their regular training sessions, that’s the only way performances and results can be improve. On Sunday evening next at 7.00pm our reserve B team have their second game in section C of the O'Duffy Cup Championship when they have home advantage against Monaghan Harps.Last week in the opening game of this series they accounted for Donaghmoyne, and will be anxious to continue in that winning vein against the town side, this I suspect will be a sterner test than their opener, but the stiffest is yet to come when on Wednesday 11th July the complete their programme in Scotstown against the recently crowned reserved league winners, throw in for that one is 7.45pm. The Under 21 panel travel to Magheracloone on Monday night next 9th for their joust with the Mitchell's starting time is 7.45pm Juvenile Roundup - Can I invite and encourage as much support as possible to travel to Aghabog on Saturday next for 4 O' clock. Our Under 14 squad take on Clones in the final of the U14 Division 2 competition, these lads have done themselves and the club proud to get to this stage of the competition. On the way they have produced some great performances none better than in the semi-final when they just piped Killanny. Clones are a good all round side too and will be in confident mood having knocked out competition favourites Ballybay to book their place in the final. A close encounter is expected, our boys know they will have to be at their very best if the are to take the trophy down the road with them. Win loose or draw I expect a big contingent of club followers to be there to give these youngsters the support they deserve. The minor team play St Enda's on Tuesday 10th July at 7.30pm in TMH in the opening round of the minor championship, this will be a serious test of their character at they try to come to terms with Division 1 opposition. Check results elsewhere to see how they fared in their own Division 2 league against Truagh this week, who ever won that one are guaranteed at least one more game having qualified for the knock out stages of the competition. The Under 16 squad have a championship outing against either Emmett/Sarsfields or Corduff to look forward to on Friday 20th July plus their game with Magheracloone in the league which failed to materialise last week if and when it is refixed. How they get on in these two games will very much determine how much more football this age group plays. To that end, everyone, i.e. the whole squad are requested to attend their weekly coaching sessions Summer camps - Another reminder of summer camp activity; the second week of Paul Murphy's Camp Active begins on Monday 9th July. The county wide VHI sponsored Cúl Camp is schedule to hit TMH on Monday 16th July, Club chairman Danny Clerkin will be delighted to accept details from prospective participants If you are between the ages of 5 - 13 years these camp activities are not to be missed Totto - No one correctly forecast the sequence of numbers 7,4,1,3,5,6,2 drawn last weekend. The €40 prize went to Paul Hagan Ballagh and the €20 prizes were won by Sue Mc Eniff Annamartin, Olivia Mc Connon Killnaclay, Gregory Mc Mahon Killydonnelly, Larry & Ailish, Threemilehouse, Peter Walsh. Jackpot next week is €4,000. Ladies Club - Coaching for the girls under 14 and U16 panels continues as usual this evening (Thurs) from 7.45 to 9.00, with another get together at the same time on Sunday. It’s most important that all eligible attend these joint sessions. Seans Notes 28/6/2007 Results & Fixture - Check official Results and Fixture Column Coaching Sessions - As arranged with coaches. Senior teams - Our Senior squad travel to Drumhowan on Sunday next for a 2.00pm throw in, a win here is a must if we are to escape the threat of slipping into the regulation zone. Never an easy to place to get points, this will be a particularly difficult assignment with Drumhowan in a somewhat similar league position as ourselves they too will be anxious to move away from the drop zone. Hopefully all players will be in the right frame of mind for this one. On Monday night, under 21 action gets under way for our lads when they have home advantage against Donaghmoyne. Throw in is at 7.30pm. Fresh from guiding his under 14 charges to the final of that competition, Stephen Hagan, and Niall Mc Guirk have been appointed to chart hopefully a similar course for the under 21 class of 2007.With only four games in this Division and the top two teams qualifying for the final there is little room for error. To that end everyone eligible for this age group are invited to a training session tonight (Thurs) at 8.00pm, and also requested to be in the dressing room by seven o clock for Monday night's opening game. On Wednesday evening again at 7.30pm and at TMH also, Toome make a return visit for the Crawley Cup Reserve Championship clash with our "C" team. When these side met last week our lads were comprehensively beaten, this time round they will be hoping to get a bit closer, if not cause an upset, something they are well capable of doing if they play to their true potential. All members of the squad are asked to attend. Juvenile Roundup - All members of our under 14 panel should note dates and times of coaching sessions in preparation of their final show down with Clones schedule for 7th July. It's most important that everyone attend these sessions. The Under 16 squad had a w/o. over Emmett/Sarsfields in their fixture last week, on Friday (tomorrow) they travel to Magheracloone, this will be their final game in this division unless they can come away with a victory, even then they will be very much dependant on other results if they are to scrape into a semi final slot. Round one of the under 16 championship is scheduled for Friday 6th July. Our minor side have probably their most important match of the year on Tuesday night next when they take on Truagh at TMH, whoever takes the points from this one will have booked a semi-final place for themselves. How well they have come through the exam period inactivity will no doubt have been well and truly determined by their display against table toppers Cremartin last week. See results elsewhere. The Under 12 panel completed their programme of games on Saturday last when they went down to visitors Carrickmacross. Another spirited performance by these youngsters and despite a much greater amount of possession than in the opening period and playing much of the second half in the Carrick end of the field they just couldn't breech a strong Emmett's defence to get the scores on the board. Carrick were deserving winners but with most of our lads eligible again next year and with the experience gained in this amalgamated Division one and two competition we can look forward with some optimism to 2008. Before that though for the older members of this panel there is the under 13 competition, schedule to commence in early August. Presentation - The under 12 panel received a lovely surprise on Saturday last thanks to the generosity of Horticultural Solutions guru Paul Kelly. The green fingered Paul presented the panel and their mentors with tee shirts. Bearing the club crest and the HS logo these tee shirts will no doubt be worn with pride by this big panel of youngsters. Under 12 mentor Noel Rice thanking Paul for his generous presentation said it was very much appreciated by everyone involved. See presentation photograph. Go Games - On Saturday morning last our Under 8/10's Elco Oils coaching and games participants experience Go Games at first hand. Some forty youngsters were put through their paces by coaches Colin Malone and Declan Crowe, all the boys and girls relishing the new game format, showing off their skills and ability to great effect. Well done to parents who insured we had almost a full attendance at this early morning session and a special word of thanks to Colin and Declan whose excellent delivery of the Go games content and philosophy to children and coaches was very much appreciated. Summer camps - Final reminder for participation in the VHI sponsored Cúl Camp, which takes place at club headquarters on Monday 16th July. Completed application forms should be returned to Paul Curran Clontibret as a matter of urgency. Two weeks of Camp Active commences on Monday 2nd July and continues on 9th. For youngsters between 5 -13 years this promises to be three weeks of sporting and games heaven. Don't miss them. Totto - No one correctly forecast the sequence of numbers 4,6.7,1,2,3,5 drawn last weekend. The €40 prize went to Fintan Mc Gorman, Drumate, Newbliss and the €20 prizes were won by Bridie Mc Connon Gortmore, Sarah & Lynda Mc Grory Monaghan, Rosie Connolly Carrickroe, Mags Creighan Roslea, James Mc Cabe Tattenclave. U16 games are scheduled to commence very shortly it’s most important therefore that there is a full attendance at these sessions Seans Notes 21/6/2007 Results & Fixture - Check official Results and Fixture Column Coaching Sessions - As arranged with coaches. Senior teams - Our senior squad put in a disappointing performance on Saturday evening last at TMH when Corduff thanks to an early goal held on to claim the two league points. (See match report). The team will want to forget and put this lack lustre effort behind them, for rarely was the passion which was so evident in their last outing against Emyvale displayed in this game. Only Martin Kieran, Mark Mc Entee, and young Patrick Kieran showing the necessary urgency and application required to gain valuable league points and hoist the team out of the regulation zone, hopefully normal service from all will be restored for their next outing away to Drumhowan on Sunday 1st July. Our "c" squad made the long journey to Killanny and came away with a victory. Good to see all involved in this squad making this journey, giving manager David Treanor plenty to think about as he deliberated on his starting fifteen. This week David will be happy to have a similar headache when Toome provide the opposition. This game will be a dress rehearsal for their preliminary round (Reserve Championship) Crawley Cup clash on Wednesday 4th July also at TMH. Our “B” squad have the first of their three reserve championship (O’ Duffy Cup) outings on Wednesday night next 27th June when Donaghamoyne are visitors to club headquarters, throw in for this one is 7.30pm, all panellist are asked to note time and date of this fixture. The other two teams operating in this section are Monaghan Harps and Scotstown. Our boys play at the Scotstown venue on Wednesday 11th July. Under 21 - To compound the heavy fixture schedule for this period the Under 21 competition get under way on Monday 25th June, but we have an extra week to prepare with a bye on that date. The squad’s first outing is on Monday 2nd July at TMH at 7.30pm when Corduff provide the opposition. Round 2 see them travel to Magheracloone on 9th July for a 7.45pm start. Minors - All members of this panel are asked to attend a very important meeting tonight (Thurs) in the club rooms at 7.30 pm sharp, this short meeting will be followed by training at 8.00pm.With exams coming to an end this squad can now give their full attention to playing football. They will have to, for they have a couple of very important games coming up. On Tuesday 26th June table toppers Cremartin are visitors to TMH for a 7.45 throw in, and they complete their league programme on Tue 3rd July again at TMH. Truagh are the opposition, and as the league table stands at this stage the winners of this one will almost certainly secure fourth position and a coveted semi-final place. Tuesday 10th July is another important date, the minor championship begins. In round one our lads are pitted against St Enda’s the Currin/ Eire Og combination. Our boys will have to be at their very best if they are to progress to round two of this competition as St Enda’s are bolsters by a couple of county panellists. Juvenile Roundup - Our under 14 team booked a place in the final of the division two competition when they overcame visitors Killanny last week in a titanic struggle that went to extra time before our youngsters emerged victorious on a scoreline of Seans 3 –13 Killanny 1 -16.The bigger Killanny lads dominated for most of the match and it looked as if we had missed the boat until our man of the match Shane Hagan goaled, to gave his team a life line and a one point lead on the stroke of full time, Killanny deservedly levelled forcing the game into extra time. After the first ten minutes of added time the sides were still level. It was only when the diminutive but tigerish Hagan landed a second goal that the tide shifted in our lads favour. This was a great game, the best I have seen at any level in the county this year, both team can be very proud of their performance See full match report on the club’s web site www.seanmcdermotts.net The team on duty was Enda Mc Quillan, Conor Mc Elroy, Stephen Mc Carron, Dwyane Mc Caffrey, Adrian Prunty, Conor Kearns, Jamie Mc Elvaney (0 - 1), Shane Larkin (1 -6), Mathew Mc Cabe, James Mc Aleer James Connolly (0 - 5), Shane Hagan (2 - 1) Colin Mc Elvaney, Pierce Murphy, Conor Mc Cormick The final is scheduled for Saturday 7th July at a venue yet to be confirmed The Under 12 squad suffered a four point defeat on Saturday last at the hands of Donaghamoyne, despite ending up on the wrong side of the result, this was another battling performance from the whole panel. They complete their nine game league programme on Saturday next when the have home advantage for the visit of Carrickmacross, throw in is at the usual time of 4pm The Under 16 panel resume competitive action tomorrow night Friday 23rd June when they take on the Aghabog/Killeevan combination at EmmettSarsfield, check fixture column for venue and starting time. Summer camps - Reminder again to parents and national school going children two summer camps take place at Pairc Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada this year. Paul Murphy’s annual Camp Active gets under way on Monday 2nd July with the second week commencing on 9th July. The VHI sponsored Cúl Camp kick off a week later on Monday 16th July. Crammed with loads of daily activity, attendance at these camps is highly recommended. In an effort to give the organisers some indication of the numbers planning to participate application forms should be returned as soon as possible. As I have stated here previously; parent; if you can seen your way to allowing your child/children attend all three weeks of these activities it will be money well spent, your children will really enjoy themselves. Go games - County Football Development Manager Paul O Connor and his coaches visit the club on Saturday morning next to introduce the go games programme to our regular Saturday morning Elco Oils participants. Commencing at the usual time of 10.00am this is an opportunity not only for the children in this U8/10 coaching programme but also for more coaches and parent to get involved in this initiative. Everyone is invited along to this session, how deep you want to wade in, is entirely down to one self. Suffice to say the club is always on the look out for, and encourages involvement of competent and responsible adults in supervisory and coaching rolls. If you can assist in this department why not come along on Saturday and sample what’s involved. Totto - No one correctly forecast the sequence of numbers 4,5,3,2,7,6,1 drawn last weekend. The €40 prize went to Dessie Smyth Skeagh, The €20 winners were Marie Mc Entee Threemile house, Frank Thornton Cabra, Barbara Lee Tyholland, John Murphy Rawe, Margaret Clarke Annyalla. Jackpot next week is €3800. Irish Kidney Association Collection - Club personnel will assist the Irish Kidney Association in taking up their annual church gate collection in the parish at the weekend. Please give generously to this very worthy cause Seans Notes 14/6/2007 Results & Fixture - Check official Results and Fixture Column Coaching Sessions - As arranged with coaches. Senior teams - Our senior squad plays Corduff on Saturday evening next at TMH, they will be hoping to reverse the result from when the sides meet in the opening game of the year. Since then a number of players are back in club harness and our supporters will be hoping that this will be enough to swing this tie in our favour to gain two additional league points and move them further away from the lower end of the table. Throw in is at 7.30pm. In a keenly contested game with Currin last week our "c" squad shared the point with the visitors on a scoreline of 2- 10 apiece. On Wednesday evening next they play their final league game in the division 4 competition when they have home advantage for Toome visit to TMH, throw in is 7.45pm. Juvenile Roundup - Our under 14 team booked a semi-final spot when they overcame visitors Killanny last week. Both teams renew rivalry in that semi -final which was down for decision on Tuesday evening last at TMH. Killanny are a much bigger side and our lads will have had to be at their very best if they are to progress to the final, check results elsewhere in this issue to see how they got on. Should they make it through, the final is set for Saturday 7th July at a venue yet to be confirmed. The good form our under 12 squad have displayed in recent outings finally yielded league points on Saturday last when they overcame Clontibret. This was a good team performance from Sean Freeman in the goal to full forward twin brother Conor who was his teams top scorer, in between there was a man of the match performance from David Mc Kenna in the half back line. Ryan Mc Guinness at full back and Ryan Mc Entee were not far behind for that acolade. Colin Mc Elvaney (who was on the Monaghan School selection at Newry on Sunday) and midfielders Niall Kearns and Enda Connolly were always in the thick of thing too. The full panel who all played their part in securing their first league victory were Sean Freeman, Jamie Keenan, Ryan Mc Guinness, James Mc Carron, David Mc Kenna, Pierce Murphy, Dillon Keenan, Niall Kierans, Enda Connolly, Shane Farrell, Colin Mc Elvaney, Ryan Mc Entee, Aidan Ward, Conor Freeman, Darragh Bell, Yvonne Ward, Patrick Mc Cabe, Niall Murphy, Ryan Hughes, Cristina Mc Mahon. Next week they travel to Donaghmoyne for the usual starting time of 4.0' clock. Members of the Under 16 and minor panel despite preoccupation with exams at this time are reminder that regular coaching session still continue as usual, all are encouraged to attend. Summer camps - Application forms for enrolment in the VHI sponsored Cúl Camps are now also available through the club as well as via local schools and shops. Children taking part will be issues with Cúl Camp participant packs, which include a County Jersey as well as other sporting items. I note a young lady from Cooldaragh among the group of countywide youngsters who will soon be in receipt of coveted jerseys thanks to their early application, well done Emma. This week long camp kicks off at Pairc Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada on Monday 16th July. Prior to that, Paul Murphy's Camp Active commences on 2nd and continues on 9th July. I would highly recommend participation in one or all of these camps, it's worth mentioning again, the camps are very well supervised and are crammed with loads of activities, a must for all sports mad girls and boys. It's still not late to enrol, but application forms should be completed and returned as soon as possible to the relevant organiser. Parents please do your utmost to allow your child/children take part in this hectic three week long healthy locally based sporting activity, you won't be disappointed you did. Totto - No one correctly forecast the sequence of numbers 4,5,3,2,7,6,1 drawn last weekend. The €40 prize went to Breda Mc Connon Killnaclay and the €20 prizes were won by James Brady Annabrack, Josie Fay London, Robert Steenson Corcaghan, Chloe Mc Quillan Threemilehouse, Mary Coyle Rooskey. Jackpot next week is €3700. Development - In the current phase of development the retaining wall is complete, and we are now ready to proceed with the next part the plan; terracing the pitch side embankment. The announcement recently of a generous allocation of lottery funding to the club might suggest that we are awash with money. Not so. While this allocation was most welcome and will be a great boost to our finances, we still have a way to go to cover projected costs for this year's planned development programme. We rely exclusively on support of our weekly social member's draw; totto, €ingo, and our social centre. These are the core funding agents for ongoing club development, can I earnestly ask you to continue that support, never was it more needed than now, as we will hopefully be embarking shortly on the most expensive piece of the whole jigsaw: a covered stand. I know most people support the totto without ever contemplating winning a prize never mind scooping the jackpot. That main prize is rising nicely, and if your thing is about winning then there never was a better time to submit a sequence of numbers, support the club and greatly improve your bank balance in the process. As well as the single weekly draw subscription of €2 there are numerous multi draws options available, even a standing order option, which will insure your support is continuous and you are entered in all draws. As I said despite the nice lottery windfall continued support of all our fund raising activities is vital if the proposed developments are to be realised. Development overseer Gerry reports that we can expect movement on that terracing front in the coming weeks. Sympathy - The club offers deepest condolences to the Mc Quaid family Annabrack, and the Mc Mahon family Drumacaslan, on the death last week of Maggie Mc Kenna, and Tilly Dolan. Go ndeana Dia trocaire ar a n anamacha Ladies Club - Girls on the under14 and under 16 panels are reminded a coaching session for both panels will be held on Sunday evening next at 7.45pm. A full attendance is requested. Seans Notes 7/6/2007 Results & Fixture - Check official Results and Fixture Column Coaching Sessions - As arranged with coaches. Senior teams - On Saturday evening last our intermediate squad showed battling qualities to hold out against visitors Emyvale to claim the two league points. Playing most of the match with fourteen men, goal scorer Patrick Kieran sent for an early shower after only six minutes of play, their resolve well and truly examined…they passed with honours. In the opening minutes of this star game Emyvale without the services of big midfielder Brendan Mc Kenna had despite Kieran’s early strike forced their way into the lead after successfully converting a penalty and it was no quarter asked or given to the break. The defining moment of the second half was Damien Larkin’s expertly despatched penalty to the Emyvale net to give our lads a little breathing space. Despite Emyvale’s best efforts the just couldn’t recover from this decisive strike and our boys held on for a hard earned but deserved one point victory; final score Seans 2 – 6 Emyvale 1 – 8. As already mentioned this was a gutsy and work man like performance from the whole team and one which hopefully they can build on for the second half of their intermediate league campaign. Next outing is on 16th June when Corduff visit TMH On Wednesday 13th June our “C” team travel to Killanny for a 7.45pm throw in. Juvenile Roundup - Our Under 12 squad were in action twice last week on Thursday evening Monaghan Harps were visitors to club headquarters and in a highly enjoyable and very competitive game the town side shaded the issue at the finish. On Saturday evening they produced another fine performance before going under to a bigger and more robust Emyvale side. These lads are improving with every game and I believe it won’t be long before they get a victory under their belts, but if they don’t, it certainly will not be from lack of effort on their part but more down to the way the competition had to be structured this year. The lesson learned though will stand them in good stead, as most are still eligible for this age group for the next year or two. Our Under 14 squad travelled to Cavan to compete in the féile competition on Saturday last, Redhills was the venue for their group games. Against St Peters Lurgan they never recovered from a very classy wind assisted first half performance from the Armagh side and although they restricted them to two point in the second half they just couldn’t peg back that big interval lead and ended up on the wrong side of a 1 – 11 to 0 – 3 result. They fared much better against the two Cavan sides Redhills and Templeport running out comfortable winners against the locals and beating the west Cavan youngsters by 3 – 12 to 4 – 2. For these lads it was well worth the effort with many good individual performances but for me our player of the tournament was the diminutive Shane “Mini” Hagan, the full panel on duty was Enda Mc Quillan, Sean Freeman, Pierce Murphy, James Mc Carron, Conor Freeman, Conor Mc Cormick, Conor Kearns, Colin Mc Elvaney, Conor Mc Elroy, James Mc Aleer, Dayne Mc Caffrey, Shane Larkin, Jamie Mc Elvaney Mathew Mc Cabe, James Connolly, Shane Hagan, Adrian Prunty. The mentors who travelled Stephen Hagan, Eugene Prunty, Barry Mc Guinness, Eamonn Mc Quillan James Treanor Enda Murphy, and team nurse Aisling Keenan, well done to all. Sympathy - We extend our sincerest sympathy to the Loughman family and the Castleblaney Faughs club on the death of Tony Loughman. Tony was a club benefactor of Sean Mc Dermotts, not only that, but he sourced and provided material for us during the construction of the complex, and masterminded the entertainment content on the official opening night. Was always willing to steer musicians and bands our way, something he did with great regularity in the ‘90, many in the Seans club were privileged to call him; Friend. Go ndeana Dia trocaire ar a ainm. Summer camps - Another reminder to get you application forms returned for the summer camps that take place at Pairc Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada during July. Paul Murphy’s Camp Active commences on 2nd and continues on 9th,while the VHI sponsored Cúl Camp kick off on Monday 16th July. These camps are well supervised and crammed with loads of activities a must for all sports mad girls and boys. Application forms are available through the local shops or national schools. Totto - No one correctly forecast the sequence of numbers 3,6,7,4,5,2,1 drawn last weekend. The €40 prize went to P. Mc Grory Monaghan and €20 went to Conor Mc Elroy Smithboro, Mickey Mc Elvaney Corcaghan. Seamus Mulligan Rooskey, N. Clerkin/P. Keenan card players, Olive Mc Carron Mullaghadun, Shane Grant Cabra, Dervla Mc Caffrey C/o 9 Cabra, Eugene Brannigan Cabra, Rachael Treanor Cooldaragh, Kathleen & P.J. Togan Jackpot next week €3600 Check out the numerous multi draws or standing order option Good luck - Club followers travelling to Newry on Sunday to support Monaghan watch out for Colin Mc Elvaney. A pupil at St Mary’s N.S. Colin plays on the club’s U12 and U14 teams but on Sunday next he will be participating in the Cumman Na mBunscoil Monaghan V Down match, which take place at half time. A very proud day for mom and dad, Felix and Patricia, and the Mc Elvaney clan, well done Colin on your selection, good luck in the game, and have a great day. Best wishes too to Colin’s teacher Master Trappe and the Monaghan team hopefully there will be cause for a double celebration in school on Monday. Under 8 & 10 - Plans are in place for a wee game for both these age groups on Monday evening at 7.00pm it important that all participants in the Elco Oils coaching and games programme attend this session, everyone present will get a game. Seans Notes 31/05/2007 Results & Fixture - Check official Results and Fixture Column’s for last week's results and forth coming fixtures. Coaching Sessions - For the week ahead as arranged with relevant coaches. Senior teams - Our intermediate squad with only minutes remaining thought they had avenged their championship defeat at the hands of Cremartin when the sides met in the league on Sunday last, but a late goal and an injury time point saw the shamrocks come back from the dead to salvage a share of the spoils. Instead it was our lads and supporters who had their hearts in the mouths, as the home side were awarded a potentially match winning free in those added extra minutes. They breathed a sigh of relief when they saw the usually reliable free taker's effort go wide of the target, to give them what may yet prove a very valuable league point. Our star performer was centre half back Michael Mc Guinness; while Patrick Kieran (wee) and Gary Larkin bagged the two goals. Next Sunday they have another early outing at 12.30 when Emyvale visit TMH, but double check the fixture column as there is a possibility that this game may be rescheduled to Saturday evening. The C team have home advantage on Wednesday evening when Currin provide the opposition throw in is 7.45pm Juvenile Roundup - Little activity on the under age front last week with none of our teams in competitive action. The under 12 game deferred from Saturday last against Monaghan Harps will now take place tonight (Thursday) at 7 O' clock at TMH. Next Saturday's game also at home this time with Emyvale as visitors is at time of going to press being rearranged for Monday evening again with a 7.00 starting time. This change is subject to fixture secretary's approval so check with mentors and or fixture column. With the exam period fast approaching our under 16 and minor squads will have no games during this period, but coaching session will be held as usual, its important that the mentors have a full turnout at these sessions. Our under 14 squad head to Cavan on Saturday next to participate in the Ulster Feile competition, registration takes place in Kingspan Breffini Park at 9.o clock with the first games scheduled to get under way around 12.15. Anyone wishing to lend their support to the team should contact Enda Murphy (087-7840460) or Nigel Lynch (086-3690696) for venue details. We wish Stephen and his young charges all the best in this competition. On Tuesday they entertain Killanny when they make the long journey to TMH for a 7.00pm throw in starting time. Summer camps - School holidays, good weather, where better for your son or daughter to spend an enjoyable week or two-- participating in summer camp activity. This year the children of our community are well served in this department, Paul Murphy's annual Camp Active commences on 2nd July with the second week on 9th. Then on the 16th July the VHI sponsored Cul Camp comes to club headquarters, details have been distributed through the schools, and I would highly recommend that where possible parents encourage their children to participate in as many of these camps as possible, see posters outling details or contact your local national school for applications forms. Totto - No one correctly forecast the sequence of numbers 4,3,6,2,5,7,1 drawn last weekend. The €40 prize went to Aidan Mc Mahon Magherarney and €20 went to Ornagh Smith, James Gorman Moys Clontibret, Peter Cunningham Castleblaney, Jade & Chloe Stuart Threemilehouse, Deirdre Murphy Drumbriston. Jackpot next week €3500 Banquet DVD - If you want a copy of this DVD, they are now available from Club Secretary Sean Mc Elvaney. Sean can be contacted on 087-9291612 and they cost €10 well worth the investment. General Election Count - A very big thank you to all club personnel, who assisted at the count on Friday last, everything went off without a hitch. Few will quibble if I give special mention to Mary Keogh and her army of ladies who played the proverbial blinder looking after the catering needs of the multitudes of election worker, political activist, media commentators and anyone and everyone who just happened to drop in. Ladies take a bow. Apologies to all our regular £ingo patrons for the cancellation of last weeks Monday night session, but the good news is were back in action next Monday night, and being a bank holiday, yes, you've guessed it there will be spot prizes galore See you all there Seans Notes 24/05/2007 Results & Fixture - Check official Results and Fixture Column’s for last week's results and forth coming fixtures. Coaching Sessions - For the week ahead as arranged with relevant coaches Senior teams - Our intermediate league game scheduled for Saturday last was postponed due to a bereavement in the Rockcorry club, and with senior championship fixtures scheduled for next week end, this squad have an early outing on Sunday morning when they renew hostilities with Cremartin at 12.30. Coaching continues on Tuesday and Thursday nights, all panellists are asked to make the effort to attend Juvenile Roundup - The U14 game on Thursday evening last gets the review this week; our youngsters played some lovely football to over come a very talented Clones side. But they had to work hard to overcome the visitors who wind assisted led by 0 -11 to Seans 1-5 at the interval. Highlight of that first half was a well-taken goal by Mathew Mc Cabe. A stern half time pep talk had the desired effect, Shane Larkin drew first blood with an early point and a couple of minutes later James Connolly had our boys in front with a sweet left footed drive to the corner of the net. Almost from the kickout Clones had there noses in front again when indecision in our defence allowed them find a way through for a tonic goal which gave keeper Enda Mc Quillan no chance. Another Clones attack was repulsed by the catch of the game, Stephen Mc Carron under serious pressure from several Clones forwards in his own goal mouth outfielded everyone to clear his line with some style. Jamie Mc Elvaney although not having everything his own way in the middle of the field popped up to land two good points before another Clones attack was thwarted by a fine save from Mc Quillen. his directed clearance found the waiting Conor Mc Elroy, he carried and parted to Mathew Mc Cabe who released Shane Larkin to end a field length move with a well taken point. Adrian Prunty, James Connolly, and the beaverish Shane Hagan all added point to give our lad a 2-17 to 1 - 13 victory. Our Under 16 squad have probably more individual talent in their ranks but can't seem to get it together as a team unit like their younger counterparts. Everyone involved knows they are well capable of competing for honours in their division but games are fast running out on them, and we have only seen glimpses of the football they can produce in this campaign to date. On Friday evening last they were much closer to visitors Ballybay than the scoreline 0 - 8 to 2-7 suggest but again unforced and basic error as well as waywardness in front of goal cost them dearly. Our Minor team scheduled meeting with table topper Cremartin on Tuesday evening last did not materialise, and will now be pencilled after the exams. Regular coaching sessions will continue over this closed period and it's important that all squad members attend. The under 12 fixture scheduled for Saturday has been rearranged for Wed/Thur evening of next week, coaches with the panel will let everyone know which evening and exact time when final arrangements are in place. Best wishes - Good luck and best wishes to all who are sitting exams in the coming weeks. To the younger brigade who have a very important appointment in St Mary's church next Saturday morning, hope you and your families have a lovely day, and just in case the under 10 coaching session might be a distraction parents please note..It's not on this Saturday. Congratulations also to the parish confirmation class who received the blessing of the bishop in St Michael’s last week end. Totto - No one correctly forecast the sequence of numbers 1,5,4,3,7,6,2, drawn last weekend, but Shane Farrell Tullycara Castleblaney came perilously close to scooping the jackpot prize when he had the first five numbers drawn, He wins €200.The €40 winner was Rose Mc Mahon Killnaclay. €20 went to Ann Brennan Tasson Clontibret, Larry Mc Connon Threemilehouse,Deirdre Mc Elvaney Cabra, AnnMarie Mc Mahon Gortmore, G, B,E,D c/o Gerry Lynch Jackpot next week €3400 Banquet DVD - Now available from Club Secretary Sean Mc Elvaney are the DVD's from our recent gala banquet, featuring the 67-69 playing panels presentation as well as all other presentations on the night, it makes excellent viewing and is a snip at only €10. To place your order contact Sean on 087-9291612 or any committee member who will be happy to relay your requirements to an runaí. General Election Count - The count to determine who will be the T.D's representing the Cavan Monaghan Constituency for the duration of the next Dail, takes place in our club complex on Friday (tomorrow). No doubt there will be plenty of media attention over the few days and if you want to come along to view proceeding be warned access to the count floor will be limited and beyond the control of club personnel. In all instances passes will be required. Seans Notes 17/05/2007 Results & Fixture - Check official Results and Fixture Column’s for last weeks results and all forth coming fixtures. Coaching Sessions - For the week ahead as arranged with relevant coaches. Intermediate Championship - After our championship clash with Cremartin last weekend our continued involvement in this competition is now unfortunately via the back door. In this game we played second fiddle in too many positions, struggling to win any kind of meaningful possession or breaking ball in the middle of the field which meant our defence was constantly under the cosh from a lively Cremartin attack. When we did force a mini revival to level thing midway through the half, poor distribution and the concession of numerous frees within scoring distance handed the initiative right back to our opponents. The one encouraging factor from this game was that we probably had our strongest fifteen available and on view for some considerable time admittently many of them lacking match practice. That will improve with games and who knows we may still have say in the Mc Guigan Builders Intermediate championship. Next outing is in the league on Saturday evening next when Rockcorry come to TMH for a 7.30pm start. Reserve Leagues - Our "B" team travel to Ballybay on Sunday next for the earlier than usual Sunday starting time of 12.30pm while on Wed evening the "C" squad take on Fergal O Hanlons at 7.30, panellists should check official fixture section in this paper for venue. Juvenile Roundup - Pride of place this week goes to our minor squad who performed heroically to turn a nine-point deficit into a one-point victory at the end of their visit to Emyvale. The second half introduction of a less than a hundred percent fit Christopher Hughes was the spark that ignited this revival. Christopher despite carrying an injury played with his usual determined attitude and no nonsense style. He began to dominate the midfield exchange, and with Wayne Connolly finding his shooting boots (he hit 0 - 11 of the team's 0 –16 point tally) the rest of the squad rolled up their sleeves and started to reel in the locals in earnest. This result and especially that second half performance is a great boast for the squad especially in their quest for knock out stage qualification, not to mention their clash with table toppers Cremartin on Tuesday evening next. The under 16’s had a good result when the went to Smithboro last week over coming St Enda’s in a keenly contested game, they will be hoping they can put back to back victories together when they have home advantage against visitors Ballybay on Friday night. The under 14 squad had a useful run out against Tyholland at the weekend and just shaded thing at the finish. They play Clones on Thurs evening at TMH at 7.30pm all members of the squad are as to note this change. The under12 squad put up their usual wholehearted performance on Saturday last but it wasn’t sufficient to take the two point from a stronger Magheracloone side. Its important that they continue to attend their coaching sessions as there is a lot of football to be played in this division yet and who knows they might still finish in the top eight. Totto - No one correctly forecast the sequence of numbers 4,6,7,3,5,1,2, drawn last weekend. The €40 winner was Mary Murphy Naghill. €20 went Majella Kieran Togan, Jimmy Keely BlackRawe, Brian Mc Quaid Annabrack; Rosleen Mc Elvaney Monaghan Francis Evans Lisnashannagh Next week’s jackpot is €3300 Auction - A special word of thank to all club personnel who beavered so industriously to insure the hall was packed to capacity with items for the auction on Sunday last. To everyone in the parish and beyond who donated auction lots and to the many businesses who also supported this venture. All who attended and made purchases, or had useful and/or useless items dropped on them by two very efficient Auctioneers. Your support was invaluable and made this venture a tremendous success. Get Well - Currently hospitalised after receiving a nasty hand injury in a recent game we send our best wishes for a speedy recovery and a quick return home to Shane O Neill, hopefully Shane you will be back in Cabra by the time he read this. Welcome Home - We welcome Damien Larkin home after his travel down Australia way. He blazes a bit of a trial when in Oz, we look forward to him doing something similar to a few defences in the coming months, good to have you back Bruce. Intermediate Championship - It's off to Clontibret on Saturday evening next in search of 2007 championship glory, all involved will be hoping that the niggling injuries that have plagued this panel in recent outings will have cleared up and that we will have a full squad to select from. Whatever the first fifteen selected our supporters will be hoping for a much bigger and better performance than Saturday evening last when they were well and truly put to the sword by a useful Truagh side, and where better to produce a big performance than in the first round of the championship. We will all be there willing then to progress to the next round. Reserve Leagues - Both our reserve teams were in action on Sunday last the B's despite home advantage were comprehensively beaten by visitors Carickmacross. At Emyvale a couple of hours later many of the lads turned out again for the C's and were desperately disappointed to be caught by a late late Emyvale goal which saw the two league points elude them by the slenderest of margins. No games for either outfit this week the next outing is at home to Monaghan Harps on Wed 16th May in the Division 4 competition. Totto - No one correctly forecast the sequence of numbers 6,7,5,1,2,3,4, drawn last weekend. The €40 winner was Mary C. Keenan Corcaghan. €20 went to Carmel Mc Carthy Cootehill, Florence Kieran Togan, Kevin Mc Morrow Drumsheeney, Ailish & Larry Threemilehouse, Conor Curran Dundalk, Joan & Frank Mc Cabe Tattinaclave, Mark Mc Elroy Annamartin, Ann Kieran, Drumsheeney, Benny Kieran Drumsheeney, Patsy Mc Carron & Mickey Mc Mahon card. Organisers are relying on everyone's support and are hopeful that it will be our biggest and best and most successful auction to date. See you there. Juvenile Roundup - Our U14 side kept the club flag flying last week when the over came Emmett Sarsfields and although its early days in this competition they find themselves well placed to make the knock out stages. The minor panel also recorded a win getting the better of visitors Oram on a score line of 2 - 9 to 0 -11 much will depend on the outcome of this weeks game with Emyvale if they are to keep their knock out stage aspirations alive. Their fixture with Cremartin schedule for Tue 15th May has been deferred until 22nd. The U16's will be hoping to bounce back after going down at Toome last week, when they make the journey to Currin on Friday night for the tussle with St Enda's. Saturday see the Under 12 squad make the long journey to Magheracloone for the usual 4.00PM start. All panellists on the U12 and U16 squads should insure they are at the pick up points at the appointed time for these two away games. Bowls - The club's bowling squad had a very enjoyable night when the came together at the weekend in our social centre to celebrate their league and cup success. This small-dedicated band have done themselves and the club proud, a fantastic achievement in what is always a fiercely contested competition. Speaking on behalf of the squad co ordinator Frank Mc Cabe (sen) thanked all eleven members for their commitment to the cause, and appealed for new members to come along when the season recommences in September. Patrick Mc Elvaney captain of the Milk Cup winning side echo those sentiments, you have received the open invitation, Thursday evenings 8.30 to 10.30. September through to February. Again well done and congratulation to tall. Intermediate League - On Monday evening last week our senior squad put in a lack lustre performance and were comprehensively beaten by Monaghan Harps. It wasn't the loss of the two league points that irked, but the lack of passion displayed by the team on this occasion. Thankfully though they restored confidence in their collective ability on Saturday evening. Short a number of regulars through illness, for the visit of Tyholland they produced a very spirited performance and were always in touch in this game. In fact they gave home supporters cause to believe that an upset was on the card when the raced into an early 1- 3 to nil lead after only ten minutes of play. Twenty five minutes into the opening half a successfully converted penalty had the visitor's back on level terms, and deep in added time Tyholland hit what proved to be the decisive score; their second goal to leave the halftime score 1- 5 to 2-5. It was a case of as you were at the finish despite our boys best effort they couldn't narrow that half time gap the visitors outscoring them by a single point to leave the full time score Seans 1 -10 Tyholland 2-11. Next Saturday they travel to St Mellan's for what is sure to be another tough assignment, hopefully everyone will have recovered and be available for selection for the 7 o' clock throw in. Reserve Leagues - The B squad secured their first league points at the third time of asking when they overcame Clones on Sunday last on a scoreline of Clones 0 - 11 Seans 3 - 6, and what a come back nine points down mid way through the second half. The introduction of Shane O Neill and John Paul Mc Entee shift to mid field and goals from Kieran Murphy and Martin Kieran sparking the revival. Next weekend they travel to Emyvale for a fixture that is scheduled for Sunday at 3.30, but there is a possibility that an alternative time will be agreed for this one, check official fixture listings. Our C team suffered defeat on their visit to Smithboro last week, Eire Óg carrying two much fire power. They have a busy programme over the next week, home advantage against Aughnamulen on Wednesday evening and on Sunday they travel to Carrick for a 3.30 start. Minor &Under16 - Our minor squad will hope for a return to winning ways when Oram visited TMH on Tuesday especially after last weeks reversal to Clontibret their second in as many weeks. Moral and commitment remains high as reflected by excellent attendance at their coaching sessions and will be further boosted by the success of the Under 16 team last Friday in their game with Clones. For the first time in the campaign this squad produce the football we all knew they were capable off. Mark Mc Guigan epitomising the effort, he led the attack and was always a threat, chipping in with a well taking goal and three points. Padraig Mc Guirk was a powerhouse getting through a tremendous amount of work and also adding three points to his team tally. Danny Mc Nally and Jamie Mc Elvaney held sway in the middle of the field they too got on the score sheet with points apiece. Conor Hagan in the goal took off a couple of critical saves and was well fronted by Francis Mc Elvaney, Rory Lyden, Mark Bell, Emmett Connolly, Ashley Maguire, and Donal Mc Guigan who ran himself literally to a stand still, Up front as well as the chief scorers Mc Guigan and Mc Guirk, Gavan Baxter, Conor Mc Cormick Shane Larkin (1pt) Conor Mc Elroy, Shane Hagan (1pt) and Jonathan Bannon all showed up well, the latter grabbed a lovely pass before beating two defenders to plant the ball firmly in the Clones net . The U16 squad travels to Toome on Friday night while the minors travel to Emyvale on Tue 8th Under14 - This squad makes the short journey up the road to Newbliss for their joust with Emmett Sarsfield on Saturday next at the usual starting time of 4.00 Under12 - The gulf that exist among teams in the under 12 combined Division 1 and 2 competition was clearly demonstrated last Saturday when out youngsters were overwhelm by a rampant Scotstown.side. These one sided encounters do nothing for either victor or vanquished except maybe emphasise the chasm, and the amount of work clubs with our small numbers have to do to even try and compete with the big boys. Despite this set back these lads are already looking forward to their next outing, I'm not so sure about the mentors though, but they too will not be found wanting in their coaching and preparation endeavours and no doubt their dinged egos will be back to their bubbly best on Saturday week. Keep the club flag flying lads Totto - Eileen Lynch Cabra came within one number of scooping the jackpot prize of €3000 when she correctly forecast the first five numbers drawn, She wins €200 for her gallant effort, The €40 winner was Hughie Mc Elvaney Corcaghan. €20 went to Gerard Mc Entee Mullinavanóg, Paddy Mc Guinness Cornasoo, and Josh Dearden c/o Sean Mc Mahon, Amy Mc Kearnan Middletown, and the Prunty Family Drumgarve. The numbers drawn were 7,1,4,5,3,2,6,Next week's jackpot prize is €3100. Watch out for details of our new revamped Totto draw. The main changes are additional prizes, more multi draw options as well as the introduction of a standing order option. The standard €2 weekly subscription remains unchanged with a slight increase from €60 to €70 for the annual subscription. , Auction - Keep free Sunday 13th May for auction in support the youth and underage section of the club. Bowls Presentation - Big night on Bank Holiday Sunday 6th May in our social centre when our guests are the double winning bowls team, come along and give this squad a night to remember. Seans 2 - 4 St. Pats 1 - 9 Fixture - U16.Clones V Seans (A) Fri 27th 7.00pm Coaching Sessions - All panellists should check with their relevant coaches for scheduled activities for the week ahead. Intermediate League - A couple of big games this week that will be key indicators as to where we stand in the pecking order for the Vincent Mc Aviney cup. Against Monaghan Harps on Monday night in Rooskey and on Saturday evening next at TMH when Tyholland are visitors, as I say how we perform against these sides arguable two of the best teams in the division will determine just how well our rebuilding and consolidation plans are going. Reserve"B" League - This outfit against Tyholland put in a much better performance than in their first outing but still ended up on the wrong side of a Seans 2 - 6 Tyholland 3 - 8 scoreline. They were rocked back on their heel as Tyholland found the net with the game only minutes old. The three points they had scored after twenty minutes was a meagre return for the amount of possession they enjoyed in this period and only a Mark Keogh converted penalty kept them in touch at the interval. Tyholland added two further goals to that earlier opener the second a deceptive thirty five metre sideline free which ricochet of the upright to the net. The third when defenders demands for a free went unheeded by the referee and the visiting forward took full advantage of the bird in the hand, leaving the half time score 1-3 to3 - 2. The second half was a scrappy affair giving both sets of supporters plenty to shout about as the teams shared the scoring stakes equally 1- 3 to 6pts. Our goal coming from the boot of Eamonn Mc Quillan. Sunday next sees them with an away game with Clones at 3.30pm Minor - Our minor team suffered their first defeat at the hands of St Pats the Ballybay Drumhowan combination when the sides met at TMH on Tuesday evening last. Over a very competitive hour, defensive lapses in the opening half proved the undoing of our lads and although they showed a marked improvement in this department in the second half forcing the visitors to work much harder for their scores, they just couldn't peg back that first half deficit. Try as they did they found the St Pat's defence a hard nut to crack and although our lads created plenty of chances the visitors held out for two very valuable league points on a final score of Seans 2 - 4 St Pats 1- 9 They play Clontibret this week; round 4 on Tuesday1st May see Oram visit pairc Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada for a 7.15 start. Under16 - Involved in a seven goal thriller this squad must wait to register their first league points. Early first half goals proved decisive for the visitors this time Corduff the beneficiaries of the green flags. It was end to end stuff throughout but the visitors were a better balanced side and much more clinical in front of goal than our lads. No one could fault the effort of our team but lack of panel numbers and injuries didn't help the cause in this one and Corduff ended up comfortable winners at least on the scoreboard on a result of Seans 2-12 Corduff 5-12. On Friday the boys travel to Clones for a 7.00pm throw in for what they hope will see their fortune change for the better in their third outing in this competition. Under14 - The only team to record a club victory last week this outfit proved too strong for Latton in their early morning encounter on Saturday last, playing with better team cohesion than the O Raghlaigh youngsters they ran out comfortable winners. Seans 3 - 12 Latton 2 - 5 result. Under12 - This squad travels to Scotstown on Saturday next for what is sure to prove a very tough assignment against one of the strongest team in the competition. Starting time is 4.00pm parental and family support would be much appreciated Under10 - In the Community games competition this squad completed their programme on Wednesday evening last in Clones. Both sides were well matched and the result was in doubt right up to the finish, with the home side just shading it thanks to a brace of goals midway through the second half. Coaching continues on Saturday morning as usual at 10.00. A couple of friendly games are in the pipeline so its important that everyone eligible turns out to these sessions. Totto - The numbers drawn 4,3,2,1,6,7,5 were not correctly forecast, The €40 winner was Jimmy Mc Connon Gortmore. The €20 winners were, Cristina Coyle Mullinavanóg, Padraig Mc Caffrey Clones, Patsy Mc Carron & Michael Mc Mahon Card Players, Gary Larkin, Catherine Farrelly Swellan Cavan Next week's jackpot prize is €3000. Special Olympics - The club executive committee decided to donate much more to the Special Olympics Fund than was raised at last weeks £ingo session. This worthy cause will now benefit to the tune of €1,000. It is hoped that Special Olympics co-ordinator Elaine Ferguson will be on hand at this weeks session to accept this donation. Reminder to anyone who wishes to support this fund or help out with an event, Elaine can be contacted at 047-81569. Auction - This year's club auction will be held in the complex on Sunday 13th May commencing at 4.30pm. Items deemed suitable with potential resale value can/will be collected by club personnel from Tue - Sat, alternatively items can be delivered on Saturday afternoon from 2-5pm as the main hall will be opened and manned at this time. Proceeds from this fund raising event go towards the support and development of our juvenile and youth coaching structures, as well as helping to defray the substantial transport and materials cost involved. Support for this event in previous years has been phenomenal both in terms of supplying items and purchases. I have every reason to believe that this year's event will be equally well supported. Can I ask parishioners therefore to do what they can when the roundup begins and collectors come knocking. But bear in mind worth or value is a bit like beauty, it's in the eye of the beholder, what with waste disposal costs don't take offence if your "priceless heirloom" is not accepted. This is an opportunity to support the most important section of the club; our juveniles; it is not the chance to get stuff to the Scots Corner recycling/waste disposal facility via Seam Mac Diarmada. Most I hope will understand this. Bowls - Adult club members are invited to our social centre on Sunday night 6th May to celebrate the success of our bowling squad. They lifted both the league and cup trophies earlier in the year and this is an opportunity to acknowledge that great achievement as well as the chance to applaud their dedication and commitment in that arena over many years Sympathy - The club extends sincerest sympathy to the O'Brien and Treanor families on the death of Roseanne Treanor. Intermediate League - On Saturday evening last at Aghabog our senior team frustrated and thrilled our big band of supporters in equal measure, the saving grace; they did run out comfortable winners in the end on a score line of Aghabog 0 -10 Seans 3 - 8. Aghabog took an early lead but our lads had forged ahead mid way through the half when Patrick Kieran found the net after hesitancy in the home defence was capitalised on by a persistent Noel Rice, he released Gary Larkin to part to the goal scorer who found the target from close range. The goalkeeper was again picking the ball out of the home net, after James Treanor doubled on a ground pass to steer the ball just past his diving fingergertips into the corner for a great opportunist goal, leaving the half time score Aghabog 0 - 4 Seans 2 - 4. All of our travelling support were delighted with the opening ten minutes of the second half, the lads produced superb football giving the home side a mountain to climb. Derick Mc Mahon hit two long range points from play all of forty metre out, the second after slick interchanges with Mark Mc Entee and Martin Kieran. Mc Mahon turned provider with a long deliver to James Treanor, the former having been released by a similar pass from wing back Fintan Mc Kenna, after that defender had fielded superbly to set up the best move of the match and the flee footed Treanor rattled the roof of the net with an unstoppable effort. In this purple patch Treanor added two more point from play. From there to the finish much of that supporter frustration mentioned was borne out of uncharacteristic fouling which was invariably punished and always gave the home side a glimmer of redemption, indeed it was thanks to the leniency of the man in the middle that punishment was only on the scoreboard. No doubt the management team will be working on this element of their game over the coming weeks. For had the team been more disciplined in this aspect the margin would have been much greater at the finish. Training continues as usual on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 8.00pm. Because of Monaghan's appointment in Croker on Saturday evening the game with Monaghan Harps has been provisionally rescheduled for Rooskey on Monday evening 23rd throw in is 7.15p, but this will be dependant on the outcome of that Allianz semi final clash. Minor - Our minor team got off to a flying start last week when they accounted for Emmett Sarsfields the Aghabog Kileevan combination on a score line of Emmett Sarsfields 0 - 4 Seans 2 - 10.This week they host St Patricks the Ballybay Drumhowan pairing at TMH, while on Tuesday 24th April they travel to Clontibret for a 7.15 start, check with mentors re. bus departure time. Under16 - Our minors may have been flying but this squad in their first outing unfortunately much to the disappointment of everyone involved, never got off the ground. Short a few regulars they fell victim to a strong Emyvale outfit on a scoreline of Seans 0 - 7 Emyvale 4 - 7, they will be hoping for better fortune tomorrow night (Fri) when they make an early departure from the complex via the Co-op for their joust with Corduff at 7.00pm. All panellists are asked to be at the appropriate pick up points at the appointed time. Under14 - This outfit were very disappointed after being piped by Ballybay by a single point in their last outing. They will be hoping to get back on track on Saturday next when Latton make the journey to TMH for an earlier than usual start of 11.00am. This time change is due to Monaghan V Meath Croke Park showdown at 6.00pm on Saturday evening. Under12 - This squad had a very stern test on Saturday last when Castleblaney were visitors to TMH, their cause wasn't helped when they conceded three early goals in as many minutes, which left them always playing catch up. To their credit they never gave up and actually matched the visitors in the scoring stakes in the second half, but they never recovered from those early scores and ended up on the end of a heavy defeat on a score line of Seans 2 - 7 Castleblaney 6 - 9. Coaching as arranged with mentors their next outing is away to Scotstown on Saturday 28th April at 4.00pm. Under 10 - Games are coming thick and fast for these little ones they put up a creditable performance against Clontibret in the Community games competition on Thursday evening last. They play Clones this week, and had a very enjoyable and competitive friendly with Monaghan Harp on Saturday morning. Well done to the many parents who made the effort to give the youngsters support at these matches. For the children themselves it's important that they don't miss the coaching sessions as games can be arranged at very short notice and they certainly don't want to miss those. Totto - 2,7,3,5,6,4,1 were the numbered sequence drawn last week, there were no correct forecast. The €40 winner was Therese Mc Connon Gortmore. The €20 winners were Josie Fay London, Annie & Mark Cusack Aghabog, John Keenan Scotstown, Bernadette Savage Monaghan, Gerard Mc Entee Mullinavanóg Next week's jackpot prize is €2900. Special Olympics - The club very much appreciates the continued support given by patrons to our weekly €ingo, but especially so to last Monday night's session. The proceeds from this session are being donated to the Special Olympic fund. As a unit of the biggest voluntary organisation in the country we are delighted to be associated with and help out financially this very worthy cause. For anyone locally who wished to contribute and may have missed this occasion to do there will no doubt be other opportunities. Monaghan’s Special Olympics co-ordinator Elaine Ferguson will be delighted to hear from anyone who is planing an event in support of the fund or who wishes to make a financial donation to it, Elaine can be contacted at 047-81569. Defensive frailties were again punished and they ended up on the wrong side of a 1 - 8 to 0 – 8 result Under14 - Our U14 squad were disappointed after been piped by a single point in their game with Ballybay on Saturday evening last. In what was at time a bruising encounter the exuberance shown often stretched the rules to the limits. Time ran out on our lads as Ballybay although numerically depleted found the net with only minutes remaining and held on to secure both league points on a final score of Ballybay 2 – 8 Seans 1 –10 Under12 - This squad had a very useful exercise on Saturday last when they travelled to Smithboro for a friendly with Eire Óg. Both sets of coaches used the occasion to give all their charges a chance to show their capabilities, and the youngsters didn’t disappoint. For the mentors they now have a few added headaches as they try and decide on their best selections for next Saturday’s series of games. Our lads have home advantage when Castleblaney make the trip to TMH for the earlier than usual starting time of 11 o clock. Please note the time change. This is due to the Under 21 Ulster Final Monaghan V Armagh in Omagh later in the afternoon. We wish all involved in that one the very best. Totto - The numbered sequence of 5,6,2,3,4,1,7 drawn last week was not correctly forecast. The €40 winner was Macartan Mc Mahon Gortmore. €20 went to Aine Cleere Corcaghan, Jack Brennan Drumguill, James Morgan Moys Clomtibret, Brendan Mc Nally Corcaghan, Sean Mc Mahon 26Cabra, and the five additional “bank holiday” €20 winners were Nan Rudden Castleblaney, James Treanor Knockablaney, Pat Mc Quaid Annabrack Terry Docherty Monaghan, Kate & PJ Togan Next week's jackpot prize is €2800. Intermediate League - Our Intermediate league game originally fixed for Sunday afternoon with neighbours Aghabog, has, because of Monaghan’s rescheduled Allianz League match with Leitrim been rearranged for Saturday evening next at 7 o clock at the Aghabog venue. All supporters are asked to note this change of date and starting time. They should also be aware that admission to the Leitrim V Monaghan game in Cloone is by ticket only and ground capacity is only 2,500 Under 16 & Minors - Our U16 squad make their debut in this years campaign on Friday night (tomorrow) at 6.45pm when Truagh are visitors to TMH and on Tuesday evening at 7.00pm our minor team have their first home game when St. Patricks are visitors. I would encourage as much home support as possible to turn out to give these lads the support they deserve. Auction - For all those who are under pressure from her indoors or even him outdoors because they have been hoarding stuff in garages, attics, cardboard boxes, etc since our last auction almost two year ago, well the good news is, plans are in place to hold a auction extravaganza on Sunday 13th May. These biannual sales have become an integral element of our youth committees fund-raising activity and the support they have received in the past had to be seen to be believed. Last time that tremendous support saw it take two days to dispose of all acquired lots, this time round it is intended to start proceeding early Sunday afternoon, but more details re collection of items and the auction details over the coming weeks. Under 10 Community Games football - Well the day is finally here for our youngest brigade’s first competitive fixture, this evening (Thur) at 6.30 at TMH a Kilmore/Drumsnatt parish selection play Clontibret in the Community Games U10 mixed Gaelic football competition. These wee ones can’t wait to get into action, and win loose or draw it would be great if as many parents and family members as possible could come along to give them an evening to remember. Reserve "B" Team - Our reserve B team had their first competitive action on Saturday evening last when Inniskeen made the long trip to club headquarters. The visitors opened the scoring, and raced into an early lead which they never subsequently lost, our cause wasn't help when a mistake in the defence midway through the opening half was severely punished with a well struck shot that gave Darren Mc Ardle in the goal no chance. Shane O Neill and Damien Connolly from play and frees had two points apiece to kept our lads just about in touch at the interval, the scoreline reading Seans 0- 4 Inniskeen 1 - 6. With the second half only minutes old Inniskeen bagged their second goal and looked to be coasting to an easy victory, but pointed frees from Connolly and two from O Neill kept hope of a turnaround alive. Inniskeen raised a couple of white flags of their own and it was back to a four point game when Ciaran Murphy after persistent play by Gerard Mc Ardle was on hand to turn the ball into the Inniskeen net from close range. Unfortunately a couple of minutes later the honest endeavour and integrity of the players throughout this match wasn't match by that of the visiting officiating umpire and a seemingly legitimate goal for our lads went unrecorded, giving home supporters much to shout about, but for all the wrong reasons. Even had this major been chalked up its was unlikely to have changed the outcome as the Grattan's were a much slicker outfit and well deserved the league points, final score Seans 1 - 8 Inniskeen 2 - 10. Apart from those already mentioned and defender Eamonn Mc Quillan we had few who played up to par, and the panel know that there will have to be a big improvement in individual and collective performances if they are to get anything from their next outing away to Doohamlet on Saturday evening. News concerning Stephen Mc Elvaney is encouraging, he came through Saturday encounter without any ill effects, Stephen is battling to finally shake of a niggling injury that has seen him sidelined for most of last year, early signs are good. Under12 - Our U12 squad entertained Truagh in the opening game of their league campaign at TMH on Saturday last, and did very well to share the spoils on a scoreline of Seans 3 - 6 Truagh 2 - 9. Truagh hit the opening two points, but at the other end Patrick Mc Cabe showed exceptionally tenacity to set up Yvonne Ward who blasted to the net from close range. Truagh responded with a pile driver from all of twenty-five yards which unsighted goalkeeper Sean Freeman could do little about. It was nip and tuck in all sections; our lads did struggled however to cope with Truagh's midfield pair. These two lovely ball players combined well to breach the home defence with another major, and the visitors extended their lead further with a sweet left footed point and a converted "45". Colin Mc Elvaney and Pierce Murphy were working overtime around the middle of the field, Ryan Mc Guinness was also impressing in the full back berth, all three linked up with David Mc Kenna, the Truagh defence failed to clear his shot and Ryan Mc Entee was on hand to toe poke the ball to the unguarded net. Niall Kearns was accurate with two well hit frees but Truagh maintained their slender two point lead at the interval, thanks to the bravery of their goalkeeper, he saved point blank fromYvonne Ward with time almost up, to leave the half time score Seans 2 - 2 Truagh 2 - 4. Truagh opened the second half with a lovely skilful point, Niall Kearns and David Mc Kenna converted frees but Truagh landed two from play midfielders again playing their part. David Mc Kenna was on the end of a well worked Seans move involving Dillon Keenan Shane Farrell and Enda Connolly the latter setting up Mc Kenna to raise the white flag. Ryan Mc Guinness and Paul Bannon combined to thwart an attack and Conor Freeman latched on to the breaking ball to release Aidan Ward who parted to the supporting Colin Mc Elvaney his shot was partially blocked but Ryan Mc Entee was again on hand to slot the rebound to the Truagh net for his second goal but more importantly the lead for his side. That lead was short lived as Truagh power from midfield equalised and then went one up again, and it was left to free taker Niall Kearns to square thing up with a converted fifteen metre free. With both sides trying to play good football, this was a very enjoyable game for the many parents who turned out to lend their support and in the end I doubt if either side will quibble about the result. Next Saturday this panel travel to Smithboro for a friendly with EireÓg throw in is 12 O'clock bus leaves the complex immediately after the Under 10 session at 11.15am. Totto - No one correctly forecast the numbered sequence of 5,6,2,4,1,3,7 drawn last week. The €40 winner was Macartan Kieran Dublin St. €20 went to Paul Kelly Killnaclay, P. Curran Clontibret, Aoife Mc Elvaney Cooldaragh, and Sean Hurson Greenan's Cross, Philomena Duffy Cabra. Next week's jackpot prize is €2700.Singular subscription envelopes are widely available through out the parish as are entries for multi draws. The committee very much appreciates all support for this weekly fund raising enterprise no matter how small; every little bit helps. That continued support and more is needed right now as we co-ordinate and embark on a series of major expensive elements of development at Pairc Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada. Development - The first leg of the proposed development; the construction of a retaining embankment wall is moving apace, and if the same progress is made over the next couple of weeks as initially, then it will be complete for our next home senior match. It looks impressive, for those who can't wait to see the finished product and decide to take a gander, please exercise extreme care and attention especially if entering the immediate wall area. At the moment it might be prudent to admire from afar. Signs and barriers are in place but parents are asked to remind children to stay clear. Get well - A couple of early season injury casualties are wished a speedy return to fitness, young Adrian Prunty who sustained a nasty wrist injury in the opening game of the Under 14 competition, and Nigel Mc Quillan who's footballing future was in doubt if initial reports on his knee injury had to be believed. Thankfully no surgery was required, just an overnight stay in hospital, plus a couple of weeks rest and Nigel should be back to his best. We look forward to his return. Seans Notes 29-03-07 Results - Reserve League Div 4 "C" Seans 4 - 7 Blackhill 0 - 7 Fixture -
Reserve League Div 3 "B" Seans (H) V Inniskeen 12.30pm Sun 1st April Coaching Sessions - U8/10… Sat. morning 10.00am and Thursday 6.00 U12 Saturday 4.00pm and Tuesday 6.45; U.14 Wednesday & Friday 7.00pm; U.16 Thursday 7.00 Minors Monday & Wednesday 8.00pm With the arrival of summer time all sessions will be conducted outdoors, participants are reminded to bring the necessary outdoor gear, boots, tracksuits, own water bottle, etc, and of course for the younger participants if weather conditions dictate a change to dry clothing. Reserve "C" Team - A hat trick of goals from Colin Murphy proved the decisive factors in the outcome of our "C" team's encounter with Blackhill on Sunday last. The game was only ten minutes old when Murphy found the net after fielding well; he beat his marker, and gave the goalkeeper no chance from the edge of the square. Sean's dominance stem from the midfield supremacy where John Paul Mc Entee was always conspicuous, Eammon Mc Quillan was moping up anything that came his way in the half back line, and further back Padraic Coyle the youthful Christopher Hughes and steady Enda Murphy were in uncompomrising mood restricting the visitor's attackers to miserly possession. Hughes in one of his many forward forays set Shane O Neill up for a long range point, Murphy's second major came after Blackhill failed to clear and Gerard Mc Ardle's persistence paid off for the full forward to toe poke the ball to the net. Blackhill's cause wasn't help when they lost a man to a second yellow card offence. In the second half that numerical advantage began to tell and when Murphy completed his hat trick with the half only six minutes old the game was over as a contest. The introduction of Fintan Connolly, Mathew Mc Crudden, Eunan Mc Entee and Fergal Mullan for the home side added fresh impetus to their endeavours, which was rewarded with a well-taken goal by Cristian Keenan.Although Blackhill were somewhat wasteful in front of goal goalkeeper Fergal Mc Quillan had to be alert to keep his second clean sheet in succession in this competition. Next week our reserve "B" team are in action when Inniskeen make the journey to TMH for a 12.30pm start. Under14 - Our U14 squad got off to a winning start in their 13-aside division 2 clash with visitors Donaghmoyne at TMH on Saturday last. Powered by midfield dynamo Jamie Mc Elvaney they ran out comfortable winners in the end on a score line of Seans 4 - 9 Donaghmoyne 1 - 6. This however was no one sided affair as both teams served up great passages of delightful football as they vied for supremacy. Mc Elvaney opened the scoring with a well taking goal, Shane Hagan added a point from a free on the 14-metre line and went on to produce a very industrious performance belying his physique. Midfielder Mc Elvaney raised another white flag before Niall Garland opened the visitors account with a neat point after ten minutes of play. The Seans goal had a couple of lucky escapes but Conor Mc Elroy defended stoically to prevent a major breech and when the visitors again came agonisingly close this time Stephen Mc Carron was on hand to deflect the ball away from danger, Stephen Byrne landed the resultant 45. James Connolly put Seans back in the driving seat with a goal and a point the latter coming after good work from Mathew Mc Cabe and Adrian Prunty. When Colin Mc Elvaney set the in rushing Shane Larkin up for a third Sean's goal the game seemed to be swinging the local's way. Donaghmoyne showed true grit and Gareth Mc Connell hit a good point from play almost immediately and when the same player found the Seans net on the stroke of half time the visitors were right back in the match. In the second half our lads pushed on by the impressive Mc Elvaney and the half-back line of Conor Kearns James Mc Aleer and Dwane Mc Caffrey who proved major stumbling blocks to the Donaghmoyne forward division, and were in fact the launching pads for many of the Seans attacks. The Fontenoy's goal for much of the half was under siege and although their net minder performed heroically, he and the defenders on the day just couldn't stem the tide and our boys as already stated ran out comfortable winners in the end. Both sets of youngsters and mentors are to be complimented for the excellent fare served up, if this is the quality of football on offer every Saturday I would encourage more parents to come out and support their team. Artists - Patrons, who supported our Gala Banquet last week will no doubt have been impressed by the look and appearance of our main hall, transformed as it was from usual sports arena to cosy function room for the occasion. This transformation was achieved by a major investment in time, plus the artistic ability of a few who ply their trade locally as electrician, carpenters, and painters and a couple of other gents who have no trade, nothing, but good taste and an eye for detail…neither easily pleased. Like the Sistine Chapel though one had to look up to see the work of the true artist; the newly installed Club Crest. Harry take a bow an exceptional piece of craftsmanship. Well worth a look when next in the hall. Mention of the Banquet, ticket co-ordinators will be calling for the relevant subscriptions if they haven't already done so. Minister for finance Mary will demand her collectors have all squared up and nothing is carried forward into next month. To whom it concerns assist her to meet that target, please Membership Subscription - Last call for payment of membership subscriptions. Anyone wishing to renew their membership and have a vote at the club's Annual General Meeting has until 31st March to comply with association regulations. If you haven't already done so the €10 membership subscription fee should be paid immediately to club registrar Ciaran Mc Entee. Totto - Jenny Lennon Latton correctly forecast the first five of the seven numbers drawn last weekend and wins herself €200 for her gallant effort at scooping the €2500 jackpot. The numbers drawn were 2,3,4,5,6,7,1.The €40 winner was Cathy Mc Elroy Aughnacloy, and the €20 prizewinners were Bridie Mc Connon Gortmore, Josie Fay c/o Ciaran Mc Entee, Margaret Woods Killylough, J Cunningham Drumbear, and Brian Elliott Corcaghan. Next week's jackpot prize is €2600 Courses - An interesting course tonight Thurs from 7.30 -9.30 p.m. indoors in Cloghan is "Integration of Services" tutor Dr.Eugene Young will focus on elements that contribute to modern day coaching, nutrition, physiotherapy, medical, conditioning, psychology and how they interact with one another. Oh, as well these tasty morsels there will be the usual financial bonanza up for grabs including a couple of very lucrative Jackpots. If you can spare a couple of hours on Monday night next, why not come along to our comfortably heated and well lighted centre and enjoy a great social occasion, it could even help your bank balance. Seans Notes 22-03-07 Results - Intermediate League Seans 1- 12 Drumhowan 0 - 09 Fixture - Reserve League Div 4 "C" Seans (H) V Blackhill 3.00pm Coaching Sessions - U8/10… Sat. morning 10.00am U12 Saturday 4.00pm and Tuesday 7.00 U.14 Wednesday & Friday 7.00pm; U.16 Thursday 7.00 Minors Monday & Wednesday 8.00pm All squads are reminded to bring indoor and outdoor training gear. Senior team - On Sunday last the first team surprised our supporters when they played some lovely football in atrocious weather conditions to run out comfortable winners over visitors Drumhowan on a scoreline of 1 - 12 to 0 -09. The decisive score in the first half came from Nigel Mc Quillan when he collect a long delivery and dispatched the ball to the visitors net from close range. The best score of the game also came in this half from wingback Fintan Mc Kenna along the sideline his massive effort split the post from all of forty meters. In the second half our lads found the target with unerring accuracy which will have pleased their management team no end. While the scores were well finished by marksmen Paddy Kieran and James Treanor, Derek Mc Mahon, and Noel Rice it was the teams constructive approach play that will have given most encouragement. Best performers were the aforementioned score getters Martin Kieran, Gary Mc Entee, and Emylin Clerkin. See match report. Next outing away to neighbours Aghabog on 15th April. Gala Banquet - The annual gala banquet held in our sports centre on Sunday night last was a tremendous success and a most enjoyable occasion. It was great to see so many of our special guests the '67-'69 playing panel able to attend, many of them travelling long distances to be present. Mickey Moran braved the arctic conditions too, not to disappoint, and in his after dinner speech he said facilities and successes were important for community spirit, but the most important aspect of club involvement was friendships and people. We should he said never loose sight of the individual. A word of thanks to all who helped make the night the success it was, patrons for their excellent time keeping, allowing proceeding to get under was as scheduled. The entertainers, caterer, music maker, volunteers from the U16 and minor squad, and the photographers hopefully elsewhere in this edition space will allow their pictorial records of the occasion to be published. Mc Entee Award - Few in attendance were surprised or could quibble that the players choice to receive the Mc Entee award for the Players player went to ace marksman and exceptional talent Gary Larkin. Gary was in great form last year, hit his customary number of spectacular goals (teammates suggested jammy) and certainly did his bit to keep our intermediate status alive when things looked bleakest. Plagued by a career threatening knee injury he is one of our most prolific score getters, and has a scoring tally that compares with any forward that has donned the saffron and white. This award is no more than he deserves. Congratulations Gary. Chairmen and presidents - For the first time in a good many years we had all six former club chairmen present at our banquet on Sunday night last and had it not been for a long arranged previous engagement we would also have had a 100% attendance of our life presidents. Such has been their commitment and dedication to the club a few have dual portfolios. For the record and in order of their tenure the chairmen who have served the club over the first forty-six years have been Seamus Timoney, Edward Murphy, Mickey Mc Mahon, Cormac Connolly, Gerry Lynch, Benny Kieran and Danny Clekin. Club life presidents are Brian Sherdian, P.J. Murphy, Francie Mc Elvaney, Peter Mc Elvaney, Mickey Mc Mahon, Seamus Mulligan.Fr.Pat Mc Hugh and Seamus Timoney. Great to see them all fit and well and able to attend, its on occasions like this that we really appreciate their presence with us. Presentations - Newly weds who received presentations were Eamonn and Laura Coyle, and Adrian and Olivia Larkin, both men have been consistent performers with the club since childhood. I don't think even their new marital status will dilute that loyalty and I suspect Ciaran will have already added two new names to his club membership list. The biggest reception of the night was reserved for a lady… Eileen Mc Mahon. The presentation she received didn't appear on the nights programme, had it done so she may not have turned up, as she herself would have deemed this presentation unnecessary. For twenty years or so she has volunteered her medical expertise to the club, looking after first aid requirements of players at all levels but particularly with the senior squads. The standing ovation she received was obvious appreciation by the many players and management teams in attendance of her unmeasurable worth in the dug out over this period. We wish her well on her "retirement" but I doubt if she will get to put her feet up, especially if she takes on her new roll of grandmother with the same fervour as she brought to looking after our players. Membership Subscription - Despite the celebrations at the week-end its back to bread and butter issues, time is fast running out to comply with association regulations regarding club membership subscriptions. If you haven't already done so the €10 membership subscription fee should be paid to club registrar Ciaran Mc Entee immediately. Juvenile Coaching & games - All juvenile squads are asked to note their coaching session day and time and make every effort to attend, there's enjoyment in numbers. They may wish to keep this, it's the fixture programmed as received to date. The under 12 and under 14 are out on alternative Saturdays at 4.00pm.Starting with the U14 on Sat next 24th March Seans (H) V Donaghmoyne; Sat 7th April Ballybay V Seans (A); Sat 21st April Seans (H) V Latton. The Under 12 programme is Sat 31st March Seans (H) V Truagh; Sat 14th April Seans (H) V Castleblaney; Sat 28th April Seans (H) V Scotstown. Such is the structure of the Under12 league this year that perceived Division 2 teams have as far as possible home advantage in the opening rounds of this competition, hence our three opening home matches. Not an easy thing to manage but new county Youth Officer Padraig Sherry has done that at least were our lads are concerned. The Under 16's are out on Friday night commencing on Fri 13th April Seans (H) V Truagh 6.45pm; Fri 20th April Seans (H) V Corduff 7.00pm;Fri 27th April Clones V Seans (A) 7.00pm. The minor squad travel just up the road to take on EmmettSarsfields the Aghabog /Killeevan combination in their opening game on Tuesday 10th April at 7pm and on Tue 17th April Seans (H) V St Patricks 7.00pm Totto - 7,3,1,4,2,5,6. were the numbers drawn last week, there were no correct forecasts. €40 winner was Conor Mc Elroy C/o Gerry Lynch. In the bank-holiday extra draw the €20 went toMrs Marie Mc Nee 79 Bree C'Blaney, John Duffy83 O'Neill Park Clones, M.Breakey Threemilehouse, Mgt Clarke Annyalla, John& Elizabeth Prunty Cabra, Kayla Mc Kenna Cabra, Marian Mc Morrow Threemilehouse, Barry Mc Guinness Cornasoo, Marie Mc Entee Threemilehouse, Niamh, Lisa, Niall& Killian Murphy Naghill Development - Anyone who braved the elements last Sunday will have noticed that work has commenced on wall construction on the hillside embankment at Pairc Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada. This is the first element of work in an ongoing programme of development planned for completion this year. This will enhance our new playing pitch and added greatly to spectator comfort. Given favourable weather conditions this element should be in three to four week's time. Seans Notes 15-03-07 Results - Reserve League Seans 0 - 5 Oram 0 - 7 Fixture - Intermediate League Sun 18th March Seans (H) V Drumhowan 3.00 Coaching Sessions - U8/10… No Sat. session; U12 Sunday 1.00pm and Tuesday 7.00 U.14 Wednesday & Friday 7.00pm; U.16 Thursday 7.00 Minors Monday & Wednesday 8.00pm All squads are reminded to bring indoor and outdoor training gear. Senior Panel - On Sunday last the first team had a good run out against Brookborough at TMH at 12 o' clock but ended up on the wrong side of a 1 -5 to 2 - 5 scoreline. Short a few of our regulars this was none the less a very worthwhile exercise and should stand them in good stead for the visit of Drumhown next Sunday in round two of the intermediate league, throw in is 3.00pm The second game at headquarters on Sunday was the reserves teams clash with Oram. The visitors opened the scoring with a point in the second minute; Nigel Mc Quillan leveled two minutes later, Oram responded with a similar score after a pass in the Seans defence was intercepted. Following good work by Noel Rice parity was restored when he released Colin Murphy to hit a long-range point. Barry Mc Guinness was on the end of a sweeping Sean's move started by Paraic Coyle but he pulled his shot inches wide. Colin Murphy and Nigel Mc Quillan had similar efforts off target before Niall Bishop restored the visitors lead with a well struck forty metre free, to leave the half time score Seans 0 - 2 Oram 0 - 3. In the second moiety Oram opened briskly and after sustained pressure Turlough Fitzsimmons landed a good point in the second minute. Seans hit several wides and Nigel Mc Quillan brought a good save out of the Oram keeper before they did manage to find the range in the tenth minute to reduce the deficit to a single point. Noel Rice working feverishly in the middle of the field found Nigel Mc Quillan who slipped his marker to level things with fifteen minutes gone. Colin Murphy put our side in front for the first time in the match again after good work by Noel Rice. Gareth Moen had the team's level when he landed a point from a free. Our keeper Fergal Mc Quillan was quickly of his line to deny the incoming forward when his defensive guards were left flat footed in the twenty second minute, but he could only watch Shane Fitzsimmons raised a white flag two minutes later, and when Gareth Moen added an insurance point the game seemed to be heading the visitors way. To their credit our lads never gave up and in the closing minutes the Oram goal had a charmed existence, with their net minder called on to make a couple of first class point blank saves to prevent our boys snatching the points at the death. Good to see team manager David Treanor with a headache-- a big squad to select from long may that continue. Paraic Coyle on this occasion get our Star performer award. Gala Banquet - Sunday next 18th March is the date of our annual banquet, all patrons should be seated before 9.00, definitely no later. There is a long programme to get through it's important therefore that the timetable is adhered to. As well as giving due recognition to our special guests the playing panel of forty year ago, the history making treble Dr. Ward Cup winners '67-'69. Presentations will be also made to newly wedded players; the winner of the coveted Mc Entee Award will be announced and presented to the Player's Player. as selected by last year's senior playing panel. Event co-ordinators Danny and Sean may have a couple of surprises in store just to add to the nights suspense, and of course we have as our very very special guest Derry's Mickey Moran to look forward to. As mention last week this is an occasion for young and old alike to celebrate, but our two co-ordinators must have final figures this evening (Thur). If you still haven't a ticket, get on your bike and treat yourself to what promises to be an unforgettable night. Membership Subscription - With only a couple of weeks to go to the closing date, club membership subscriptions should be paid to club registrar Ciaran Mc Entee immediately. The subscription fee is only €10. Juvenile Coaching Sessions - Many of the under age competitions are due to commence at the end of this month or early in April it important then that all panellists note the time and day of their particular session and make every effort to attend. If early attendance figures at these sessions are an indicator this promises to be a very competitive year. Keep it up. Totto - There were no correct forecasts for the numbers drawn last week 7,4,2,1,3,5,6. The €40 went to Olivia Mc Connon Killnaclay, and there is €20 on its way to Paul Kelly Killnaclay, Margaret Reilly Dartry, John Mc Elvaney Drumguill, Annie & Mark Cusack Aghabog, and Frank Thornton Cabra. Next weeks jackpot is €2400. If you are in a position to take a yearly Totto subscription or purchase any of the multiprize draws options, the club would very much welcome your support. Promoters are wanted, club treasurer Mary Mc Connon is regularly on the look out for new recruits, every remittance no matter how big or small is always appreciate, if you think you can help with this promotion just give Mary a shout. Bon Voyage - We extend best wishes to our regular Wednesday night Social Centre hostess Breda Mc Connon as she embarks on her travels this week; we wish her a safe enjoyable and memorable excursion. Mc Rory Cup Final - All in the club wish Patrick Kieran and his St Macartan College team mates all the best in their quest for Mc Rory Cup glory on Monday next 19th when they take on Omagh CBS in the final in Casement Park at 1.15pm. Hopefully the Seans faithful will help swell the Sem support and travel in big numbers to the Belfast venue, to that end a coach will leave the Complex on Monday morning at 11.15 sharp. We would encourage travelling parents and adults to bring juvenile playing children along with them. There will be a nominal fare for adults, children from 6 to16 are free but in the interest of their safety must be under adult supervision. To gauge numbers, could intending passengers call or text their name and the number in their party to either one of these mobile No.'s 085-1741779 or 087- 7840460 by Saturday at 5.00pm. Community Games Under 10 - Registration for the forth coming U10 Community Games mixed Gaelic football competitions take place on Sunday next at 2.30pm just prior to the intermediate game with Drumhowan.Children participating in the Saturday morningU8/10 coaching programme are asked to attend this registration session. There are however a couple of proviso (1) you must be eligible to participate with Kilmore & Drumsnatt Community games. (2) Participants must be over 7 and under 10 on the 31st July 2007.It's important to note that only those registered can play in the competition, so boys and girls make sure you have your name on that team sheet. There is no coaching session this week-end but will resumes on Sat 24th March at the usual time of 10 o' clock Seans Notes 08-03-07 Results - Intermediate League Corduff 1 - 8 Seans 1 - 4 Fixture - Reserve League Sun 11th March Seans (H) V Oram 3.00 Coaching Sessions - U8/10… Saturday 10.00; U12 Saturday 4.00pm and Tuesday 7.00 U.14 Wednesday 7.00pm; U.16 Thursday 7.00 Minors Monday & Wednesday 8.00pm All squads are reminded to bring indoor (runners etc) and outdoor (tracksuits boots, "wet" gear) to all sessions… Don't forget your own liquid refreshment i.e. water bottle Seniors Panel - On Sunday last the atrocious weather conditions at Corduff were far from conducive to good football and despite holding the home side scoreless for the last twenty minutes, our lads were never able to overhaul them. Corduff opened the scoring in the third minute and dominated the early exchanges but didn't add to their tally until the twelfth minute. Seans attacks in this period were few, and our big band of supporters had to wait until the seventeenth minute for James Treanor to raise our first white flag. Corduff responded adding two more points, Mark Keogh our net minder being called on several times to thwart the onslaught. In an all to rare movement involving Conor Connolly Emylin Clerkin and Noel Rice the latter releasing Treanor who took on his man, hit a pile driver which ricocheted of a defender into the Corduff net and we were back in the match. But our joy was short lived as Corduff from the resultant kick-out bagged a three pointer of their own despite the best efforts of goalkeeper Keogh to leave the half time score Corduff 1- 4 Seans 1 - 1. In the second half Corduff where first to raise a flag, Derek Mc Mahon cancelled that out with a thirty metre free, but by the twelfth minute Corduff had added three more point to complete their scoring tally. From there to the finish both sides were wasteful our lads particularly so, Derek Mc Mahon did reduce the deficit when he landed two frees one from long range and the other from the twenty metre line but it wasn't enough to change the outcome or the result The team on duty was Mark Keogh, Conor Connolly, Michael Mc Guinness, Damien Connolly, Fintan Mc Kenna, Patrick Kieran, Martin Kieran, Emylin Clerkin, Derek Mc Mahon, Barry Mc Guinness, Paul Mc Phillips, Noel Rice, James Treanor, Mark Mc Entee, Andrew Sherry. Subs used Nigel Mc Quillan, Eamonn Mc Quillan, and James Murphy Training as usual Tuesday and Friday night 8.00pm sharp. Gala Banquet - Little over a week to go to our gala banquet on Sunday 18th March.Anyone requiring tickets for what is sure to be a very enjoyable night should contact a member of the committee. This is an occasion to celebrate the vibrancy of our club, and acknowledge the contribution made by so many people over the years, on this occasion it’s the men of '67.We look forward to seeing a big attendance of young and old as this is a function for everyone to enjoy. Don't miss it! Membership Subscription - Don't forget club membership subscriptions are now due, the €10 fee should be paid to club registrar Ciaran Mc Entee. I would asked all who intend renewing their subscription to make contact with Ciaran as soon as possible. Juvenile Coaching Sessions - To emphasise again the weekly schedule for juvenile coaching sessions. All our under age squads are now active, members of each panel should note the time and day of their particular session. It is important too that they bring indoor and outdoor training gear not forgetting their own liquid refreshments to each session. U8 & 10's Saturday mornings 10.00am: Under12 Saturday 4.00pm and Tuesday 7.00pm. U14 Wednesday 7.00pm: U16 Thursday 7.00pm: U18 Monday and Wednesday 8.00pm Details of mentors next week. Totto - 3,5,4,1,6,7,2. were the numbers drawn last week; no one correctly forecast this sequence. The €40 winner was Sean Murphy Tirnaneil. €20 went to Philomena Duffy Cabra, Maureen Rooney Roslea, Card players Noel Clerkin & Patsy Mc Carron, Sharon Carville C'blaney, and Felix Treanor Nart, next weeks jackpot is €2300. Scór - Our representatives in Ardaghey Community centre on Friday night last had no joy in the county final of Scór. Despite this, the club very much appreciate the excellent efforts of all involved on the night. Support - Well done to our large contingent of supporters who braved the elements to give encouragement to our senior team in Corduff on Sunday last. Although the result went south, their loyalty to the team is something else, and is epitomise by octogenarian Francie Mc Elvaney who has started this footballing year much the same as every other, in Corduff last Sunday, but then again Francie rarely misses any club matches even juvenile ones. Development - The due date for beginning construction on terracing the hillside embankment is fast approaching, and weather permitting Gerry Lynch tells us everything is on target and we should see action on this front over the coming weeks. Lost & Found - The dressing rooms and wider complex facility regularly resembles a pawnshop there are that many clothing items left unclaimed. This week we would like to return to the owner, a ladies watch found in the car park, if anyone is missing this time piece contact your truly. Interesting Match - For those who get the notes on our website http://www.seanmcdermotts.net there’s an interesting game being played at TMH on Wednesday 7th at 1.30 when Omagh take on St Pats Armagh in the replay of their Mc Rory Cup semi-final. The winners of course play St Macartans on March 19th in Casement Park. Seans Notes 01-03-07 Fixture - Intermediate League: Sun 4th March: Corduff V Seans (A) 3.00pm Coaching Sessions - U8/10… Saturday 10.00; U12 Saturday 4.00pm; U.14 Friday 7.00pm; Minors Monday & Wednesday 8.00pm All squads are reminded to bring indoor (runners etc) and outdoor (tracksuits boots, "wet" gear) to all sessions… Don't forget your own liquid refreshment i.e. water bottle Seniors Panel - The senior team manager and his selectors are asking their charges to work very hard at their Friday night sessions and the lads are responding well. On Sunday although short a few regulars they had another tough exercise when they entertained Currin at TMH. In a highly competitive encounter our lads ended up on the wrong side of a Seans 1 - 6 Currin 3 - 7 score line. Next Sunday they begin their Intermediate League campaign when they travel to Corduff for a 3 o' clock start. Never an easy venue to get points from, this visit will be no different and our boys will have to be at their very best if the are to pillage the points and get their quest for the Vincent Mc Aviney Cup of to a good start. Training as usual Friday night 8.00pm sharp. All are asked to make a big effort to be present. Bowls - Our bowling squad claimed both the League and Cup titles last week, on Tuesday night in Tullycorbet they over came Clontibret in the deciding end of their Milk Cup clash to lift that trophy. Without throwing a bowl on Thurs night the League crown was added when results went their way in the last round of games in this year's programme. This is a first for the club and a great achievement for everyone involved especially their inspirational "team captain" Frank Mc Cabe. Frank has been fixture co-ordinator, motivator, and the man who has done most to keep the bowling wing of the club going since they first took to the mats over 15 years. But he is the first to admit that this year's success was down to a massive team effort. For the record the league and cup teams were selected from Gerard Mc Entee, Patrick Mc Elvaney, Larry Mc Connon Seamus Mc Connon, James Coyle, Padraig Greenan, Francis Mc Cabe (Jnr). Frank Mc Connon, Jimmy Murphy, P.J. Mc Elvaney and Frank Mc Cabe (Snr). Hopefully this is a good omen for the rest of the year, and can be replicated by our footballer, in truth we'd settle for one of these trophies sitting on our sideboard come end of season, but for our bowlers the season is not over yet as they are still out almost nightly participating in tournament competitions Gala Banquet - Tickets are available for our Gala Banquet on Sunday18th March sales are going well and demand is brisk, but for those who haven't got their feet under a table yet, contact any member of the committee who will willing solve that problem. This is sure to be a night not to be missed, as Shane Farrell and Sean Grant from St Michael's and St Mary's National Schools, (footballs on the way to both schools) correctly identified. Mickey Moran Derry is our special guest, just to be in his company, not to mention the cuisine, the music, and of course our own local hero's the men of '67 need I say more Membership Subscription - Membership renewal subscriptions are now due. The €10 fee should be paid to club registrar Ciaran Mc Entee as soon as possible. Those who have allowed their membership to lapse and/or new members should complete an application form and return it to club secretary Sean Mc Elvaney directly or via any committee member for ratification at an executive meeting. Only paid up members are allowed vote at annual or special meetings. Playing members must have their subscription paid before participating in club games Under10 - Apologies to parents and young participants who may not have received notice of the change to our usual schedule last Saturday, sorry for any inconvenience caused. The troops who did travel to Omagh had a very enjoyable morning watching St Macartan's play some delightful football to book a Mc Rory Cup final place in Casement Park on Monday 19th March. They were particularly vocal when their coach "wee" Patrick Kieran was introduced. Pat helped his team move up a gear in the closing stages; his arrival into the fray coincided with a glorious scoring purple patch, which saw The Sem pulled away for a comprehensive victory. Our young charges did have a bit of a fright as they came under scrutiny not from the security forces but from the sights of a neighbouring unit. No evasive action was necessary, but at the interval some good humoured friendly fire was exchanged with this outfit, and despite rumours to the contrary all our personnel did returned safely to barracks. Minors - Winners make commitment; Losers make promises. It is obvious what our minor squad want to be. They decided at their meeting on Sunday night last they were going to give serious commitment to preparations for this years competition. Twice weekly sessions on Monday and Wednesday night were agreed, starting time is 8.00 sharp. Those eligible and not present on Sunday night will get one invitation call to joint the squad, hopefully all will accept. Squad members are reminded again to bring their own water bottles, indoor, and our door training gear to these hourly sessions. Totto - Numbers drawn last week were 1,2,3,4,7,6,5. There were no correct forecasts; next weeks jackpot is €2200. Eoghan Lynch Kildare was the €40 winner. The €20 went to Louise Hagan Gortnana, Betty Farnan Braddox, Elizabeth Prunty Cabra, Rose Hasting Stonebridge, and Noel Mc Elvaney Cooldaragh. Scór - Our representatives taking part in Solo singing and Question time are wished all the best in the County Final of Scór on Friday night next in Ardaghey. The programme is due to commence at 8.30pm and although Scór has lost some of its appeal here in the county a fantastic nights entertainment is still guaranteed, support for this event and for John and our master minds in particular would be much appreciated. Sympathy - Sincerest sympathy is extended to the Mc Guinness family on the death of Bridget Mc Guinness Aughnamallagh, to Rose Mc Mahon on the death of her sister Julia May Murtagh England, and to the Freeman family on the death of Jimmy Freeman Magherarney. Go ndeana Dia trócaire ar a n-anamacha. Juvenile Coaching - The Under 12 squad have their first coaching session on Saturday afternoon at 4 o' clock, while the under 14's shake of the winter cobwebs on Friday night at 7 o' clock Sessions will start sharp at the appointed time and both will run for an hour and fifteen-minute. Seans Notes 23-02-07 Seniors Panel - The senior squad had their first collective get together on Friday night last, a tough session by all accounts. Good to see the young kids already putting it up to the old hands, but the old brigade are not ready to give up their places or throw in the towel just yet. In fact this bit of early pressure has had the desired effect manager Mc Geehan was hoping for. A few hooded figures, not unusual around our locale but this time suspected over 25's already putting in an extra effort alone and under the cover of darkness; none though were prepared to admit to any extra training activity. Lads; Id be taking no chances; do a bit on your own just to keep pace with the early risers in the panel it could pay dividends later in the year. They also had a stern run out against Redhills on Sunday last, and although it finished 1 - 8 to 3 -10 in favour of the visitors it was a good opportunity for the manager to cast his eye over some of the younger members of the squad. Training as usual Friday night 8.00pm sharp. Well done to Patsy Prunty who made his debut as a referee in this game, and equipped himself very well. Gala Banquet - As mentioned last week the '67 team are guests at our18th March Gala Banquet. Coming too, is one of the most genuine GAA personalities one could ever hope to meet, a real gentleman. He was coach to his native Ulster County, when they lifted their first and only All Ireland Senior Football title back in the early 90's. He was back in the All Ireland Final last year when Kerry put the side he managed then to the sword. Know who he is? Course you do, and we will be delighted and pleased to welcome him to the Complex in mid March. For the children of St Michael's N.S. Corcaghan and St Mary's N.S.Threemilehouse there is an opportunity to win an O' Neills football for your school. All you have to do is email your name, class, school, and of course our guests name to pro@seanmcdermotts.net First correct entry submitted picks up that prize. Tickets for what is sure to be a very enjoyable night can be had from any executive committee member. Life Presidents - At our annual meeting recently two very loyal and long serving members of the club were elevated to the position of life presidents. They join a small elite and august group who are the clubs standard bearers, their exalted status, recognition of their exceptional contribution to Cumman Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada. The latest additions to this echelon are PJ Murphy, and Brian Sherdian. Pictorial evidence admittedly black and white exists verifying PJ's involvement in football in the parish several years before our club came into existence, it was only natural that in '61 he threw his considerable know how behind the new club. His tenure since then as a member of the executive committee has been unrivalled up to last year when he handed the baton to next generation…son Enda. Brian's involvement with the Seans began shortly after his return from England in the late '60's he too has been an almost ever present member of the executive holding the position of vice chairman for much of that time. Always in pole position especially in the fund raising stakes PJ set very high targets. Targets few in the club could match, but that never stopped them trying, trying to knock him of his perch as cock of the walk. Never one to crow, (WHAT! I hear his card playing cronies cry) well; maybe a wee bit, especially if he had pulled the rabbit out of the hat while the hat was on another committee man head. But PJ has many more stings to his bow than just good sales patter, as all who know him well will readily testify and the club are the beneficiary of many of the arrows released from his quiver. Brian's experience has stood the club in good stead too especially during the construction of the Complex back in the late '80 and it's no surprise that both men are pictured at the "foundation laying ceremony" this time in glorious Kodax colour. But it is his humour, wit, and unwavering dependability that has endeared Brian to so many in the club over the past forty years or so. That reliability and punctuality shows no signs of waning and with the odd "cracker" and "lovely jubbley" thrown in, his enthusiasm is rubbing off on a whole new generation of club workers. Words don't do justice to the debt we owe you and our other Life Presidents for dedication and commitment to the cause, but hopefully the accolade of a Life Presidentship is an indication of the esteem your are all held in by our membership. PJ and Brian your reward is well earned. Congratulations. Advertising Hoarding - Minister for receipts, revenues, and rewards Mary Mc Connon is on the warpath, a one-woman posse in hot pursuit of annual subscriptions due in respect of advertising signs placed around Pairc Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada. Mary herself doesn't like suprises that have a negative effect on the club's bank balance. She has asked me therefore to give advance notice to all the business people who read this column and have generously supported pitch side advertisement, you can expect a telephone or personal call from Mary over the coming weeks. She has already issued some warrants and hopes with the aid of a few deputies to have the roundup complete before the arrival of the first visiting teams to our headquarters. Membership Subscription - Kieran Mc Entee is also trying to coral as many members' as possible for membership renewal fees before the deadline date of the end of March. New members are always welcome but they like lapse members must make written application. It's important that playing members have their subscription paid before competitions begins this is to comply with insurance regulations. Simply put no membership fee no insurance cover. Under10 - Usual coaching for these youngsters on Saturday morning 10.00 to 11.15am.Once children celebrate their 6th birthday they are welcome to attend. All families residing in the parish or sending their children to St Michael's or St Mary's National Schools are encouraged to avail of these coaching sessions. Minors - A meeting for this year's minor squad takes place on Sunday 25th February at 7.00pm in the complex. Everyone eligible i.e. under 15's and older are asked to attend. It's important that all on the panel have their say on how they want to prepare for the season ahead, but you will only have an imput into that decision if you attend this meeting. Totto - No one correctly forecast the numbers drawn last week 2,3,7,4,6,5,1.Eugene Connolly Carnbane, claimed the €40 prize. €20 went to Michael Smith Newbliss, D Mc Clelland Monaghan, Breda Mc Connon, Killaclay, Emma Mc Veigh Drumuck, and John Mc Elvaney, Drumguill.Remember there are big savings to be had by pre paying monthly or annually. Bowls - Currently sitting top of the table, our representatives are still in the dark regarding the destiny of this year's league trophy. Cootehill the only side in with a chance of wrestling the title from their grasp, must take more than six points from their match with Roslea deferred until tonight (Thur) to do that. I suspect there will be a few anxious phone calls made later on, to find out if celebrations can begin. Seans Notes 16-02-07 Seniors Panel - The senior squad had a very strenuous two-hour fitness test on Wednesday evening last. Their level of speed, flexibility, strength and endurance came under scrutiny during the test. At the end there were no Indians but plenty of pale faces, the effort to impress the manager and the recording selectors obviously taking its toll. Baza aka Barry Mc Guinnes led the field in most disciplines but many of his team mates put that down to his superior footwear rather than his fitness level; me thinks signs of the green eyed monster here lads. Martin Kieran was a lonesome figure at the end of the endurance test storming ahead to win by the proverbial mile. Manager Tom Mc Geehan was reasonably pleased with how the lads wintered, but when individual test results are to hand, he plans to develop personal fitness programmes for each panel member- just a tad different to my day! The squad's first collective get together is on Friday night at 8.00pm sharp, bring indoor and outdoor gear please. Gala Banquet - Tickets for our banquet night on 18th March will be available very soon, and can be had by contacting any executive committee member. This year's local guests of honour are from forty year ago, the history making '67 team. Most TG are all hale and hearty and a few would still not be afraid to take the auld fitness test. Its great to be able to honour and fete these men who did so much to establish the Seans as a footballing force back when the club was only in its infancy. The 67-69 squad changed very little over those years so we hope to see not only the '67 team there but all panellists from that era. Details on our national celebrity guest next week. Coaching Course - The club was well represented in St Macartan's College at the child protection presentation last week. It is hoped that those who attended will all be in a position to put this knowledge, and their collective shoulders to our juvenile bandwagon when it starts to roll in earnest over the coming weeks. Enda is presently fitting the spokes and wheels to that wagon so that it will stay the distance over the long juvenile playing term, which this year will run from March to October. The Foundation Level course deferred from last week-end has been reconvened for next Saturday again in St. Macartan's College starting time is 9.30am.I would encourage everyone interested in staying on, or intending to join our under age coaching panel to attend this course if they have not already done so. Referee Seminar - For our men in black wee reminder don't forget Cloghan tonight (Thur) at 8.30 for the whistlers get together. Previous presentations have been both enjoyable and informative and with John Gough (Antrim) tonight's guest speaker this one is sure to be no different. Definitely a must for all referees, even club officials could learn a thing or two by being in the audience. Well Man Clinic - Also tonight in Monaghan Harps centre is a new initiative on the part of the Ulster Council to promote good health among its adult members. In partnership with The Ulster Cancer Foundation, the night will consist of general health advice as well as practical tips to prevent and detect Cancer. Starting time is 7 o' clock. Membership Subscription - Time is running out for renewing membership subscriptions, playing members have only a couple of weeks left to pay up. To comply with insurance regulations players must have their subscriptions paid before they can play competitively. If rumours are right this years first competitive games are scheduled for 4th March. Registrar Kieran Mc Entee will be delighted to accept any and all €10 subscriptions. £ingo - If all proposed development is commenced never mind completed in the coming year there will be a serious financial strain on club coffers; a simple and effective way to reduce that strain is by supporting our weekly Monday night £ingo sessions. What many may not realise is that there is guarantee give away each night of over €3000, plus substantial jackpot prizes also up for grabs. If you have a couple of hours free on Monday night why not come along, have an enjoyable night out, and support the club in the process. Under10 - Not that there is any need to remind them but coaching as usually inside on Saturday mornings at 10 o'clock. Totto - The numbers drawn this week were.7, 6,1,2,3,4,5, there were no correct forecasts to claim the €1900 prize on offer. The €40 winner was Enda Murphy Togan. €20 went to Eileen Kelly Aghabog, Jimmy Mc Gorman Moys Clontibret, Ornagh Smith Newbliss, Mick Mc Elvaney Threemilehouse, and Margaret & Marcella Smithboro. As this weekly social members draw is our main source of income our financial controller Mary Mc Connon is always interested in recruiting new promoters, and improving weekly sales if you can help even in a small way give her or any executive member a call. Reminder to regular weekly subscribers there are big discounts available for advanced monthly or annual payments. Bowls - Our bowling squad of Frank Mc Cabe, Frank Mc Cabe (jnr) Gerard Mc Entee, James Coyle, Patrick Mc Elvaney, P.J Mc Elvaney, and Jimmy Murphy will have to wait 'till next weekend to see if the six points they secured last Sunday night against Ardaghey will be enough to see them top the table. Having finished runner-up on a few previous occasions they will be anxiously awaiting the outcome of the other title contenders (Cootehill's) game with Roslea to see if they have amassed enough points to finally lift the league trophy for the first time. On Tuesday 20th they have a Milk Cup final date with Clontibret in Tullycorbet, we wish them well in both competitions. Website - For all up to the minute news might I suggest a visit to our web site is a must. www.seanmcdermotts.net We are indebted to web master Adrian Mc Entee for his constant updates the most recent, photographs from that fitness test. Club members and supporters, who were unable to attend the AGM, can now view the various reports presented on the night, as they too are also available on the website. Sympathy - The club extends deepest sympathy to the Tierney family Tatinaclave on the death of Bridget Tierney, and to the Thornton family Nart on the death of Catherine Thornton, May they rest in peace. Seans Notes 9-02-07 Seniors Squads - Manager Tom Mc Geehan and his selectors met with the players on Friday night last to plan their strategy for this year's campaign. There was a very good attendance, many new young faces, frank discussions, and an air of optimism that the intermediate team could improve on last years league position. Success at first team level is very much determined by the effort of the "second string", as exemplified last year, so much so that the manager will have some serious calls to make as he decides on this years first team formation. Securing a place in that line-up is very much down to each player, even the boys on the third team if serious about playing cannot be ruled out. Its over to you lads, good luck and know that everybody's behind you. Remembrance Sunday 12th February is Remembrance Day in the club, we pray for all living and deceased members on Sunday morning in St Mary's Church Threemilehouse at 11 o' clock mass. Gala Banquet - That dynamic duo Danny and Sean aka Cathoirleach agus an Runaí have already plans at an advanced stage for this year's banquet, it's going to be bigger and better than last year; is that possible! Suffice to say at this stage pencil Sunday 18th March into your diary. Sandwiched between two bank holidays what more could one ask: Preparation day, Celebration day: Recovery day. Tickets available shortly but more anon. Cabinet reshuffle - At the recent AGM under the new club constitution adopted last year; only the principal officers were elect. An Cathoirleach has reshuffled his backbenchers. Enda Murphy is promoted to Chairperson of the Youth committee, Nigel Lynch's prowess with a pen has been recognised and he has been installed as secretary to that body. Another dynamic duo in the making, charged with developing the most important section in the club, we can look forward to the unbridled exuberance and enthusiasm of youth with these two lads at the helm. Over the coming days Enda will be scrutinising CV's as he puts his administration and coaching jigsaw together, anyone interested in becoming involved in our youth setup should contact Enda for inclusion in that jigsaw. Cormac Connolly has been striped of the youth portfolio but in an obvious conciliatory gesture has been handed public relations. Surviving the shake-up are long time club servant Gerry Lynch who retains his Development brief, but only because he convinced the Boss that the first phase of pitch side construction was on schedule to definitely commence in early March… we'll wait and see. Another survivor retaining his dual outgoing brief of team selector and executive liaison officer is Colm Mc Mahon but he too will be hoping that the commitment promised on Friday night is delivered on, and will be enough to see him trough the full term. Coaching Course - St Macartan's College is the venue tomorrow night (Fri) for a two-hour child protection presentation commencing at 7.00; Juvenile coaches must have child protection certificates. The foundation course begins on Saturday morning at 9.30 and is scheduled to wind up around 4pm.Those interested in attending should contact Sean Mc Elvaney or Enda Murphy. Referee Seminar - A referee's seminar is scheduled for Cloghan on Thursday 15th February at 8.30pm. Much has been written and conveyed to clubs about the urgent need to recruit new referees, as there is a serious shortage. This year severe sanctions are on the cards for having no referee---Loss of home games. Attendance at this get together will be an instant gauge of reliability and commitment so all our men in black are encouraged not to miss this one, to do so will have serious implications for our home matches. Membership Subscription - Are now due and club registrar Ciaran Mc Entee will willingly accept cash, cheque, or card payments, but what would please him most is if members would actually come to him with their subscriptions. Despite the hat his impersonation of Dick Turpin at this time of year is wearing thin. £ingo - The complex is the place to be on Monday nights where there is a guarantee give-away of over €3000 in regular prizes plus current jackpot prizes of 1K and almost 6K also on offer to some lucky punter. The club very much appreciates the support of all our regular £ingo patrons, and appeals and encourages new players especially those residing in the parish to come along, meet the neighbours, have an adrenaline rush as you add to your bank balance, and support the club in the process. Think about it and try it for one night you just might enjoy it! Why not come along to our Valentine session on Monday night next with spot prizes galore on every page. Under10 - Coaching for this squad has resumed on Saturday mornings at 10 o'clock, and with Community Games football not too far away it important that all eligible under 10's attend. To compete in the CG competition children must be under 10 on 31st July and also reside within the parish Totto - This weeks No. sequence of 6,7,2,4,5,1,3, was not matched. €40 went to Eugene Connolly Carnbane, while Treasa Mullarkey, Knockatallon, Phylis Mc Guigan Mullinahinch, Philomena Duffy Cabra, Mary Mc Ardle Tullygillen and Kathleen Leonard Smithboro all received €20. Envelopes are widely available for this weekly draw and there are great discounts to be had for advanced monthly or annual payments. Bowls - It's down to the wire on the mats this week to determine the destiny of the league trophy with one game remaining our squad and Cootehill are tied on 68 pts each. Frank Mc Cabe, Frank Mc Cabe (jnr) Gerard Mc Entee, James Coyle, Patrick Mc Elvaney, P.J Mc Elvaney, and Jimmy Murphy have a very tricky assignment next Sunday night when Ardaghey are visitors to the complex. With home advantage they should take enough points to see them through to lift the trophy but they will know that much will depend on the outcome of Cootehill's visit to Roslea. Good luck lads. Allianz NFL Cork V Kerry - There was a very partisan northern contingent in our social centre for the historic meeting of Dublin and Tyrone last Saturday evening. This week I expect the clubs one very staunch Kingdom supporter to be outnumbered as last week red handers turn rebel just for the hell of it, turnstiles open at 7.00 come early to get the best seats in the house throw in.'s at 7.30 New arrival - We sent congratulations to Boston, Mass. USA and former club stalwart Tony Murphy and wife Jess on the arrival of their baby daughter recently. If dad's as good at carrying the baby as he was with the ball then little Isobel is in very safe hands.
