Adult squad
The Junior Football.League table make interesting reading; Cremartin are out in front on 17 pts, our boys along with Toome hold joint third place on 14pts while Clones with an extra game played are a point ahead in second spot, and Corduff just one point adrift are in fifth position. It appears at this stage competition for semi-final places will be among these teams. But with a possible 14 league point still up for grab all that could change before we reach the business end of the season. On Wednesday night 28th to keep pace with their top four rivals our boys have to negotiate a very tricky assignment when they travelled to Killanny to play an improving Geraldine side. Their next outing after the break is likely to be their back door championship clash with near neighbours Killeevan.

Our "C" although ending up on the wrong side of the result were involved in a high scoring and entertaining game on Friday night last at TMH when they Toome were visitors to TMH. On Saturday evening next with home advantage they play Emyvale at 7.30pm, with only a few game remaining in this RFL division 4 competition they will still be hoping they can improve their league table position, a victory would see them do that and leapfrog the opposition in the process. On Friday evening the "B" squad play their final game of the season in the RFL Division 3 competition against table toppers Ballybay. It's doubtful even with home advantage if our boys can overcome the league leaders but I would expect they'll give it one hell of a go to finish on a high. Throw in for this one is also 7.30pm.

U16 Play off
On Thursday evening at 7.00pm in Rockcorry Seans and Latton go head to head in a play off for a place in the last four of the Under 16 division 2 competition. This promises to be an enthralling encounter if their original league meeting is anything to go by. In that one our boys were in front right from the throw in but a late late rally by the O Rallaigh youngsters swung the game in their favour. The squad have had a couple of intense coaching sessions in recent days and although some doubt exist over the availability of Kevin Mc Mahon because of a nasty arm injury, the management team are confident they will have an otherwise full panel to select their starting 13 from.
Panellists are Conor Freeman, Ryan Mc Guinness, Dwyane Mc Caffrey, Colin Mc Elvaney, Conor Kearns, David Mc Kenna, James Mc Aleer, Conor Mc Elroy, Sean Freeman, Daniel Mc Carron, Luke Killoran, Kevin Mc Mahon Shane Farrell, Pierce Murphy, Mathew Mc Guirk, Dara Bell, Ronan O Reilly, Enda Connolly.

Under 14
Our under 14 squad have a couple of very important matches this week on Tuesday night they travelled to Magheracloone and on Saturday they play Carrickmacross in the last league game of the competition. Both are must win game if they are to secure home advantage for their shield semi-final game. All support would be welcome in TMH on Saturday at 12.00.

Totto
The numbers drawn out 4,2,6,8,7,5,3,1, last Monday night for a jackpot prize of €7,000 were not correctly forecast. Sympathy.
At this weeks club meeting a vote of sympathy were extended to Emlyn Clerkin and the Clerkin family on the death of his grandmother Florence Mc Collom Drumkeen Aghabog; and to the Mc Elroy and Mc Mahon families on the death of Eamonn Mc Mahon Tattinadonagh Ballinode. May they rest in peace.

Adult squad
Just the one game for our adult squad this week in the Reserve League Division 4 competition on Friday night in TMH the "C" squad entertain Toome at 8 o' clock. Hopefully we will see a bigger attendance of players at this one than was witnessed for their last outing in Currin, where lack of numbers resulted in the concession of the points not to mention the club also incurred a €100 fine for our failing to field, a deduction we could well do without. Can I appeal to all panel members to make themselves available on Friday night and avoid a repeat of their previous outing.

Minor
Our Minor squad in the Division 2 Minor Football League had a comfortable win over visitors Emerald Sarsfields last week, this wek the have Donaghmoyne as visitors to TMH for their championship quarter final clash. They will be optimistic and confident that they can progress to a semi-final spot given that they have already comfortably accounted for the same opposition recently in their league meeting, but the Fontonoys's in the championship are a different proposition and our boys could well be in for a disappointing surprise, if they fail to give this encounter their full attention. They have a bye in the league competition next week.

Totto
The numbers drawn out 5,7,3,2,4,1,,8,6, last Monday night for a jackpot prize of €6,900 were not correctly forecast. A very enjoyable week is guaranteed not to be missed.

All Ireland Qualifier Ticket distribution.
Ticket ordered for the All Ireland qualifier game against Kildare in Croke Park on Saturday next will be distributed in the complex on Friday night from 9.00 to 10.00pm. Club secretary Sean Mc Elvaney via the texting service has done his very best to alert Club members to the deadline around ordering tickets, and he ask your continued co-operation in collecting any tickets ordered. Hopefully despite the disappointing performance in Clones last Sunday we will still see a big band of local support travelling to Croker to give the boys the encouragement they now need.
Despite last Sunday's hiccup their dedication and commitment to Monaghan's cause very much deserves our continuing support, we certainly wish them well and very much hope get their game back on track.

Get well wishes
We send get well wishes for a speedy recovery to Eunan Mc Entee. Eunan sustained a serious accidental leg injury in Clontibret on Friday night last necessitating a stay in hospital. Eunan who was in fine form catching the eye repeatedly around the middle of the field will be a big loss to the senior panel. We hope his absence will be short and that he will quickly return to full health.

Adult squad
With all eyes firmly focus on the outcome of the Ulster final next Sunday in Clones there is little activity on the games front for our first team at the moment. The emphasis has now shifted to reserve league competitions, our "C" squad travelled to Currin on Wednesday night; while out the "B" panel make the journey to O'Neill park Clontibret for a joust with the locals in the reserve league division 3 competition on Friday night. Currently sitting in fifth position with two round of games remaining against Clontibret and Ballybay they will have to pull out all the stops if they are to get anything out of these two tough encounters if they are to stand any chance of squeezing themselves into a qualifying semi-final spot. A full round of star game are listed for Wed 21st July but our boys have a bye on this particular date.

Minor
Our Minor squad on Tuesday night in the division 2 championship had to with stand a late rally form Monaghan Harps to secure passage to the next round of the competition. Our boys leading by ten points with as many minutes remaining hadn't counted on the town side ramming in three goals in quick succession, but to their credit they rallied to stem the green tide and landed a few good scores of their own to secure victory in a highly entertaining game on a final score of Harp 3-8 Seans 3-12.

This week in league action they play Emerald Sarsfields at TMH on Tuesday night and on Tue 20th July they have home advantage for the quarter final championship pairing with Donaghmoyne throw in time for both game is 8.00pm

Ulster Final Ticket distribution.
Ticket ordered for the Ulster Final will be distributed in the complex on Friday night from 9.00 to 11.00pm. Such has been the demand for tickets, clubs have been advised that their requested allocation of family ticket will not be completely filled, at time of going to press we don't know the extend of that short fall. Suffice to say our secretary Sean will do his level best as he always does to satisfy demand but please don't shoot the messenger on Friday night if your allocation is not up to expectation. He can only distribute as can county committee personnel only what is allocated to them from the Ulster Council. But hopefully everyone who wants to be in St Tiernach Park Clones on Sunday will be armed with an admission ticket of some hue.

Best Wishes
All our good wishes for a successful outcome to Sunday encounter with Tyrone goes to Banty and his squad, roll on Sunday then and Monaghan Ulster Champions 2010!

Adult squad
Our adult squad will want to forget an abysmal second half performance in their Junior football championship quarter final clash with Cremartin last Sunday, a meagre one point return in those thirty minutes was not enough to prevent them ending up on the wrong side of a 0 - 9 to 0 -8 score line. Having led at the break by three points they looked well placed with a cross-field breeze also in their favour to forge ahead. That expect push never materialised instead it was the opposition and their dominant midfield who virtually laid siege to the Seans goal in that second half as they set about overhauling the interval deficit, and but for some wayward finishing the margin of victory could have been greater. Only defenders Noel Rice, Philip Farrell and full forward Damien Larkin showing glimpses of their true ability. No doubt manager Gary Larkin and his selectors were as bemused and disappointed by this uncharacteristic collapse as the big contingent of travelling supporters, but with some time before the next outing in this competition one can be assured he will be investing time and energy to insure this outfit still has a say on the destiny of the 2010 Junior championship. The have little time to lick their wounded pride as the play Blackhill on Wednesday night in the Junior football league at TMH at 8.00pm, this game was originally scheduled for Friday evening but was brought forward at Blackhill's request.

Our "B" squad with home advantage opened smartly on Wednesday night last when they entertained Castleblayney's third string in the semi final of the Crawley cup competition at TMH. Although our boys were quickly out of the blocks and raced into a commanding lead it was the experience and staying power of the visitors that finally yielded dividends, firstly chipping away that lead to force the game into extra time and in those additional minutes doing enough to earn a place in the final by the slenderists of margins Seans 1 -11 Castleblayney 1-12

Minor
Our minor squad on resumption of the league competition last week had a very comfortable win over Donaghmoyne. On Tuesday night they opened their championship campaign against Monaghan Harps in Rooskey where they will be hoping they can produce a similar result as in their league meeting at the same venue a few week ago, but with doubts over Mark Mc Guigan's availability due to a leg injury and a couple other niggling injuries our boys will have to be up for this one if they are to progress to first round proper of this competition.

Totto
The numbers drawn out 7,6,2,8,3,5,1,4 last Monday night for a jackpot prize of €6,700 were not correctly forecast. Next week's jackpot €6,700.

Adult squad
Our adult squad make the short journey to Rooskey Monaghan to renew rivalry with Cremartin in the quarter final of the Junior Football Championship on Sunday evening next at 7.30pm. These side met in the league last week with Cremartin shading that one by a couple of points, a number of uncharacteristic error in our defence on that occasion presenting goal chances which were duly availed off by a clinical Cremartin attack. In training this week manager Gary Larkin will be working hard to eliminate these type of lapses for Sunday encounter, and with a number of absentee from that league fixture to be added to the panel, our supporters will be hopeful that if they produce the form they are capable off they can overcome Cremartin this time round and book a championship semi-final place in the process.

Our "B" squad progressed to the semi final of the McKenna Agri Spares Crawley Cup reserve knock out competition by virtue of a solitary one point victory over Scotstown last week. On Wednesday night they played Castleblayney at TMH to see who goes forward to meet Aughnamullen in the Final. Our boys will have to produce another high level performance if they are to overcome the Faughs. Hopefully the rich vein of form that saw Sean Mc Crudden hit 2 -3 of his team's total against Scotstown will still be in evidence and with Philip Farrell, Daire Freeman and Eamonn Mc Quillan also playing some of their best football for the club in recent weeks there is every reason to believe this panel are in with a shout to book that coveted final place.

Minor & U16
Minor and under 16 action resumes this week. Our minor squad had a tough assignment travelling to Donaghmoyne to take on the Foyntonoys on Tuesday evening. While next week in the preliminary round of the Division 2 Minor football championship they travel to Monaghan to take a Harp side that will no doubt be hoping they can reverse the result of their earlier league encounter. Throw in time on both dates is 8.00pm. Action for the U16's also resumes on Thursday night with a visit to Cremartin.

They kept that unbeaten record in tacked on the night when they had four points to spare over final opponent Truagh. The panel was Dylan Mc Nally, Ryan Mc Entee, Niall Murphy, Niall Kearns, and Adam O' Driscoll, Jamie Keenan, Aidan Ward, and Ryan Hughes.

JFC Seans 0-11 Corduff 0-12

Adult squad
Last Wednesday night obviously still suffering the effect of their championship endeavour an under strength adult squad produced a lifeless first half performance against visitors Corduff and were eight point adrift at half time in this Junior football league clash. All that changed however as they staged a second half revival that surprised and delighted the home supporters. Not only did they erase the interval deficit but went ahead with only minutes remaining; but the visitor showed their mettle, tagging on two late point to break the hearts of the partisan home crowd who had thought their team had done just about enough to claim at least a share of the spoils. Final score Seans 0- 11 Corduff 0 -12.

On Friday night next they have a rehearsal of their championship encounter when they travel to Cremartin to take on the Shamrock in Round 12 of the junior football league. No doubt both camps will have at least one eye fixed on that 4th July championship meeting, like the opposition our boys will be anxious to give nothing away but they will be keen to claim a couple of league points and maybe gain the psychologically advantage in the process. Throw in for Friday night game is 8.00pm, information around the championship suggests a 7.30pm evening fixture in Monaghan.

The Crawley cup odyssey for our reserve squads continued this week when they travelled to Scotstown on Wednesday night to take on the home side in the quarter final of this reserve knock out competition. They know well that a similar performance to that produced last week in their replay with Killeevan will not be good enough to see them past a useful blues third string, but they are well capable of producing an improved performance and causing an upset in the process.

RFL Div 4 Blackhill 1-13 Seans 0 -5
JFC Seans 1-12 Toome 0 -9

Adult squad
A blistering opening ten minutes which yielded 5 unanswered points was the foundation which saw our first team progress to the second round of the Junior Football championship at the expense of Toome in Ballybay on Sunday last. Toome eventually found their rhythm and battled back to reduced the deficit to a single point; but as the game entered the closing stages a well taken goal by James Treanor all but deflated the Toome comeback and gave our boys the boast needed as they went on to tag on further points to leave the fulltime score Seans 1- 12 Toome 0 -9.
In a good all round team performance the young contingent of Mark Mc Guigan, Paraic Mc Guirk, Noel Rice, Philip Farrell, David Mc Entee, and goal scorer Treanor deserve special mention; Damien Larkin and veteran Paddy Kieran (Sen) also contributed handsomely to the team performance knocking over some delightful scores. By the way; Paddy has been playing first team football for the club since before some of his younger team mates were born, a fact that was mention on Sunday night, and as one would expect drew some wry comments, but these like many an opponent didn't faze the bold Pat.
The team on duty was Mark Keogh, Mark Mc Guigan, Emlyn Clerkin Damien Connolly, Martin Kieran, Padraic Mc Guirk Philip Farrell, Derek Mc Mahon, Noel Rice, Eamonn Mc Quillan, Patrick Kieran (Sen) Sean Mc Crudden, James Treanor, David Mc Entee, and Damien Larkin. Sub used Patrick Kieran for Eamonn Mc Quillan, Shane O Neill for Derek Mc Mahon Nigel Lynch for Patrick Kieran (Sen). See match report elsewhere this issue.

On Tuesday night last at TMH they played Corduff in the Dr Ward Cup despite being short a number of players, some still suffering ill effects from Sunday's encounter; encouraged by that championship performance and with home advantage supporters will be expecting two more points to be added to their league total.

On Wednesday night next the Quarter final of the Crawley and O'Duffy Cups are scheduled but first our boys must overcome Killeevan in their Crawley Cup replay at TMH on Wednesday 16th to insure their name is in the hat when those quarter final draws take place.

Seans Notes 10/06/10

Fixtures
Sun 13th June JFC Seans V Toome Ballybay.3.30pm

Adult squad
Our adult squad face their first real big test of the 2010 season when they travel to Ballybay on Sunday next for their first round junior championship encounter with Toome. As they embark on this years championship trail everyone involved with the panel hope it will end in promotion. Teams operating in junior football will all have similar ambitions and Sunday opponents Toome after last years exploits will require little motivation to go all the way this time round. That’s why our boys will have to play to their very best if they are to progress at the expense of the St Victor outfit.
When last they met a couple of weeks ago the Oisin Mc Conville coached side shaded that league meeting by a single point, but Gary Larkin and his management team have intensified training since that first league defeat. Apart from a couple of niggling injuries to one or two of the panel that will require fitness tests before deciding on the starting fifteen, Gary is hopeful that these will have cleared up and he will have a fully fit panel to choose from. Can I encourage all our supporter to travel to bally on Sunday and give the team every encouragement Throw in is 3.30pm.

Festival & Sports weekend
The dates for the Festival and Sports weekend are changing this year to the June bank holiday …5th - 7th June. Activities begin on Friday night next with a table quiz in the complex commencing at 9.30pm. Quiz master and question setter Sean Mc Elvaney will have a diverse range of topical questions that will no doubt as usual perplex adult and under 16 participants alike. To add additional spice to his brainteasers this year Sean I understand is including"bonus" point questions at the end of each round. This table quiz (table of 4) is always most enjoyable and has over the years attracted regular participants, hopefully we will see those regulars out again as well as additional juvenile and adult players participation. It's likely that the O Malley -McElvaney led quartet with be back on Friday night to defend their title, but I suspect there will be a few other foursomes determined to prevent that and claim that prize for themselves, if you would like to joint the banter and fun, then have your thinking cap on and pens at the ready on Friday night 9.30pm in our social centre.

The clerk of the course will have everything shipshape as he hands over to the starter around 7'o clock on Saturday evening for live horse racing, for what promises to be a really exciting meeting. Bar-B-Q and refreshment stands will be set up close to the finishing post, on course betting is also available Juvenile members are currently trying to find owners and riders for the many thorough bred loose around the parish don’t disappoint them!!!.

Little by way off activity on Sunday as we expect a big contingent of locals will be heading to Casement Park to hopefully see Monaghan over come Armagh in the Ulster Football championship, We wish Banty and the lads well in that one. On return from your travels why not drop down to the club social centre for a relaxing and enjoyable traditional Irish music night courtesy of local musicians and friend, doors open 8.00pm

Monday is sports day with the usual track and field events, side shows and novelties galore, the annual Elco Oils sponsored Under 8 and 10's football game will get under way 4.30pm approx. The festival bingo on Monday night starts as usual at 9 o' clock with spot prizes on every page and the wee jackpot prize of €1000 sure to be claimed soon.

Under 12
Our U12 Div 2 side Rian Connolly, Mark Murphy, Patrick Mc Phillips, Aaron Mc Nally, Martin Mc Guirk, Jason Kearns, Sean Grant, Jack Brennan, Dean Mc Caffrey, Ashley Corrigan, Conor Brenan, showed a big improvement in their performance on Saturday last going under by just 6 point to a useful Clontibret outfit. The improvement on our boy's part can be best gauged when compared with the result of these side first meeting, then the O Neill youngster ran out comfortable and comprehensive winners. A special word of praise to young Conor Brennan who togged out insuring our boy fielded the regulation eleven a side.

The U12 division 5 side also put up a much better performance then in the corresponding game against the same opponents Fergal O Hanlons at TMH some week ago. Although on the wrong side of a 10 point defeat sign of improvement are obvious, the panel on duty were James Clerkin, Conor Mc Mahon, Ryan Mc Elvaney Mark Melvin, Luke Perkins, Fergal Clerkin, Darren Morgan, Oliver MC Clave and Killian Murphy.

Get well Soon
We send get well messages and speedy recovery wishes to Oisin Mc Kenna (Wrist) Damon Hagan (Finger) and Cathal Mc Mahon (knee) all members of our under 12 squad who sustained recent injuries. We hope these will heal quickly and they will be back in action soon.

Crawley Cup
Our reserve squad played out an exciting draw in the their opening round clash with Killeevan in the Crawley Cup in Newbliss on Monday night last. Killeevan 0 - 8 Seans 0 - 8. Supposed to be played to a finish but failing light preventing extra time, they will have to do it all over again later, this time at TMH. Stephen Clerkin and Philip Farrell were in top form in defence up front Shane O Neill and Sean Mc Crudden were the chief scorers, the equalising point coming from the trusty left boot of Nigel Lynch. The team on duty was Murt Cleerem, Donal Mc Guigan, Stephen Clerkin Philip Farrell, Rory Lyden, Damiern Tackney, Eamonn Mc Quillan, John Paul Mc Entee Eunan Mc Entee, Nigel Lynch, Sean Mc Crudden, Darren keeley, Danny Mc Nally, Shane O Neill, Daire Freeman, Conal Mc Crudden for Damien Tackney (injured)

Adult squad
Our adult team added four more valuable points to their league tally last week when they accounted for visitors Oram on Sunday evening and had a goal to spare over neighbours Killeevan on Wednesday night in Newbliss. With their junior football championship game now rescheduled for Sunday 13th June they have little by way of competitive action until that important showdown. In a revised fixture schedule they do have an outing this week when they travel to Toome to take on their championship opponent on Wednesday (26th May) in the first round of star games of the season. These star game rule out county senior panellists playing with their clubs and with Toome's Gavin Flanagan sitting this one out both set of management teams will not read too much into the result. They no doubt will be more interested in getting over that first round championship hurdle in two weeks time.

Both our reserve teams were in action last week end on Saturday evening despite finding the net on four occasion our "C" squad found themselves piped by the minimum of margins by a useful Killanny second string Seans 4 -3 Killanny 2 - 10. The team on duty were Murt Cleere, James Murphy, Stephen Clerkin, Donal Mc Guigan, David Treanor, Conor Connolly, Adrian Mc Carron, John Paul Mc Entee, Eunan Mc Entee, Daire Freeman, Colin Murphy, Adrian Larkin, Fergal Mc Quillan, Gary Larkin, Mathew Mc Crudden, sub used Enda Murphy. On Sunday evening our "B" squad fared a little better when the managed to hold out against an experienced Truagh outfit. Three first half goals from Stephen Mc Elvaney, James Murphy and Nigel Lynch helped propel our boys into a 3 -3 to 1- 4 interval lead, the points from play coming from Eamonn Mc Quillan, Nigel Lynch, and Shane O' Neill. An early second half point from Eunan Mc Entee and a brace from Shane O Neill put more daylight between the sides but Truagh rallied and closed the gap to two point thanks to two well taken goals, that tally of green flags could have been more but for the alertness of Seans net minder Murt Cleere. An inspirational point from Stephen Mc Elvaney help Seans regain some composure from the visitors attacking onslaught, and although they did manage to tag on further points these were cancelled by similar scores from Damien Connolly (F) and Nigel Lynch to leave the final score Seans 2 - 9 Truagh 2 - 9. Star man Eamonn Mc Quillan, with the Mc Entee brother, J.P. and Eunan not far behind.

On Monday night next the combined forces of our reserves squads take on Killeevan in the first round of the reserve knock out competition for the Crawley Cup. Throw in is 8.00pm in Newbliss

U16/Minor
As football take a back seat over the coming weeks our Under 16 and minor squad turn their attention to exams we wish them well in there endeavours. On Sunday last in a rearranged Division 2 minor game at TMH against Carrickmacross both teams playing without their county minor representative. Guilty of some inexcusable first half misses that were to prove very costly in the end, and setting the pace from the throw in our boys were never headed until the final two minutes as the visitor got their noses in front at the right time to clinch two very important league point and leave our boy ruing all the more those gilt edge scoring opportunities in that first half.

U8/10
Our Under 10 brigade took part in a very enjoyable football blitz in Newbliss on Saturday last competing in their section with hosts Killeevan as well as Clones and Fergal O Hanlons The panel who travelled were Fergal Clerkin, James Clerkin, Oliver Mc Clave Shane Mc Clave, Sean Morgan, James Murphy, Killian Murphy, Luke Perkins and Zac Perkins, special mention to the third member of the Perkin brothers young Tim who made a guest appearance in the last game of the session against Clones and netted himself 1 - 1 in the process Pearse Murphy was in action again as a referee and was joint in that discipline in Newbliss by Conor Freeman, well done to both lads who are gaining valuable experienced in the art of refereeing at these football blitz organised on a regular basis by the coaching and games development committee.

Adult squad
Our adult team had their action in the Dr Ward Cup delayed until Monday night due to visitors Oram having personnel involved with the county hurling panel on Saturday last. With a number of our own panel facing into exams this week and unavailable for selection this will be an opportunity for the management team to test the strength in depth of their panel. It will undoubtedly be an acid test for many of the younger members of the squad, vying as they are for a permanent position in the starting line up. How they perform will determine whether Gary Larkin and his selectors will retain the same lineout for their next outing; the local derby in Newbliss with Killeevan on Wednesday night at 7.45pm.

U16/Minor
Our Under 16 squad had a comfortable win over Inniskeen at TMH on Thursday evening last, their next outing is away to Magheracloone on Thursday 20th May when they can expect to have a much tougher contest with the Mitchell's youngsters The character of our minor squad face another stiff examination this week as they set out to prove they have recovered from their drubbing at the hands of St Pats last week. They will be hoping they can get their campaign back on track for the visit of Carrickmacross to TMH, this is the deferred round 1 game lost to the snow storm back at the end of March, at time of going to press because of a bereavement in the Carrick club it has been deferred to Sunday 23rd May at 5.00pm It will also be the last competitive action the squad will see until the 29th June when leaving certificate examination allows competitions resume.

The numbers drawn out 3,5,4,2,1,8,6,7, last Monday night for a jackpot prize of €6,000 were not correctly forecast. Promoters will be calling if the haven't all ready done so to some supporter where their initial €20 subscription is now exhausted; they will of course be hoping for and seeking a further subscriptions to insure continued participation in this weekly social members draw for a Jackpot prize which has steadily grown over the last few week. Treasurer Cyril Kieran will hold a clinic in the Complex on Sunday evening to arrange easy administration of these renewal subscriptions. Cyril of course will willing accept new members into this draw and he encourages everyone who are not yet participating to please support this fund raising venture, he also reminds promoters to do all they can to insure increase participation. Just to put the importance of this weekly social members draw in context, Cyril explains that plans are well advanced for the commencement of the next phase of development i.e. construction of dressing rooms and spectator stand. Sufficient funds will be the key to the timely completion of this phase, and he believe by enlisting maximum support from the local community a considerable portion of the finance require can be generated via supporting the club's weekly Totto draw.

Go Games blitz
Our under 8 youngsters participated in a very enjoyable go game blitz in Cloghan on Saturday last, in their section they had very useful and exciting games against Killevan, Aughnamullen and Eire Og. Well done to all concerned and especially Pearse Murphy who equipped himself very well in his refereeing debut. Keep up the good work.

Jersey Search
A couple of sets of our adult team's jerseys have been misplaced, no they are not lost but probably lying in the boot of someone car or wash room cupboard. Can I appeal to anyone who may had had occasion to use these jerseys to check their storage spaces and if found return them to Gerry Lynch or Cyril Kieran.

Summer Camps

Annual Social
Last Saturday night in the complex a good number of our players, members, and supporters gathered together for the club's very enjoyable annual social. Club chairman Danny and secretary Sean dovetailed well in their preparations insuring the night ran like clockwork. After a hearty meal served by Mona and her pleasant and polite staff, presentations were made by Honory Club Presidents to newly weds, Jeremy and Aine Treanor, John Paul and Brenda Mc Entee, Francis and Mary Evans and Enda and Fiona Murphy. The announcement of the 2009 players' player of the year award was greeted with approval and loud applause as current club captain Emmett Mc Elvaney was called forward to receive the coveted Mc Entee award, last years team manager Benny Kieran presenting Emmett with his well merited award.

Club chairman Danny Clerkin made presentations to Mary Mc Connon and Kevin Mc Morrow in recognition of outstanding service to the club; both had been long serving members of the club executive committee. Mary holding the onerous position of club treasurer for seven years, as well as having an eye for bookkeeping detail, at a time of financial recklessness among lending institutions Mary managed and kept a tight reign on the substantial club funds that annually passed through her hands over that period.

Kevin during his long tenure on the committee held the positions of PRO, Assist Secretary and in latter years the Cultural Officers post. (See associated presentation photographs).

Adult squad
Our adult team's unbeaten record remains in tact although perilously close to coming to an end on Saturday evening last in "Coyle's field " Clones. Our boys spluttered rather than sparkled on this occasion, but they did show glimpses of their capabilities if only in the closing stages as Paddy Kieran Damien Larkin and James Treanor all knocked over long range points to take a share of the spoils on a final score line of Clones 1 - 8 Seans 0 - 11. The home side held a 6 point to 4 advantage at the interval thanks to accuracy of their sole score getter in this opening half, ace free taker Colm Connolly. When Connolly dispatched a third minute second half penalty to the corner of Mark Keogh net the writing looked to be very much on the wall. A number of substitutions help steady the good ship Mc Dermott's and our boys rallied with the aid of those wind assisted long range points to tie the game up as the referee blew the full time whistle.

Next week they play Oram at TMH on Monday night and on Wednesday night they make the short journey to Newbliss where Killeevan will be hoping to inflict a similar result to that achieved in last year's corresponding fixture, and our boys will be keenly aware that they will have to perform to a much high standard if the are not to wave goodbye to their unbeaten sequence. Both next week's games have a starting time of 7.45pm.

Last Friday night at TMH in a high scoring game a spectacular blasted effort from Nigel Lynch to the roof of the Killeevan net with only five minutes remaining proved the difference in the end of an entertaining RFL Div 3 tussle with neighbours Killeevan. Senior manager Gary Larkin gave a Shane Duffy like performance in the goals, others to catch the eye were Rory Lyden, Daire Freeman, Stephen Mc Elvaney, Nigel Mc Quillan and Conal Mc Crudden when introduce. Final score Seans 3 - 10 Killeevan 3 - 7

U16/Minor
Over the past two week our minor squad had two very contrasting games on Tue night (4th ) they travelled to Corduff and produced a cracking game of football to pip the home side by two points on a final scoreline of Corduff 3-10 Seans 3 -12. This was football of the highest calibre between two evenly matched team the outcome in doubt right up to the final whistle. In an excellent all round team performance the artistry in front of goal of Kevin Mc Mahon shone like a beacon.
Try as they did on Monday night last though there was little they could do to halt the gallop a far superior St Pats outfit and on the evidence of this performance this amalgamated squad would give teams in the higher division a run for their money. Although our boys were depleted through injury, it's doubtful if these absentees would have made any difference, as the Ballybay /Drumhowan combination were well worth their final tally of St Pats 4 -8 to Seans 0 -6; a score line that reflect the enormous gulf between the two sides.
Next round of games originally scheduled for Saturday 15th are now rescheduled for Tuesday 18th May at 7.30pm.

Adult squad
Our adult squad had a somewhat flattering nine points to spare over visitors Killanny in their Junior football league clash at TMH on Friday evening last, the final lopsided appearance of the scoreboard hides the fact that this was a much closer affair than the result suggests. The visitors were always in contention and when they banged in a second half goal mid way through the half they were well and truly back in the game, only a single point seperating the sides. It was thanks to a purple patch in the last ten-minute from our boys that yielded 1-3 that put the sheen on the scoreline. Our defence performed well particularly Emyln Clerkin in the full back berth, the youthful midfield pairing of David Mc Entee and Paraic Mc Guirk got through a tremendous amount of work, upfront the inside forward line of James Treanor Damien Larkin and Patrick Kieran posed the biggest treat. The number of unforced error especially around the middle third of the park will be a cause of some concern for manager Gary Larkin and his selectors, no doubt Gary will be anxious to get his charges out on the training pitch as he sets about eliminating and reducing these turn overs, but he'll have to do that quickly, as another formidable test awaits on Saturday when the squad travel to Clones for the earlier that usual Saturday evening throw in time of 5.00pm.

The C squad proved to strong for visitors Fergal O Hanlon's on Saturday evening last in the Reserve league Div 4 competition, our boys raising five green flags over the hour, Fergal Mc Quillan getting in on the act finishing to the net with poise and precision.

The "B" squad are in action on Friday night entertaining Killeevan at TMH at 7.30pm

U16/Minor
In an exciting and high scoring minor game in Rooskey last week our boys started well and looked as if they were going to have thing their own way, but a determined Harps outfit had other idea and it was nip and tuck in the first half. With the wind at their back in the second half our lads began to exert a lot more pressure, and knocked over some nice scores, the Harps lads were always dangerous on the counter attack and kept in touch; it took some timely interception from Mark Mc Guigan at centre back and Gavin Baxter on the edge of the square to keep the town side at bay. Jamie Mc Elvaney especially in the second half was a real dynamo around the middle of the field getting good support from Danny Mc Nally in that area. The forwards worked well collectively with Shane Larkin Brian Mc Quaid Shane Hagan and Kevin Mc Mahon all catching the eye repeatedly. This week they had another tough assignment when travelling to Corduff to take on the high flying Gaels lads. Panellist and supporters please note a change of date and time for their next round game against St Pats, this now take place at TMH on Monday 10th May at 7.00pm and not Tuesday as originally scheduled. The 16 squad make a similar journey to that of the minor on Thursday 6th May they too head to the Corduff venue

Adult squad
Our adult squad sat out last week end JFL activities with a bye in Round 4, earlier in the week on Wednesday night against Blackhill they managed to get there noses in front at the right time to secure another two valuable leagues points. With five minutes remaining these point looked anything but secure as the home side held a two point advantage, leaving many of our supporters twitchy and nervous, but tension was ease when veteran Patrick Kieran put Damian Larkin in the cleared and the in form full forward made no mistake to put his side back in front. In the few remaining minutes both combined well again to tag on another few points and give Mc Dermotts a flattering four point winning margin.

Both our “B” and ”C “ squads were in action; on Friday night in the RFL Div 3 competition Oram proved far too strong for our second string and ran out comfortable winners on a score line of Oram 1 – 14 Seans 0 -7. On Monday night our RFL Div 4 panel fared no better against hosts Rockcorry, and ended up on the wrong side of a 0 -13 to 0 – 7 result On Friday night at TMH our junior team play host to Killanny throw in time is 7.30pm, The “C” also have home advantage for their joust with Fergal O’ Hanlon’s on Saturday 1st May at 7.00pm and on bank holiday Monday the reschedule Round 1 JFL game against Toome is pencilled in for a 7.00pm throw in.

Underage scene
Coaching for U8/10 Boys and Girls continues as usual on Wednesday evening from 6.30 to 7.30pm

Under 12/14
Our U14 squad travelled to Toome on Saturday last and despite a gutsy performance it wasn’t just enough to wrestle the two leaguer points away from the locals. This week it’s the turn of the U12 competitions, see dates/time/venue for games listed elsewhere in this edition. Training for both panels continues as usual

U16/Minor
The minor squad held on to record a one point winning margin over visitor Cremartin on Tuesday night, this was a see saw battle that saw the sides level on a number of occasions. Cremartin not for the first time got their noses in front thanks to an expertly converted second half penalty, our boy level things and with time running out an almighty effort from fifty metres out from Conor Mc Elroy sail over the bar to insure the two league points stayed home. On Tuesday of this week they had another tough assignment against Monaghan Harps in Rooskey, and next Tuesday they have another away game against pace setters Corduff. The Under 16 side travel to Rockcorry on Thursday 29th for round 6 of their Division 2 competition.

Adult squad
Our adult squad have opened their 2010 junior league campaign in impressive fashion and remain unbeaten after the first two rounds of matches. On Wednesday night they competed well in their opening game against Corduff, and in a game that could have gone either way I suspect both side will be happy sharing the spoils. On Sunday at TMH they produced a work man like performance to out score an out of sort visiting Cremartin side, if criticism could be levelled it's that they didn't put enough scores on the board giving their superiority in most areas of the field On Wednesday of this week they have a potential banana skin game when they travel to Blackhill to take on the Emerald men. Having just shaded the issue in the corresponding game last year I doubt if anyone associated with management or panel will be taking anything for granted this time round, knowing that they will have to produce another 5star performance if they are to keep their early unbeaten run on track. On Sunday 25th its their turn to avail of a bye.

The B squad are in action at TMH on Friday 23rd at 7.15pm in the RFL Division 3 competition for what is in effect a home game for visitor Oram. Our boys having tasted defeat in their last outing against Scotstown will be hoping they can get back to winning ways and maybe extract some wee bit of revenge for the defeat suffered at the hands of these Oram lads in the final of the Paddy Kieran Cup last year. The "C" squad travel to Rockcorry on Monday night (26th) for round four of the reserve League division 4 competition throw in time is 7.15pm for both thsse reserve games.

Under 12/14
Our Under 12 Div 2 panel had two goals to spare in their rescheduled game with Clones on Friday night last, while the Div 5 squad in this same age group suffered a bit of a mauling against a superior Emyvale second string on Saturday after noon in Emyvale. Although not liking the taste of defeat all that well there is no denying their love of Gaelic football, as committed a wee group of youngsters a club could wish for, and despite Saturday reversal they are all very determined to keep the club flag flying high on the U12 playing field. On Saturday next the U14squad travel to Toome for their second outing of the year throw in time is 12 noon, all panellist are reminded to be at the assembly and collection points at the appointed time.

U16/Minor
Next outing for our U16 squad is away to Donaghmoyne on Thursday evening 22nd while the minor panel make the short journey to Rooskey on Tuesday 27th to take on Monaghan Harps, throw in time for this one is 7.15pm. Training continues at the usual times.

Totto
The numbers drawn out 4,1,2,7,3,5,8,6, last Monday night for a jackpot prize of €5,600 were not correctly forecast. The lucky €20 prize winners were Pearse, Ellen & James Murphy Nahill, Mickey Mc Mahon & Noel Clerkin Card Players, Darina & Pat Sherdian Navan, Pauric Coyle Rooskey, John Bradley Cootehill, Francie Murphy & Pete Keenan Card Players, Lisa, Joanne, Deirdre, Geraldine C/o Agrihealth, Ita Kelly Killnaclay, M/s Sweeney Monaghan, Dympna Beggan Roslea, Susan Clerkin Monaghan. Next week jackpot is €5,700.

Interviews will be held in the Enterprise Centre, Castleblayney, on Saturday 8th May 2010 at 10.30am. for administration purposes you need to contact and register with Pauline in the first instance.

Celebrity Boxing
Celebrity boxing comes to the complex on Saturday night next, the much sought after admission tickets are as scarce as hens teeth now for this fund raising venture organised by Smithboro ABC. PJ Gallagher from RTE's Naked Camera fame is the obvious star of the show but there are a few local celebes who might very well steal his thunder as they demonstrate their boxing prowess for the first time in the ring, and definitely for first time under the |Marquis of Queenbury rules.
Sure to be a great night if you can get your hands on an admission tickets. I understand the full house signs are up several days ago but Fergal and the lads involved in the boxing club may still have one or two left for the very late comer.

Sympathy
We extend our sincerest sympathy to the Mc Elvaney family on the death of Eddie Mc Elvaney Corcaghan, and to the Mc Entee family on the death of Mollie Mc Entee Drumguill, May they rest in peace.

Adult squad
Now that competitions have finally begun for our senior team, games are coming thick and fast; on Wednesday night they opened their 2010 campaign with a journey to Corduff. Never an easy place to get points and no doubt thing having changed much in that regard since last we visited the south Monaghan venue. Our boys will have to play to their very best if the are to pillage the points against a Gaels side who were operating in intermediate ranks last year. On Sunday at TMH they entertain another side who were also plying their trade in a higher division last year; Cremartin. How they fare against these two sides will be a good indicator of what the new season has in store, it will undoubtedly give the new management team plenty to ponder. Head scratching if any by Gary and Co will have to be done quickly though, as they travel for another tricky assignment to Blackhill on Wednesday 21st.

Our "B" squad at TMH on Wednesday last week started well and raced into a four point lead after 15 minutes of play, but once visitors Scotstown found their rhythm they quickly over hauled that deficit and went to the dressing room at the break two points to the good Seans 0 - 6 Scotstown. 1 - 5. In the second half Scotstown continued to force the pace as our boys struggled to keep in touch, the writing was on the wall long before the referee blew his full time whistle. Final Score Seans 0 - 8 Scotstown 1 -10.

Under 12/14
The Div 2 U14 competition commenced for our youngsters on Saturday last and as the scoreline suggests this opening game at TMH was a pulsating affair our boys holding out for a single point victory against a well drilled and talented Clontibret squad. Seans 5 - 6 Clontibre 3 - 11. It's the turn of the U12's next weekend; children and parents are asked to note the starting time for these two games, as they are not at the usual Saturday noon time. The Div 2 game against Clones is on Friday evening at 6.30pm, while the Div 5 squad is away to Emyvale on Saturday at 2.30pm

U16/Minor
The Under 16's had three points to spare over Corduff in another high scoring game played in Corduff last week our boys relying on goals, hitting seven in all to swing the game in their favour, Corduff 4 -11 (23) Seans 7 -5 (26) They have received a walk over for this week schedule visit of Emerald Sarsfields to TMH on Thursday night, to compensate for the loss of game time a coaching /training session will be held, it's important that everyone on the panel make the effort to be present for this hour long session.

The minor squad made a successful opening to their Division 2 campaign over coming Magheracloone in this deferred game in Inniskeen on Sunday evening last on a score line Magheracloone 2 - 7 Seans 2 - 9. The out come of this game hung on a moment of sheer brilliance from goalkeeper Conor Freeman getting down as he did and diving full length with unbelievable agility to deny Magheracloone from the penalty spot. At the other end Brian Mc Quaid was in fine form but he had to rely on the very alert Daniel Mc Carron who was quickest to react to slot the ball to the net after Mc Quaid initial effort also from the penalty spot was well parried by the Mageheracloone net minder. Dwayne Mc Caffery was solid as a rock at full back; Mark Mc Guigan was alert, and quick to avert danger from his pivotal centre back position. Danny Mc Naly and the hard working Jamie Mc Elvaney more than held their own round the middle of the field, up front despite being short a number of regulars the younger member of the panel slotted in well and can be well pleased with their contribution in claiming these opening two league points.

Totto
The numbers drawn out 8,3,6,1,7,2,5,4, last Monday night for a jackpot prize of €5,500 were not correctly forecast. The lucky €20 prize winners were Paula Sloan Leck, Jennifer Mc Guinness Cornaglare, Caoimhe Dolan Leck, Jane Hughes Threemilehouse, Michael Thornton Ballagh, Sean Murphy Tirnaneill, James Allister Dunraymond, Paul Sherry Lossett, Eugene Fay Lisboduff, R. Go Games Referee
Games Development Manager Paul O Connor has organise a course on Saturday next 17th April for anyone interested in becoming a Go Games referee, the course for north Monaghan club representatives is in Cloghan from 9:15am to11:15am. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone in the 15-18 age bracket to take up the whistle and be our refereeing representative when our under 8/10 youngsters are participating in the Go Games blitz which are planned throughout the summer. Youth chairman Enda Murphy is on the recruitment trail and has already identified a number of potential candidates, but if you would like your name added to that list why not give Enda a call 087-7840460.

Dinner Dance
Plans to organise this years dinner dance on Saturday 8th May are well advanced. Although a little bit later than usual, deliberately so, as the executive committee felt the eve of La na gClub would be the ideal date for our annual social get together; and a perfect introduction to La na gClub activities, the theme for this year’s day is the promotion of “Youth through Volunteerism”. Looking forward to seeing our many club volunteers young and old alike out in strength on the night.

Congrats and Well done
To both our county Senior Hurling and Football panels and their management teams on their great achievement at the week end.

Adult squad
There was much frustration among the adult squad when they learned that the opening series of games in the Junior Football League scheduled for Saturday last 3rd April were again postponed due to the Ulster Councils decision to defer the Ulster U21 football championship semi final involving Monaghan to the same date. They had however a useful run out against neighbours Eire Óg just shading things at the finish in this fairly competitive friendly. Action for them now commences on Wednesday 14th April with an away game to Corduff.
Our “C” squads Easter Monday hosting of visitors Aghabog in the RFL Div 4 competition ended all square on 2 - 9 apiece. This game played in gusty conditions was an enjoyable affair with some fine fielding, good passing movements and excellent scores. Daire Freeman bagging his goal with some aplomb, Gary Larkin now in the twilight of his career also showed he hasn’t lost his eye for the net, rowing in with his team second major. Further back Adrian Mc Carron in goal made a number of fine saves and was the toast of team mates defying the visitors as he did from the penalty spot. Ruari Mc Carron made a number of timely interceptions in an over worked defence and was often the rock on which many of the visitors attacks faltered especially in the second half when assisted by that strong breeze. John Paul and Eunan Mc Entee along with Conal Mc Crudden used their superior height advantage to good effect ensuring a plentiful supply of the ball around the middle of the field. Up front as well as the two goal scorers it was good to see Adrian Larkin moving well again after a long lay off through injury.
The B squad played Scotstown on Wed evening both panel have a short break now until weekend of 25th April as A squad games take centre stage over the next two weeks.

Underage scene
Coaching on Wednesday evening from 6.30 to 7.30pm continues as usual indoors for our U8/10 brigade, every one in this age category are welcome and encourage to attend.

Under 12/14
Coaching sessions for Under 12 and Under 14 panels continue as arrange with team mentors. Last Saturday the U12 Div 5 panel had a big win over visitors Clones, while the Div 2 panel just had their noses in front at the finish in a pulsating game that saw them get the better of Inniskeen’s youngsters by a single point; final score Seans 4- 12 Inniskeen 3-13This age group have a rest next week end as the U14 competitions kicks into action, our boys entertaining Clontibret on Saturday at TMH at 12.00pm

U16/Minor
The opening series of game in the Minor Division 2 competition fell victim to last week’s heavy snow fall and this week’s game V Magheracoone has also had to be rescheduled to Sunday evening 11th April at 5.00pm. They will sit out round 3 on Tuesday 13th April as they have a bye on that date.

The inclement weather also forced the deferment of games on Thursday in the U16 competition, rescheduled to Saturday last our boys proved too strong for visitors Tyholland. . On Thursday 8th April they travel to Corduff to take on the Gaels youngsters at 6.45pm

Adult squad
Action in the 2010 Junior Football League begins on Saturday evening next at 5:00pm when our adult squad entertain and welcome visitor Toome to Pairc Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada. Our boys will be anxious to get the new campaign off on the right note, but they will have their work cut out against last years championship finalists and the Oisin Mc Conville trained St Victors outfit. Our lads under new manager Gary Lakin and his management team have worked hard over the last number of weeks in training and will know that if they play to their true potential are a match for any opposition; that was evident last Sunday when they just shaded a very competitive friendly against Aughnamullen. Adding a little spice to this opening round game if that ingredient were needed is the fact that both sides also face each other in the opening round of the championship in a couple of months time. For now though Gary will be happy if he can get his charges off to a winning start and claim the two league points that are up for grabs.

Our “C” squad have an Easter Monday evening outing at home in Pairc SMD against Aghabog, throw in 6.30pm. Having lost to Castleblayney in the opening game of this Reserve League Division 4 Competition our boys on this occasion will be hoping for a more successful outcome at the expense of our near neighbours.

On Wednesday 7th April Scotstown are scheduled to visit for round 3 of the RFL Division 3 competition, this game has a 6.45pm start time, but if Monaghan are playing in the Ulster Under 21 football final on that evening these game will be deferred to Friday 9th April. Members of each panel are asked to note the details of these games especially the starting times, and to make every effort to make themselves available for selection.

Underage scene
Coaching on Wednesday evening for our U8/10 squads from 6.30 to 7.30pm continues as usual indoors or outdoors depending on weather conditions, every one in this age category are welcome and encourage to attend but make sure you come equipped with indoor and outdoor playing gear.

Under 12/14
Coaching sessions for both Under 12 and Under 14 panels continues at the regular times, last week end both U12 teams were in action the Div.2 panel travelled to Corduff where the ended up on the wrong side of the result Corduff 7 -12 Seans 6 - 7.

The Div 5 side had home advantage and although ending up with a higher score than visitors Scotstown were forced to concede their "win" because of their inability to field a full team, borrowing a couple of the Scotstown youngsters to make the regulation 9 a side. With limited numbers available this failure to field only goes to emphasise how importance it is for all eligible youngsters to make sure they are present for these games. Next Saturday both teams are at home to Inniskeen and Clones respectively with the throw in time set for 12 noon.

The Under 14 squads get there action off the ground on Saturday 10th April with home games against Clontibret in the Div 2 competition and against Fergal O' Hanlon's in the Div 5 competition, again because of the limited number in this age group it's vital that everyone eligible participates in the coaching session and competes in these games.

U16/Minor
Inclement weather has forced the deferment of the opening round of games in the minor football league which was due to commence on Tuesday night last. Next Tuesday this panel make the long journey to Magheracloone for a 6.45 starting time. Hopefully weather conditions will have improved to allow the U16 competition get under way on Thursday 1st April. Our boys have Tyholland as visitors for their opening fixture in the Division 2 competition. Coaching and training will be fitted in along side these Tuesday and Thursday games night, members of both squads should check with their respective manager re the weekly training schedule.

Scór
It was a case of a very full house for the Ulster Scór final in the complex last Saturday night, the standard of competition and the entertainment value was extremely high. Emyvale kept the Monaghan flag flying and to their credit against very stiff opposition booked a place in the All Ireland Final programme in Killarney on Saturday 24th April by virtue of their set dancing success. We wish them and all Ulster representatives the very best when they journey to the Kingdom in a couple of weeks time.

A word of appreciation to all club volunteers who assisted with the spring clean last week, and to all who willing accepted steward duty on Saturday night insuring everything went off without a hitch, your support and commitment is very much appreciated.

Our “B” squad in their second outing of the season registered their first league points when they visited Emyvale on Sunday last and came away with a two point victory over the home side In a low scoring opening half Emyvale lead at the break ;Emyvale 0-3 Seans 0 -1. The introduction of Gary Mc Entee in the second half helped considerably in swinging the possession stake in our boys favour. With Mc Entee’s added influence ably assisted by Shane O Neill and Emlyn Clerkin our boys although struggling to contain a determined home side deservedly held on to shade the issue at the final whistle. With no more reserve games scheduled for this month all panel members will have the opportunity now to concentrate on a little extra training activity by attending the regular bi weekly session on Tuesday and Friday nights at 8.o’clock

Underage scene
Coaching on Wednesday evening from 6.30 to 7.30pm continues as usual indoors for our U8/10 brigade, every one in this age category are welcome and encourage to attend.

Under 12/14
Coaching sessions for Under 12 and Under 14 panels continues on Friday evening at 6.45pm and on Monday at 7.15 pm. That hectic games programme I mentioned last week got off the ground on Saturday a week earlier than originally planned. Our Under 12 side entertained visitors Clontibret in the 11 aside Division 2 competition; the second game of the afternoon saw another club squad of U.12 youngsters take on Fergal O’Hanlons in the 9 a side Div 5 competition. Although both panel performed admirably and notched up an impressive score tally it wasn’t enough to overcome the two visiting sides who proved just too strong on this occasion. No games for either squad this week but I was reminded by them to wish Enda and Fiona the very best in their big matrimonial celebration next Saturday (now you know why the games were brought forward), we all wish them long life and happiness together.

U16/Minor
Coaching and training continues as usual for the minor and under 16 squads, panellists should check with their respective team mentors for exact times etc of these sessions. Both coaches at time of going to press are trying to arrange a couple of friendlies in preparation for the opening games in the minor competition on Tuesday 30th March and in the U16 competition a couple of day later on Thursday 1st April, how they get on will influence dates and time of coaching sessions.

Scór
No joy in Stradone at the Ulster Scór semi final for our club trio in Tráth na gCeist, although equipping themselves very well they were no match for the knowledgeable seasoned campaigners from Cornafean (Cavan) who secured the Ulster final place up for grabs. On a night when all Monaghan’s representatives did themselves and their clubs proud, it will be left to Emyvale alone to fly the flag for the county at the Ulster Final having qualified in Dancing, Ceile and Set, Solo Singing and Ballad Group. We look forward to seeing and supporting them in the final in the Complex on Saturday 27th March where hopefully they can progress to the All Ireland Final, we will be rooting for them.

The C's will know they let the Faughs off the hook, failing as they did to convert a penalty and numerous other chances in front of goal.
Good to see Gary Mc Entee in sparkling form, the big man put in a man of the match performance showing he had lost none of his ability to fetch the high ones.

Scór
The County Finals of Scor Sinsear held in Ardaghey Community Centre on Friday night last was undoubtedly a long night but for most it was easy to sit and enjoy the five hours of first class entertainment; Irish music, song, and dance at it's very best. The club had representatives completing in ceili dancing, instrumental music, solo singing, recitation novelty act, ballad group and question time and although putting in excellent performances in all disciplines were disappointed that just one title came our way. That in Tráth na gCeist where the knowledgeable Peter Cullen and Gaelic Games maestro Stephen Hagan swept yours truly along to a podium position after two rounds of tie break questions to edge out Rockcorry.
A word of appreciation to Olivia Mc Connon who epitomised the effort of all participants deferring and starting out on a very late night journey into the west, thus insuring the Rince Foirne teams participation, a sprained ankle having sidelined Aideen Keenan much to her annoyance.
Another lady worthy of mention Therese Mc Connon Brennan, no stranger to Scor activities herself but this time round keeping out of the spotlight preferring to offer her expertise to our youthful Bailéad Ghrúpa, and didn't it show.
Well done to everyone involved especially our gallant representatives. The good new is if you weren't in Ardaghey on Friday night and haven't seen their performance; it's hoped that all our Scor participants will perform at a special Lá Fheile Padraig night in the complex on 17th March.
Winners from Friday night now go forward to represent Monaghan in the Ulster Scor semi final, which will be held in Stradone Co Cavan on Friday 12th March.
The club representative are Rince Fóirne; Emyvale. Ceol Uirlise; Scotstown. Aithriseoireacht; Aghabog. Amhránaíocht Aonair; Emyvale Nuachleas; Drumhowan. Bailéad Ghrúpa; Emyvale. Rince Seit; Emyvale. Tráth na gCeist ; Sean Mc Diarmada.

Sympathy
We extend our sincerest sympathy to Phyllis and the extended Mc Guigan family circle on the death of Jimmy Mc Guigan Mullinahinch. Jimmy was a members of the very successful Threemilehouse team of the mid fifties, like many of his generation around the early '60 emigration curtailed his appearances with the newly form Seans club.
A lovely man off the field but a teak tough wing back on it, described by one of his team mates of that era "a hardy nut".

This week end the squad travel to Belfast at the invitation of the Sean Mc Diarmada club there to celebrate birthday remembrance (28th February 1884) of Irish patriot Sean Mac Diarmada .The host club have arranged a full and varied itinerary including an overnight stay, a social and cultural evening in their club headquarters plus a 2 o' clock game on Saturday after noon in Casement Park. The coach to Belfast leaves the complex at 11.00am Saturday morning, I think! Best just check departure time with Gary by turning up at one or preferably both those 8.00pm week night training sessions. There is a rumour that a dispensation may be given to some members of the squad to travel to Ardaghey to support lads who have traded in their football boots on Friday night to take part in the County Scor final. To avoid the wrath of The man, best just confirm this too. We wish the squad a worthwhile and enjoyable trip to Belfast and know they will be excellent ambassadors for our club.

Totto
Early indicators are that our revised weekly social members draw with its guaranteed weekly jackpot prize of €5,000 is been well received, teams already canvassing their designated area are encountering much good will and a lot of encouragement. For team leaders who have not yet mustered their troop a reminder that the new Totto format and 1st draw for that big prize take place on Saturday 6th March, they need to be assembling and gearing up for their offensive this week.
The results from last weeks draw; no one correctly forecast the number sequence drawn out 6,3,4,5,2,7,1. The €40 prize went to Patsy Thornton Greagh, the €20 prizes were claimed by Paddy Toal, Smithboro, Michael Mc Guinness Ballagh, Philomena Duffy Cabra, and Joe Leonard Clones and Conor Clerkin Conor's bar. Scór
With the County Finals of Scor Sinsear scheduled for Ardaghey Community Centre on Friday 26th March preparations at club level are gathering momentum, practice and more practice for our dancing representative Michelle Mulligan, Edel Linden, Deborah Lawlor, Orla Lennon, Paula Maguire, Aideen Keenan, Fiona Mc Mahon, and Christopher Mc Cormick the order of the day. Not far behind in their get togethers are the Ceol Uirlise quartet of Claire Mc Cabe, Collette Mc Nellis, Rosaleen Mc Elvaney, and David Lambe.
According to one of his neighbours Sean Prunty's diary herd has improved milk yields, the reason Aithriseoireacht, he has began reciting to them. Nice audience you might think, not so our neighbour friend tells us, you try keeping your concentration and sticking with your lines after getting a belt of a switching tail in the gob. After surviving that, the stage in Ardaghey will hold little fear for the farmer from Drumgarrow.
Sean doesn't do all his practising at home either as he is also part of our Nuachleas brigade, finding time to team up with long time thespians Darina Moffett, Patrick Mc Ardle, Brendan Finan and Frank Evans in their quest for that Holy Grail, but with stiff competition guaranteed in Ardaghey they will be happy if they can negotiate that first hurdle.
Our Bailead Ghrúpa are not to be found wanting either when it comes to desire to do well. This youthful quintet Louise Keelan, Claire Mc Cabe, Damien Connolly Barry Mc Guinness and Fintan Mc Kenna are pulling out all the stops not to mention harmonies etc in their effort to do the club proud.
Regular attendee at all these practice sessions is cultural officer Mickey Mc Mahon. Mickey has used his powers of persuasion to insure the club will be well represented on county final night on 26th February although.those persuasive powers were tested to the limit before finally convincing Peter Cullen Stephen Hagan and your truly to accept the question time challenge.
A word of appreciation to Mickey for his co-ordination efforts, a big turnout of local support to offer their encouragement to all participants would certainly be very welcome. That's Ardaghey Friday 26th February.

Best wishes.
We extend our very best wished to the county VEC team and everyone involved.
This squad travel to Drumard Longford (about 6kms outside Arvagh) on Saturday next to take on Galway in the All- Ireland semi-final at 2.00pm, we hope they have a successful outing and book their place in the All Ireland final.

Sympathy
It was with deep sadness and a great sense of loss that our club community learned on Wednesday morning of the death of Eddie Mc Carron Brandrum. Eddie played a key role in the early development and successes of the Seans teams of the '60. His affable roguish character endearing him to all who knew him especially his teammates of that era with whom there was a very special bond of friendship. Eddie was an astute and successful team manager with the club in the mid '70 his own infectious determination and courageousness hallmarks of teams that took the field during his managerial stewardship. In recent months those personal characteristic were again evident as Eddie battled with dignity and fortitude terminal illness, a battle he sadly loss on Tuesday night. We extend our deepest and heart felt sympathy to Chris and the Mc Carron family on their great loss.

Adult squad
There was a very good attendance of players at last Saturday night's meeting where new team manager introduced himself and his selectors, and out lined his plans and expectations for the year ahead. Collective training will commence in a couple of weeks time, some expressed relief but one wile old campaigner (well not so old, cute!!!) was heard to say "might be time before then to do a wee bit me self new broom and all that there you know"

U/8/10
The good news for our youngest stars is that training and coaching session return for them in the complex on Wed 3rd February from 6.30 to 7.30pm. I expect to see them all there.

Totto Results
Last Saturday night was a bonanza pay night for Totto participants, Frank Thornton Cabra correctly forecast the seven number drawn out and walked away with the €2,000 jackpot prize, Michael Mc Mahon Killnaclay was in the running for a share in that jackpot prize when he too had the first five numbers in the sequence drawn out also correct, unfortunately his last two numbers were in reversed order to the way they came out leaving Frank to claim the top prize while Mickey had to settled for €200. The €40 prizes went to Therese Mc Connon, and Patsy Thornton Greagh, Frank Mc Cabe Jnr. Tattinaclave Colin Doran Smithboro, Dympna Mc Elroy Ballinode, and John & Bridie Sherry, Congratulations to all the winners.

Membership
Club registrar Ciaran Mc Entee on behalf of the club is working overtime rounding up players and club members and relieving them of their €20 annual membership subscription. Ciaran is particularly interested at this time in making the acquaintance of many more lads on our playing panels; players must have their subscription paid in advance of lining out on any of our adult team the rule for players and prospective playing member is simple “no pay no play”. I would encourage all players and indeed the general membership to comply with the requirement of being paid up and registered before 31st March.but as games are likely to commence before that date players must have their subscriptions paid before taking to the playing fields.

Dancing classes
Participants in our regular weekly dancing classes are asked to note a change in the time slot for these classes. The ceili class is still on Saturday but from 5.30 to 6.30pm.with the set session is on Tuesday evening also from 6.30 to 7.30pm. All children over seven are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Team Manager
Gary Larkin has been installed as the new manager for our junior squad for 2010, if in this new role Gary can replicate some of the thrill and enjoyment he gave supporter during his playing career then '10 promises to be an exciting year. Gary will outline his plans to the players at a meeting in the complex on Saturday night next 23rd January at 8.00pm, all players interested in being on the club's junior team panel for the season ahead are invited and encourage to attend. Youth Affairs
The proposal to amend the format of underage competitive games for 2010 were approved at the county committee meeting. The introduction of smaller sided games 15,13,11, or 9 aside is the major departure; the expectation is that clubs will now enter several teams at each age level depending on panel numbers. The introduction of condition games from U12 to U16 e.g. two-touch rule is also a new innovation. With the likelihood of more games Youth Committee chairman Enda Murphy is keen to recruit additional adult supervisory personnel to coach and assist with our under age teams. Enda would be delighted to hear from competent individual who can commit a few hours each week to help out.

Team Manager
The executive members are due to be briefed at this week's club committee meeting (Tuesday night) on the candidates with their hats in the ring for the position of new team manager. Bingo Resumes
I'm never going to listen to another weather man ever again; given that the prediction of improved weather conditions last week end never materialised, if anything road conditions worsened necessitating the cancellation of yet another Monday night bingo session. All going well we will endeavour to resume next week, that's Monday 18th January. Hopefully weathers and road conditions will have ease somewhat and we can recommence our regular Monday night 9 O' clock activity; the good news is that Brian and Gerry have those wee Christmas and New Year gifts stashed in a secure place and are raring to distribute them to all and sundry, if only weather condition would afford them that opportunity. Hopefully they'll get their chance next Monday night, but make sure your there to collect.

Seans Notes 07/01/10

Team Manager
No white smoke yet as to the identity of our new adult team manager for 2010. Club Chairman Danny Clerkin has cast his net to land the right person to fill outgoing manager Benny Kieran’s boots. The new man at the helm will be charged with continuing the rebuilding process, and developing the many young talented players currently coming through our underage ranks to their maximum potential. Of course there will be the added expectation of delivering promotion via Championship or League success, both would be a nice bonus. By no means a simple job description, but despite the enormity of the challenge and responsibility that goes with it I have no doubt we have very capable individuals within our club who will be up for and accept this challenge. Watch this space!

Juvenile affairs
Plans are in place to dramatically restructure the under age games programme in the county for the coming year. With this in mind Youth Committee Chairman Enda Murphy will welcome expressions of interest from parents, past or current players, indeed any competent adult who may be able to commit 3 – 4 hours per week to assist in coaching and supervision with any of our under age squads for 2010. Training for new volunteers is readily available. New recruits should note they will be required to undertake a child protection course, and to comply with best practice a vetting process is also in place. This is standard procedure and shouldn’t deter anyone interested in becoming involved in our club’s under age coaching structures. Rather it should be seen as offering protection not only to the youngsters but to every adult involved. If you are interested and can spare a few hours then contact Enda on 087-7840460.

There were no correct predictions for the number sequence 5,1,7,3,4,2,6 drawn last Saturday night for the first jackpot of the New Year, which stood at €1,700. The €40 prize for Multi Draw paid up participants went to Malcahy Clerkin Killnaclay, the €20 prizes were claimed by Mary Catherine Keenan Corcaghan, O'Reilly/Mc Nellis Cabra, Olive Mc Carron Mullaghdun, and Kay, P.J. & Debs C/o P.J. Membership
Club registrar Ciaran Mc Entee is working feverishly to comply with a Croke Park directive which stipulates that club membership subscriptions must be paid and members registered in headquarters before 31st March. Ciaran would appreciate all existing members’ cooperation in meeting this deadline, he asks that renewal subscriptions are tender as soon as possible. New applications for membership should be directed to Club Secretary Sean Mc Elvaney these too should be submitted well in advance of that March cut off date.

Bingo Resumes
Good news for all our Bingo patrons, we are determined to resume our regular Monday night bingo session next week; on Monday 11th January. Forced to abandon this weekly assembly for the last three successive weeks in the interest of safety because of the prevailing dangerous road conditions. Meteorological experts are predicting a weekend of improved weather and road conditions, hopefully this will indeed be the case, and next Monday night's bingo session will go ahead uninterrupted. This is the plan and we look forward to seeing all our regular patrons back with us, eyes down raring to go at 9 o'clock. We thank them for their patience and apologise for the inconviencience, no doubt Brian and Gerry will be rewarding everyone's forbearance and loyalty with their annual Christmas and New Year gifts give away when we resume especially after this weather enforced interruption. See you all Monday night.
