Junior Championship
Round one of the Championship seen Currin as our guests on Saturday evening last. Always a close fixture and this was to be no different. Despite a rapid start by the Seans, firing themselves into a five point lead, the visitors responded with a goal which brought them right back into the game. From here, there was nothing between the teams and it became a contest for the two point shooters. Currin were ahead by a single score at the break and the second half would resume with the same gusto. Point for point was the order of the second period. However, the Seans had succumbed to a number of injuries but continued to battle hard. As we entered the closing stages, the home team squeezed some daylight on score board with a single point advantage. But, alas, the two point killer blow would settle the contest for Currin as they slotted over the last score and secured the win by one. It’s admirable to kick nineteen points in any game but difficult to take defeat. Not the start to the campaign that we had hoped, or planned for, but you can only play the cards in front of you, and we didn’t make the cut. Killeevan will be game number two, away, on Friday evening which will be another tight contest.
