Official Opening of New Facilities

Minister Heather Humphreys will officially open our Muga Pitch and Walking Track on Thursday 11th April at 12.30pm. All members of the community are invited to the opening and join in the celebrations of the new facilities to the Club grounds.

Seniors Mens Reserve League

Along with Storm Kathleen, we hosted Toome, on Saturday evening for round 3 of the league. In gale conditions the game became a story of the proverbial two halves. Toome had the wind power in the first period but failed to capitalise with the advantage missing scores and only having a three point lead at the break. We on the other hand, only managed a single point in the first half so it was all or nothing for period two. As the teams came on so did the rain and the monsoon conditions continued for must of the second half. However, we eventually made our breakthrough, despite all the obstacles, and pushed in front with a goal and point in quick succession. Long spells of battling the weather kept scores to minimum but out of a scrummage, a deftly soccer touch, gave us a second goal and a four point lead heading into the final minutes. But Toome piled on the pressure, and we succumbed to conceding a goal and a point in the closing stages. The game ended in stalemate. A win, a draw and a loss so far, so its steady as she goes. Well done lads.

Junior League Round 1

All roads lead to Drumhowan on Sunday at 2pm for the opening game for our Senior Mens first team. Wishing them and the new management all the best for the season.

Minors

The minors kicked off their campaign with a home tie against Cremartin on Tuesday last. The lads started confidentially and converted early scores to give some breathing space between the sides. They played nice direct ball and took their scores when the opportunity arose. A half time lead was enough to keep them in front and they played out a second half as they did the first finishing on a scoreline of 3-15 to 1-10. Well done lads and the next test is a rematch of the U17 championship final as we travel to Magheracloone on Tuesday 16th April.

U16’s Boys League

Our 16’s made the long trek to Inniskeen on Thursday last for round 1 of the league. Amidst horrid conditions and failing light the side battled hard and were only five points in arrears at the break. However, Inniskeen took control, with wind advantage, and quickly forged a lead from which we had no return. Disappointing for the lads as they played hard despite the weather and numerous injuries. Next up is a home game with Latton on the 18th April, so plenty of time work on the improvements.

U16’s Girls League

Our U16 girls began their division 2 season against Inniskeen, at home, on Monday night. We started slow and fell behind early on, but we finished the half strongly and went in at the break only down by a point. In the second half we really upped the ante and played some lovely football resulting in us capitalising on chances and running out winners on a score of 6-6 to 3-7. Good performances throughout the field from the goalkeeper right through to the subs that were introduced. A positive start to the new season, well done to all.

Sean Ógs Academy

Our youngest players are now back on the pitch. Each Tuesday, the U6’s are on from 6pm to 6.45pm and U8’s and U10’s are on from 6pm to 7pm.
